BLOOM with Abandon!

Hi friends - you haven't heard from me this much in forever, huh? :D

I am loving getting DIRTY over at Splitcoaststampers! Anyone else playing along this week? I made this card for a few of the challenges. I embossed the flowers from Stampin' Up's Upsy Daisy (I have loved this set forever) and a super old sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms in Hero Arts white embossing powder and then played with zig brushes and distress inks - the more color, the better!

Once it was completely dry, I cut out the part I liked best with the largest MFT pierced square die and mounted on kraft card stock with a super small border. I added a light brown wash to a layer of water color paper, a small strip of MFT DP and then created a small piece of foiled teal card stock using adhesive. I tied on some twine, tied a bow and called it good. Everything was mounted on PTI Hawaiian Shores card stock.

Tried to capture the shimmer

Gosh - writing it up, it doesn't seem like much but it basically took me all day doing bits and pieces to get it finished up. LOL Guess it's all that drying time for the water color and water?? Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

Crafts 4 Eternity - Summer Theme

Hi there - happy Friday! Welcome back to another challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity! This week we want to see projects with a summer theme; one lucky participant will win 2 images from Stamping Boutique.

Summer always makes me think of flowers and gardening; we had some beautiful pink and yellow flowers in our flower bed this summer...uh no, I don't know what kind; half our flowers were planted by our neighbor. HA - true story!

I made these watercolor cards quite some time ago inspired by Jennifer McGuire and the pink ones remind me somewhat of those in our flower bed. I created the background by smooshing some distress colors from my craft sheet onto the watercolor paper and then spraying with additional water - such a fun technique, then colored the flowers with distress markers. I added some shading/veins to the center of the flowers, also with a distress marker. I will say the paper warped quite a bit; I did buy some different paper to try so we'll see how it goes next time. I really like the look of masking off the edges allowing the watercolor flowers to shine through.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you take some time to join the fun!

Hugs,

Crafts 4 Eternity - Music

Hi friends - happy Friday! How was your week? Ours has been C-R-A-Z-Y...in 3 days (Monday - Wednesday), I had traveled 1600 miles with ZERO travel on Tuesday. GULP; crazy; I'll add another 150-200 miles to that on Friday. Lots of fun stuff, hope to share some of it soon! You can see a sneak peak of some of the fun on my Instagram feed! :D

This week at Crafts 4 Eternity, we want to see your projects featuring MUSIC; doesn't everybody love some good music? One lucky participant will win 3 free digital images from Michele at Crafts 4 Eternity!

I have had this stamp from Inkadinkado for ages and LOVE it so much! As I was working on a totally unrelated project, I saw the paper pad I was using included sheet music - seriously, doesn't get much easier than that. Super easy card, lots of distressing with both ink and a tool; a strip of vellum, a button, and some music washi tape on the inside finishes it off.

The layout was last week's MFTWSC237 (see below). A fun, skewed sketch; love sketches too!

Thanks for popping by; hope you have a great weekend! Our oldest has oral surgery this morning, then I'm picking up our middle one later in the day, she's been shadowing a neurosurgeon for 2 days (yes, she was IN the operating room with him); lots of good stories there too.

Take care!!

Hugs,

More Scribbled Circles Meets Retro Sketch

Happy Saturday friends - hope this post finds you all doing great and enjoying the weekend!

Retro Sketch #156 time frame to play along was extended - yeah for me, so I set to work just having fun using the sketch. I pulled out some older MME paper, PTI Scribble Circles and a heart die from MFT. The medium scribble circle was cut 4 times from SU! Real Red card stock and once from PTI's vellum - tiny polka dots. The heart was cut 7 times from misc. white card stock and the top heart embossed 3 times with Liquid Enamel embossing powder. Once the embossing cooled, I added Clear Wink of Stella and a thick layer of glossy accents. I also embossed the small space (line) with Liquid Enamel - man that color is gorgeous.

LOTS 'O LAYERS!
Layered it all together, added some thread, a double-ended fishtail flag of a larger polka dot vellum from PTI and some sequins - and that's it! Fun time playing.

Hope you have a great weekend! See you again soon!

Hugs,

UR Cool - Crafts 4 Eternity Reflection

Hi friends - HAPPY, HAPPY FRIDAY!

Our oldest returns to college tomorrow; she was lucky enough to snag an apartment (cheaper than the dorm) for this next semester, so we'll get her all moved in and settled tomorrow!

But today, the team over at Crafts 4 Eternity is sharing a recipe focusing on reflection - mirrors, sequins, reflective items, etc. I made this super tiny and cute Valentine card using MFT's Tag Builder #3.

Just for playing along and showing us something reflective on your card, one person will win 4 free images from Sassy Studio Designs.

My card is super simple using various elements from the tag builder set and one stamp set - MFT's Damask background - LOVE! I added sequins with a drop of glossy accents on top, coated the arrow in glossy accents, used silver card stock AND added some silver shimmer to the UR COOL silver cut out (although super hard to see in the photo).

Thanks for stopping by; hope you'll join the fun at Crafts 4 Eternity. Have a GREAT weekend!

Hugs,

Crafts 4 Eternity - Fave Color Combo

Hi friends - welcome back to another recipe challenge at Crafts 4 Eternity! This week, we want to see you create something - anything - with your favorite colors (must use at least two colors)! I, like many others, really like the 'pool' color - light blue/aqua color. Most the time I do something with chocolate (the color - LOL) thrown in, but this time, I used some red with a touch of that aqua color and made 3 super fast cards.

Just for playing along with us, one person will win 3 free digital images from Michele at Crafts 4 Eternity! Did you know she has a store? Sure enough, check it out HERE!

The layout comes from CAS(E) this Sketch #90 (CTS#90) - fun! I actually used a BG Copic on the bottom portion of the "hello" for an ombre effect but next to impossible to see in the photos. :( I added a layer of clear Wink of Stella to the stamped flowers, great sparkle IRL!

Anywho, thanks for popping in - hope you have a GREAT weekend! Ours will be busy - cross country meet and volleyball tournament, start times are the same...in two different cities. :( I hate missing any event!

Hugs,

Crafts 4 Eternity - I got lost!

Hi friends - how are you?

Ever have this great idea in your head but execution just doesn't bring it to life? Yeah...now you know why the title says "I got lost!" LOL

This week at Crafts 4 Eternity, our recipe is "Oriental Theme"... This week we are sponsored by Crafts 4 Eternity Craft Store, one randomly selected winner will receive a choice of 3 digital stamps - so go ahead, show us your Oriental Theme!!
crafts 4 eternity

Anyway, I was thinking oriental - red, poppy flowers, etc... My poppies didn't turn out red but I loved them anyway, so I just kept on keepin' on! LOL Michele's going to fire me for not turning out an oriental themed card; but work with me here okay? LOL!!

I used MFT's Grand Peaceful Flowers Stencil and modeling paste with distress inks; the leaves and stems are Bundled Sage and Forrest Moss; the flowers are Victoria Velvet and Fired Brick with some Cranberry dimensional pearls mixed in. And then the other flowers right in the middle are white modeling paste coated with SU! Dazzling Diamonds. I made this into a sympathy card adding a flag with the sentiment.

I added a strip of musical washi tape and then used a Copic to create the pink stripe right next to the washi tape. I used Tim Holtz watercolor paper; therefore the Copic ink is splotchy which I love!! I didn't coat the paper heavily, just enough to add a touch of pink. Finished it off with an olive button and 3 sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; I love when you visit...and shhhh....don't tell my boss I got lost trying to achieve my Oriental Theme. :D Be sure to join the fun, we love seeing your creations!!

Crafts 4 Eternity - Anything Goes

Hi friends - thanks for popping in! Hope you are having a GREAT day!!

This week at Crafts 4 Eternity, its a recipe we all love - "anything goes"! I made this card many, many months ago when my dear friend suffered the loss of her mother-in-law. She lived a good, long life - not sure that makes it any easier - but I wanted to make more of a 'happy' card to celebrate her life! AND while working on 'happy', I ventured into the Mixed Media realm - fun! The rainbow background was created with distress inks on watercolor paper. The image is from Stampin' Up (a really old one) and the sentiment is from Verve Visual. I don't think you can tell in the picture, but I added clear Wink of Stella to the flowers. I also flicked on some white paint for a bit more fun. The circles in the corners were done with a stencil and modeling paste colored with reinkers.

On the inside, you can REALLY see the Wink of Stella on the black strip - I took a close up so you could see the shimmer and shine. Just a standard strip of black card stock colored with the glitter pen.

TFL; hope you have a great weekend. Take care!!

Sketchy Time over at Crafts 4 Eternity

Hi friends!

How are YOU? Me? Meh...I've certainly had better weeks! For the first time in over 2 years, I had to miss a couple of hours of work ill! I'm fully recovered but it certainly set me back in getting things done.

Oh well, that's alright - I'm back this week with a super fun sketch from Michele at Crafts 4 Eternity; a great image from Wags 'n Whiskers and some fun little jingle bells - see 'em? :D

You know how it goes, play along using our fabby sketch and you could win 3 free digital images from Crafts 4 Eternity.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on the sketch! Some fun, deep, rich colors, yummy chocolate seam binding, grogeous twine from The Twinery and those little jingle bells. And doesn't that look JUST. LIKE. SNOW.??? Seriously?

I used 'puffy stuff' (a gift) on the snowman's hat and for the snow, but once applied for the snow, I added rock crystal candy on top, let it all dry overnight and then heated the next day for the puffiness - cute huh?

Hope you will join us at Crafts 4 Eternity and give the sketch a whirl; we love seeing your creations!
