MC Oct/15 - Digi Frame Xmas Scene - Silent Night

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/MCOct15_DigiFrameXmasScene_SilentNight.html
I came across this digi image (with buildings scene) on Pinterest done by Monica Gomez. I thought the frame was great - the scene was nice too, but I'm not in to churches... so removed the scene and created my own...

I need to print and cut with my Silhouette... but that's a learning curve I'm not having the patience with, plus my printer is in an awkward position in relation to my cutter... I know excuses, excuses... So I will continue to fussy cut this frame... I also fussy cut the frame from tracing paper to use as a mask to stamp the scene...

Anyway I love the results however I created it.. You can see all the details and descriptions by clicking on any card image. Enjoy

I'm also using quote ("Good Friends..." 4pce set) and sentiment/design element stamps ("Silent Night" 2pce set); ("Winter Wonderland" 4pce set) by Quietfire Design, and eCut file available on the silhouette onLine store ("Winter Wonderland")

MC Sept/15 - CAS - Flourishes Leaves - With Sympathy

I love Flourishes stamps, bummer they're not around anymore...

I'm using "Falling Leaves" SS078 set. Stamped them on a piece of paper, scanned and created silhouette images of each stamp then cut with my electronic cutter - avoids fussy cutting BIG GRIN - after cutting out, stamped the linear ones with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

To color them, I sprayed water on my craft sheet and then added bursts from Ken Oliver's Color Burst (all the new colors except for Indigo), misted the mat again and then swished my leaves through the wetness. Allowed to dry naturally.

The sentiment (Elizabeth Craft Designs die "With Sympathy", also available at Quietfire Design) was die cut from white fun foam, first colored with Distress Stains (Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Wild Honey, Tarnished Brass), then I used mini pads ""Frayed Burlap". When dry, die cut and then hit the tops with some "Black Soot" and more burlap. Shrunk with a heat gun.

Side folded my white card (5"w x 7"h). Layered a piece of white Ruche cardstock, edge to edge.

Cut a piece of DP paper (DCWV "Elegant Wedding") and adhered to center of card front. Trimmed it with Peel Off border stickers. Adhered the falling leaves randomly and then adhered the sentiment using Best Glue Ever.

On the inside, stamped the quote "Invisible Tears..." using the black and clear embossed.

Applied some Distress mini pads to my craft mat, misted with water and stamped using the solid image stamps from the set. While I had the wetness on my mat, I ran a paintbrush through it and splattered on my card. I had some spare eCut leaves so added some of those as well.

Click on any image to enlarge. Enjoy

MC June/15 - Shimmer Thanks - My Friend

I just got some new toys... BIG GRIN, the bird stamp on the inside by Penny Black, love it and the embossing folder on the front by Ultimate Crafts - Allura Collection "Nine of Diamonds".

And I finally decided to play with my Shimmer Sheetz...

I side folded my white card (5"w x 7"h). Adhered a piece of pale pink textured cardstock edge to edge.

Inked up my embossing folder with Distress pad "Fossilized Amber", placed my white cardstock on the uninked side and then closed the folder and ran through my machine. Removed from folder and hit the high points with "Spun Sugar" Used a Prismacolor Brush Marker in a deep pink to draw my faux stitching. Trimmed it down and adhered to a bright blue textured cardstock. Used my layering ruler set to trim the border down to 1/16", tied some Sari ribbon "Sunrise" into a bow, which is a nice variegated ribbon, then adhered these two layers to the pink front.

Adhered some Sookwang tape to the back of a piece of pink Shimmer Sheetz and die cut the "Thanks". Must admit, I did have to help it a bit with my x-acto knife even using the newest Sizzix Precision Base metal plate. (ps I have the negative piece for another card...I also taped the little drop out pieces to the negative piece not to loose them...)

Added some Peel Offs flowers on the upper corners. Colored the negative of those flowers using a deep pink Spectrum Noir alcohol pen. Added some deep pink rhinestones on the lower corners.

On the inside, stamped the sentiment text (Quietfire Design) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Stamped the bird on branch (Penny Black "The Sweetest Sound") using Distress mini pads (on the bird: "Mustard Yellow", "Evergreen Bough", "Salty Ocean", "Black Soot", Tree branch: "Vintage Photo", "Picked Raspberry" & "Mowed Lawn".

Then sponged some blue using a dirty sponge around the edges.

MCJuly/13 - Maple Leaf Stencil - Thinking of You

I'm using my newest acquisition, a Dreamweaver stencil I won on the Dreamweaver June challenge blog. Thank you Lynell. Absolutely love this stencil. I was raised in Montreal and maple leaves are dear to my heart. Living in Calgary, there are very few maple leaves - sigh!! I miss them, especially in the fall when they have these glorious colors.

I digress... This is another CAS type card. I positioned my stencil to fit within my 4.25"w x 5.5"h white card, putting some post it notes around the exposed edges. Sponged Distress "Peeled Paint" and then a touch of "Pine Needles". Left the stencil in place and stamped with a background text stamp using Versafine "Smoky Grey".  Removed the stencils and kinda dry brushed the background using the sponge and "Tumbled Glass"

Stamped my sentiment (Quietfire Design) with "Black Onyx" and clear embossed.

Added a black Peel Off line around the perimeter.

Found a suitable butterfly (Memory Box "Vivenne") cut from gold cardstock in my stash and colored the body with the black, clear embossed and adhered to card.

Shimmer Sheetz - Els Class Cards

I had a wonderful afternoon today over at Paper Pastimes taking a class with Els Van deBurgt. It's been a while since I've done that... So we made 3 flip type cards all using Shimmer Sheetz in some way along with Els newest dies - love them.

You know how I feel naked when a card doesn't have some words on it, so came home and added sentiments and stamped quotes from Quietfire Design etc. as well as a bit of my calligraphy and some rub-ons.

I goofed on this first card with the lotus... I put the center rectangle on the wrong side. So had to improvise and added a neutral toned piece of Chiyogami paper. The Birthday wishes are white rub-ons and then I shadow outlined them with a black Micron pen. Stamped the quote (slightly altered... the first line is actually "may your home..." so cut the quote apart and realigned the words, then masked off what I didn't want) with Versafine Black Onyx on white cardstock and clear embossed. Trimmed down and adhered to inside.

The Shimmer Sheetz was colored with Alcohol inks, then embossed, then lightly sanded. The lotus is a Peel Off (love this peel off) on watercolor paper colored with Distress Markers and a waterbrush, then cut out and adhered to card with 3D foam dots with the center area having 2 layers of foam for a more rounded look. The edge of the card was outlined with black Peel Off lines.

Goofed a little again, but not drastically this time. We colored the tulips with the Distress markers etc on watercolor paper. But what I thought were two single leaf shapes - which I colored green, was actually another flower petal to give it more of a 3D look. So had to color another one (only had 1 so the other flower is missing the 3D look...). Wrote in "Spring Blooms" with a Micron pen in my "Fickle" font that I created.

Again we colored the Shimmer Sheetz with alcohol inks, embossed and sanded. Stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) on white cardstock with the black and die cut with Spellbinders "Tear Drop Circle". Sponged some Distress yellow and red around the edges and adhered to card.

Well finally got it right... Embossed the shimmer sheetz with the honeycomb pattern, then went over the high points with a Staz-On teal pad. It activates the Shimmer which is really neat. (something new for me). Those bees are so cute. We die cut them from a pearlized Shimmer Sheetz, then the body from yellow and black flocked paper and assembled. Some of the  flowers were dipped in Els Micro fine glitter. Stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) with Versafine Imperial Purple on white cardstock and clear embossed. Sponged some Distress Broken China and Peacock Feathers around the edges.

Click on any image to enlarge. Enjoy

MC Nov/12 - Blue Jays - When Friends Meet

click on card for larger view
This is one of my newest stamps from Local King Rubber "Gathering Place" that I got last weekend... I made stamp silhouettes and cut with my electronic cutter, then layered them on to my card front.

I started with a white card 5"w x 7"h. Stamped the Tree Line (Impression Obsession CAC) with Distress Crushed Olive & Pine Needles. Over stamped it with more Pine Needles and Gathered Twigs. Sprinkled some Distress embossing powder here and there for texture in various colors.

Stamped the cloudy sky (Impression Obsession) with Distress Tumbled Glass. Then inked up another cloud stamp (Flourishes) with the Tumbled Glass and a bit of Broken China and just tapped that stamp.

Cut my quote/sentiment (Quietfire Design) apart and arranged it horizontally, stamped with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Colored the heart with a red marker and embossed with red embossing powder.

After cutting my bird elements, colored the stamp with Distress markers, misted lightly with water and stamped the cut outs. Adhered to card front. Added some black/gold chain type Peel Offs for the hanging section.

And it fits for these challenges:
Inspiration Avenue  something with a heart or a queen
Crafty Ann's Challenge  #79  animal or birds (2nd entry)
Fashionable Stamping  #35  Home sweet home

MC Nov/12 - Quill Poinsettia - Noel

Click on card for larger view
Decided to make a few more quilled cards for show & share at my next quilling session this Wednesday... For this card I used holly leaves I had made at my last session, but inked them with Versafine Toffee and embossed with Queen's Gold.

I used a cream toned card - 4.25"w x 5.5"h

Embossed the front with Crafts Too "Holly" embossing folder, sponged lightly with a dirty red sponge and a touch of a brown one. Added some red rhinestones to the berries.

Added a Peel Off black lace border, a light green narrow ribbon and a red twisted ribbon.

Stamped the sentiment (Quietfire Design), one letter at a time on a diagonal with Versafine Black Onyx, filled the letters with a Quickie Glue Pen and sprinkled Ritz micro fine glitter "Stardust"

Sprayed Dylusions Red on some cardstock and dabbed with a dirty paper towel which left a bit of blue residue from a previous coloring... Die cut the Tattered Poinsettia (Sizzix Tim's die) - the 2 smaller sizes and curled them with my fingernail. Edged the petals with a Perfect Medium pad and embossed with white embossing powder. Layered the two together, then added yellow Stickles to the center. When dry, dotted them with a black Identi Pen. Adhered my quilled holly leaves.

It also fits for these challenges:
One Stop Craft Challenge  #206 Vintage Xmas

MC Sept/12 - Thanks

I needed a new thank you card for a friend who did me an appreciated kindness. She got me another Crystal Art Pick. I inadvertently ruined my first one almost as soon as I got it... Note to self: do not use it like a stylus... it is only meant to pick up tiny weeny bits of paper or gems etc.

So I drew out the letters for the word "Thanks" on a white cardstock, side folded, 5.5"w x 4.25"h card, outlined them with a black Zig Writer. Since it's the first day of fall, colored with Tombows, yellow, orange and a deep red, blending with some water. Not easy to blend on cardstock... so did my shadow outline with the brown Tombow, but as a solid thicker line. I then added Glossy Accents on the letters only.

Cut quill strips from a glossy magazine (new that Avenue magazine would come in handy...) and created the flowers, adhering them to a small black circle (a discard from a die cut). Die cut a flourish leafy branch (Cheery Lynn Designs) from some decorated papers from my stash, cutting it apart to suit my needs. Adhered to card, then adhered the flowers adding orange toned half pearl centers. The final touch was the gold Peel Off lines to create the border.

And it fits for these challenges:

Paper Take Weekly  Autmun colros
Digi Stamps 4 Joy  #53 use leaves as an embellishment
4 Crafty Chicks  #108 uese leaves
Old Back Porch  #38 card a week

MC Sept/12 - Fall Bouquet - Friends Are Those

I think I'm making up for lost time again... 3rd card in one day. Sheesh, but they had to come out of me, they were just percolating in my brain... BIG GRIN

So this time I checked and I'm using a Dreamweaver stencil...#LM196 (the vase)
The card is side folded cream toned 4"w x 8.5"h

I placed the stencil in the spot I wanted it to mark the top edge and then mask it, so I could stamp my berry branches (Stampington "Holiday Trims" 4 stamps on 1 block), which I did with Distress markers (red for the berries and brown with touches of green for the branches) then misted with water and stamped. Repeated the process for the 2nd branch.

Placed the stencil back, masking my edges and stamped the hexagon pattern (Local King Rubber "Bee Wax") with a blue Distress marker, misting with water and stamping. Dried it, then applied a medium thick layer of Pearlescent Dreamweaver paste.

Die cut my foliage (Impression Obsession "DIE030-S") from abstract decorated paper. Adhered them to card. Penciled a shadow line using a 2B pencil and then blending with a paper stump.

Stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) with Versafine Majestic Blue and touching it with black. Colored some half pearls with a red alcohol pen (Spectrum Noir) and placed them randomly on my stamped branch. Added gold Peel Off lines.

Im extremely happy with this card. ..

CBH Dec 27/11 - Flower Dies - Bonne Fete

This weeks Created By Hand  and Quietfire Creations theme is Flower Dies or "Out with the Old" no way do I do that theme - I keep everything... BIG GRIN

If you've checked out my blog lately, you'll see I did some perfume bottles on a card the other day, but this time I'm using Spellbinders "Heirloom Ornaments 2010" and "Nested Hearts" sets and for the flower that I did in that previous post, I used a punch, and this time used Spellbinder's "Dahlia" set.
