Jason Wu Looks & Review

I took some pictures yesterday after my excitement from the Jason Wu collection died down a little. I needed time to think with my brain and not act on impulse. That's what happens with highly anticipated collections like these -we run out and buy anything and everything we can get our hands on with our eyes closed!

Blouse with Tie in Blush Dots ($34.99 size small)

The style of this blouse is nice fairly nice. I like that it's long and flows enough to wear with leggings or jeans but can be easily dressed up with a skirt. I like the polka dot detailing that runs through both the collar and the rest of the top. A size small fits a bit loose but I prefer looser tops. I'm only unsure about the color.

I also picked up the navy version of the same top which I like much better. I feel that navy suits my skin tone better and it also gives off a more casual and relaxed feel.

Long-sleeve Sheer Blouse in Blush Dots ($34.99 size small)

The sheer long-sleeve blouse caught my eye while looking at the collection lookbook so I knew I'd have to give it a try. I didn't think the flouncy top part of the blouse would suit me but to my surprise, I kind of like it! However, it's very sheer (you can see the waistband of my leggings in the photo.) Another downside is that the sleeves are too baggy for my arms. I'm still undecided on this top.

Short-sleeve Tee with Tie in Blush ($22.99 size small)

I really liked this top and then gradually grew to really hate it. The rayon material is super thin and wrinkly. I've seen the style millions of times before. I do really like the blush with black combination but I'm sure there are better tops out there that are made better or cost less.

Dot-Print Shirt Dress in Cream ($39.99 size x-small)

This is one item that I really, really adore. Upon first glance, the dress looked bland and dull but with the my favorite ribbon used as a belt, I love it! It just seems very modern yet classic at the same time and the bicycle wheel pattern is simply fabulous. (P.S. I thought they were fruits at first!)

 Poplin Dress in Navy ($39.99 size 4)

Oh the popular poplin dress. Honestly, I don't really like this. I tried to like it. I wore it around the house and sat and blogged in it. I tried different cardigans and shoes with it. I just really tried to love it and couldn't. Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty. But the sleeveless style probably just isn't for me. I also don't really like the colors of the stripes and the material gets horribly linty after just a few minutes of wear. The size 4 fits with some extra room -a size 2 would've been much better.

 Trench Coat in Navy ($54.99 size x-small)

The navy trench coat was one of the pieces that I had to get my hands on. I love the navy collar along with the pretty floral trim. It's a very fun, whimsical piece. However, as you can see, the sleeves are way too long for me. This is one of my definite keepers though and I'll either have to get it tailored or wear the sleeves cuffed a bit.

Yesterday after seeing the beautiful Cycle Dress with the pearl collar, I was desperate to get my hands on it. It was out of stock online and in stores (including the one I visited) but just 30 minutes ago, I checked the site and snagged it in a size 4! I also saw a few other items (in small sizes too) online still so go back and give it a try.

My Experience with Target and Mr. Wu..

My boyfriend and I arrived at Target at 6:30 a.m. (doors open at 8:00 a.m.) and we waited in the car until the other customers started rolling up. I quickly ran outside to secure my first spot in line at 7:15 a.m. I saw two chairs at the door and went in front of them as no one had been sitting there then entire time that I was in the parking lot.

Two gals suddenly ran out of their car to yell at me and tell me that they had been there since 4 a.m. and that those were their spots in line. Sure that's fine and all but I expect bodies to be holding places in lines not vacant seats.

I didn't want to cause a scene so I figured, "What the hey, it's only two people."

Others started to line up behind us and we chatted about items they wanted. Most seemed to have their eye on three popular items: the poplin dress, black trench coat, and kitty scarf.

About ten minutes before the store opened, the ladies in front had two more gals join them. They were forming their own small army. The others and I looked at each other in despair. We knew what was happening. They were going to barricade the aisles and hoard all the Jason Wu items for re-sale.

The others and I decided to join forces and grab things for each other if they were accessible. The doors opened. My boyfriend was sent to the accessories wall as I headed to the clothing racks.

The one thing that I wanted the most was no where to be found.

Luckily, my boyfriend was able to grab the last flap satchel for me. I had originally wanted the Straw Classic Flap Bag but after seeing both in person, the flap satchel looked much nicer (in my opinion.)
Anyways, when he was headed to the accessories wall, one of the women from the army tried to accuse him of running (to get him kicked out.) He's very tall so he has long strides but in no way was he running -he was walking next to me the whole time! Also, that same woman grabbed 95% of the bags and scarves for herself and loaded them into a cart.

As for the website, I tried buying a few items at 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. but the items kept disappearing from my cart. Also, the site wouldn't even open up on my laptop so I was forced to use my phone -I just kept having cart and account problems!

All in all, I did score some great items and I'm quite lucky compared to others. However, I'm very irritated that the group in front of me turned out to be re-sellers and I'm so disappointed that Target doesn't have a better policy. Online, they were limiting people to buying two of each item and I feel that they should enforce the same rule IN STORE. No one in their right mind needs 10 of the same purse and all the sizes of a single dress or skirt for just themselves.
