Fanspiration Diva Dare ~ Day 5

Good morning friends! Tosh here, bringing you Day 5 of the Fanspiration Diva Dare! This month, we "dare" you to show us your new creations inspired by projects made by Verve fans! You can pick any little Verve project to inspire you, as long as it is not by one of our design team members (or yourself!) {grin}. To get your wheels a turnin', the Divas will be posting their Fanspiration creations using our newly released products right here each weekday for the next week and a bit :)

Oh my was it ever hard to choose a paper crafter, let alone one single card. Ya'll work magic with Julee's images and dies!! Well, while perusing the Verve Gallery in Splitcoaststampers, I ran across Colleen Dietrich's White Wedding card found HERE. I fell in love with the pure white design with such a variety of textures. And thought it would be fun to incorporate a Verve die as the focal image. So, I just turned my card on it's side and added the Flutterby die to it. I also finished the inside.

I've packed quite a bit of dies and images into this card...inside and out: Verve Stamps: Borderline (Sentiment), Lean On Me (Flower), Brighter Days (Inside Sentiment) and Stronger Love (butterfly and flight path on tag) A Cut Above Dies: Tiny Sweet Scallop, Pointed Flowers, Flutterby, and Jotted Heart die

I used Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock for the entire card for texture. The Flutterby butterflies were embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and sanded to bring the texture to the forefront.

I embossed the Lean On Me flower with White ep, added a bit of color with a Copic Marker, then diecut it using the Pointed Flowers die. I also added a little butterfly, from the Stronger Love set, to the Tiny Sweet Scallop tag, but it's hard to see with the flower over it.
For the inside, I framed the sentiment, from the Brighter Days set, with the Labels 3 die by Spellbinders, and colored the "happiness" banner with a Copic. The background is embossed with Sizzix and Cuttlebug embossing folders and I added a Velum heart diecut using the Jotted Heart die.

How fun is this Dare? Don't know where to start? Head over to the Verve Fan Gallery to peruse some projects, pick one then join in the fun...here are the details...

July Diva Dare 2012 ~ Day 8

Hello Verve Fans!! This is the last day for our Diva Dare inspirations. Have you been blown away by all the creativity as I have? I just had the opportunity to look yesterday since I've been on vacation with my family, and I tell you, these girls pulled out all the stops!!!

Just a quick recap...we're daring you to make a card or project with a Birthday Theme in honor of 4 divas and the boss lady's birthdays this month. In fact, it just happens to be Jen Tapler's birthday today, so if you have a moment, stop by her blog and spread some birthday wishes. And did you get a chance to wish our fearless leader and sweet friend, Julee, a birthday yesterday? If not, I'm sure she wouldn't mind prolonging her birthday to receive a few more. *grin*

Okay, maybe I should share how I answered the dare.

I usually go all embellishment crazy on a card, but as I was creating this one, I ended up with a pretty clean and simple look using the Ribbon Banner die, Plain Jane Fringe Flower, and a birthday sentiment from Joyful Blooms.

I love texture, so I stamped the Fringe Flower image, using Black Stazon, onto some felt and added a button, as well as a sweet little canvas tag with the birthday sentiment on it. As a backdrop to the sentiment, I added a little banner using Verve's Ribbon Banner die.

That's about it for this simple little card.
So, would you like a chance to win some fabulous new VERVE GOODIES? There are two ways to win:
  1. Play along with our Birthday Diva Dare. Link up your creation (posted July 16 or later) to the linky widget HERE on Day 1 before 6:00 pm MT on Sunday, July 29. One lucky stamper will win a $30 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we would love to see 'em!
  2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we share our birthday creations. One lucky commenter will win the Verve stamp set of his or her choosing.
Winners will be announced on Monday, July 30 right here on the Verve blog.

April Diva Dare 2012-Day3

It's day 3 of the Diva Dare, Tosh here, and I have the privilege of sharing with you today, how I interpreted the challenge.

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - All Aboard! It has been Grand Central Station around here lately, Julee gave birth to two beautiful baby boys and has had her hands full! So I am challenging you to use chipboard, corrugated cardboard, or kraft on your creation or project! We can't wait to see how you answer the dare!
Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

I love working with Corrugated Cardboard, so I used a piece to attach a sentiment from the Verve Joyful Blooms set. This set is filled with sweet little sentiments for just about any occasion. I used "celebrate today", because I feel that it's such a versatile sentiment. It can be used for any celebration: Birthday, Graduation, Engagement, or a milestone or special event.

Now, I wish I could take credit for this sketch, because seriously, I fell in love with it when I saw it. But all the credit has to go to Shannan for this week's Viva la Verve sketch found HERE. I just added some paper and embellishments.

I had made the flower a couple of weeks ago, and it fit beautifully in the sketch. (It's made with burlap, organza fabric, some fiber paper, a little lace trim, and a fabric rolled rose.

That's it for my project. I now challenge you to this month's dare!! ;)

Holiday Diva Dare ~ Day 2

Welcome to the Holiday Diva Dare! For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!
This month's theme is A Handmade Christmas! The theme is pretty broad and can be interpreted in so many different ways...from a lovingly made card, to heartfelt gifts and homemade decorations! With the Holidays right around the corner, this will be the perfect time to get a jump start on your card and gift making!
So, we DARE you to make a Handmade Christmas card or gift!
Here's how I answered the dare:

I've enjoyed decorating gift bags and making toppers for them this season. So I thought it would be fun to make a snowflake gift bag with some of Verve's fabulous wintery images!!! You can find a tutorial for the topper HERE. I made the topper first and decorated it with some snowflakes from the Verve sets: Frosty Flakes and Glad Tidings.
I made the sweet little tree by using the new Verve tree diecut from the set Winter Fun, and running it through a crimper.

The Sentiment is from one of the newly released sets, Bright Spirits. I made the medallion using the Tim Holtz Mini Paper Rosettes die along with the 2011 Snowflake Pendant and the Petite Scallop Circle dies by Spellbinders.
See the little snowflake ornament? That was made with the medium snowflake from the Glad Tidings set along with a new Verve die called Snowflake Tidings. And the icicles were made with a Martha Stewart Punch.

September Diva Dare - Day Four

Welcome to day 4 of this month's Diva Dare. This month, we DARE you to Case-a-Diva! With nineteen Divas (see the photos and links on the right sidebar), the inspiration is vast! For those of you that are wondering...CASE means to copy and share everything. And that is just fancy talk for copying! What you copy is up to you! It can be a layout, color scheme, or even something more subtle like a certain embellishment cluster!

You will find the links to all the Diva's blogs on the right sidebar, or you can visit their individual Verve galleries!

I have the distinct honor of CASEing Jackie. What fun to be "Jackie" for awhile. Channeling her diva skills, using her sketch...and ideas....*grin*. Pure stamping fun!!

Now comes the really hard part. Choosing one of Jackie's stunning cards. No easy task, let me tell you. I finally settled on THIS ONE, because I liked the layout and shapes she used. I don't normally think vertical like her sketch suggests, so it was fun to work with. She also has a fabulous way of working with colors and patterns. I loved the horizontal striped panel in the back.

Here's what I came up with.

I used the same set, Sunny Days, for the flowers and leaves, and added a sentiment from the set Making a Statement. I changed my shapes up a bit, and added some Webster's Pages flocked netting behind the main panel. I also changed my color palette.

August Diva Dare - Day 5

It's Friday, Tosh here to share with you what I've made for day 5 of this month's Diva Dare. For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month's theme is Sending Some Sunshine! If you all are anything like me, you have tons of cards sitting at home all piled up! I thought it would be fun to make an uplifting & cheerful card and actually send it to someone! There's nothing like opening your mailbox and seeing a handmade card...especially with some of Verve's encouraging sentiments on it! :-)

So, we DARE you to make an uplifting and encouraging card AND send it to someone in need of a little pick-me-up!

I started off by using Amber's fun Viva la Verve sketch for today. You can find it HERE. For each medallion, I used the Curvy Bookplate die with the matching image from the Tag Time set. I also used a variety of other Verve dies: Jotted Heart, Flutterby, and the little heart from the I Heart U die set. The leaves at the top are from the Verve set Sunny Days, as well as the middle sentiment, and the other two sentiments are from Faithful Phrases and Happy Phrases. I added a Spellbinders Beaded Circle behind the sentiment flags, some buttons, and lastly some burlap string.

Here's a closer look at each sentiment medallion:

July Diva Dare ~ Day 6

Tosh here with day 6 of our Diva Dare. Have you all enjoyed seeing the Diva's interpretation of this month's theme? I'm never disappointed by the creativity and inspiration these girls serve up each time they make a card or project.

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme -
Sentimental About Paper! It's time to dig into all that gorgeous patterned paper you've been hoarding saving (we know you have some!!)! Showcase all those amazing sentiment stamps (no images) to create a new and never before seen project! Paired with the pretty patterned paper (Peter Piper picked a pack of pretty patterned paper LOL!), Verve's famous sentiments will take center stage! While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em! To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

Now, for my card. I LOVE decorative paper. And I adore Julee's sentiments. So putting these two together just seems natural to me. I used some sentiments, from one of the sets in the most recent Verve release, called Small Phrases.

It's my 22nd Anniversary in a couple of weeks, so I made this card for my husband. I know, it's a bit frou-frou for a guy, but I figured I included black on the card...right? And love ought to be warm and fuzzy like a felt heart, full of sparkle like the glitter, layers like the paper, and all woven together like the stitches. So, do I sound corny now? lol

I thought these two sentiment portions, from Small Phrases, fit perfectly for what I wanted to say: Love always, with all my heart. I think the fonts are just super charming and fit the style and feel I wanted to achieve in today's card.

I diecut the heart out of one of the Fancy Tags 3 Spellbinder dies, and backed it with a piece of felt. I also inked up the entire diecut with Versamark, and Embossed it with Irridescent Ice ep by Stampin' UP!.

The medallion in the bow center was made with Viva Decor gel and an antique button silicone mold, and the dp is all "It's the little things" by Fancy Pants. Including the cute "ace" card.

April Diva Dare ~ Day 8

Hi Verve fans! Welcome to Day 8 of the April Diva Dare!

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - April Showers Bring May Flowers! With the warmer weather, new growth, and all the fresh and beautiful blooms that abound, it is easy to be inspired by Spring! How you interpret the dare is completely up to you! To sweeten up the challenge, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

Here's how I answered the challenge:

I mixed one of Verve's newest releases Hope Blooms, with May's Stamp of the Month set Dare to Be. One of the many beauties of working with Verve images is that they all mix and match so well!!

My daughter graduates from High School next week, so I thought "Dare to be You" was the perfect sentiment to use to make a card for her with a frame of bright and cheerful flowers. All I did was stamp the largest Hope Blooms flower with Rocket Red Gold Brilliance ink, and shade the edges a bit with Persimmon VersaMagic. After the sentiment panel and flowers were dry, I added a layer of Shimmer with some Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz by Tsukineko. If you click on the photo below you can see it a bit better. It's very subtle.

Lastly, I added some Stardust stickles dots around the flower centers, some basic vertical embossing stripes with my Scor-Buddy, a button with embroidery thread and a punched border. Very easy!

March Diva Dare - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the March Diva Dare!! Here's how our Diva Dare works... following each release, we post a theme we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Color Me Spring! Whether you are shoveling snow off of your sidewalks and only dreaming of warmer weather or you are already enjoying the first blooms of the season, this challenge is sure to put a spring in your step! How you interpret the challenge is up to you! Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

This is how I answered the dare...

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Not too hot, and color everywhere!! When I think spring, I think of flowers, birds, butterflies, and new life. So, I made a wedding card (new life together) with flowers and butterflies. And since I was thinking about all things new, I thought I'd try a new technique. Now, I've made easel cards before, but never a Circle Easel. So this was fun!

I'm a die and punch-a-holic, so while designing this card, I knew I was going to use the new A Cut Above dies. Julee thinks of everything when she designs. I LOVE how each die in the Charming Oval and Charming Banner dies works with each other. I have a perfect mat around each shape (no more cutting...ye-haw!!), and the banners fit perfectly inside the ovals. How sweet is that!!! Then there's the sweeeeeeeet Flutterby die!! Love the two sizes of these butterflies too. You can find the large one in the Chicks Rule set, and the smaller one in the Egg-stra Special set. I added a bit of Stardust Stickles to the centers to make these flying beauties pop. And, since I wanted to make this a wedding card I combined images and dies from the newest release with sentiments from a previous release called Love Story. Julee's designs work that way...mixing and matching is not only a breeze, but oh so fun!!

Here's a close up of the smaller Charming Banner Die paired with the Charming Oval Dies, along with the sweet Flutterby image that I cut with the Flutterby die.

And here's a close up of the Charming Oval dies that I included on the inside of the card.

January Diva Dare ~ Day 4

Hello everyone, Tosh here, and it's my turn to share with you my interpretation of this months Diva Dare Theme, Baby Love, which is as follows:

We dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Baby Love! The baby part could be for a new little someone...or a special someone! Be sure to look for the details on how you can win some new Verve goodies at the end of this post!

Well, I have two children. One is a college Junior out of state, and my baby girl is going out of state to college also: twice as far I might add. *sniff* Anyway, she has informed me that she would like a lot of cards sent her way while she's there, and that got me to thinking. Why not make her an encouragement box filled with 6 magnets that she can alternately display on her refrigerator depending on her mood. This is what I came up with:

First of all, here's what the box looks like. It's just a paper mache box painted with white acrylic paint. The dp is all from Twinkle, Twinkle Little Boy (MME) shhhhh...don't tell her I used boy paper. She likes blues/greens, and this paper fit perfectly. *grin*

The sides each have a panel using the Classy Label and Embossed Oval Verve Cut Above Dies. I won't inundate you with photos of each side because they all look the same with a different sentiment in the center: "Look out World" and "You Go Girl" - To the Moon, "Hugs" - Love Notes, "You Rock" - Sweet Treats

I added some glitter around the frame and to the swirls, along with the hearts for a bit of sparkle.

Here's a look at the top.
The flower was made with the Tattered Florals Tim Holtz die and some core'dinations paper. Some Frosted Lace Stickles and a pearl brad were added to bling it up a bit too.

The little pick was made with a Tim Holtz idea-ology Memo pin, Labels 5 and Classic Oval Nestabilities, and the Butterfly is from the Verve set Blue Skies. The "XOXO" is from the Love Notes set.

Here's a look at all the magnets I included inside the box. The Verve stamp sets used were:
Blue Skies, Feel the Sun, To Risk, Psalm 121:1-2, Hebrews 11:1, 1 Peter 5:7, I also used Tim Holtz's Styled Labels Dies for the shapes, Sizzix Scribbles Swirls, and chipboard to make the magnets sturdier.

Stamps: Sweet Treats, To the Moon, Love Notes, Blue Skies, Feel the Sun, To Risk, Psalm 121:1-2, Hebrews 11:1, 1 Peter 5:7
Paper: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Boy (My Mind's Eye), Brown and White (PTI), core'dinations
Ink: Onyx Black and Vintage Sepia (Versafine), Red Brick (Versamagic)
Accessories: Dies: Classy Label and Embossed Oval (Verve), Labels 5 Classic Oval and Rectangle (Spellbinders), Styled Labels and Tattered Florals (Tim Holtz Alterations - Sizzix), Scribbles Swirls (Sizzix), Copics, Star Dust and Frosted Lace Stickles, Quickie Glue Pen, Glitter, Rhinestones (Kaisercraft), Memo Pins (Tim Holtz Idea-ology), Pearl Brad, Chipboard, Buttons (PTI), Dimensional Tape, Paper Doilies, Organza Ribbon, Lace

That's it for my project. I can't wait to give it too my daughter. A lot of love went into it, and hopefully she'll think of that every time she looks at it while away.

So......will you answer the dare? If so, here are some details:

1. Play along with us and link up your new Baby Love creation (posted January 14th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY ONE Diva Dare post before midnight MST on January 29th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we would LOVE to see ‘em!

Winter Release Project Parade ~ Day 9

Can you believe it's the last day of November already? WOW! 2010 is almost done. Well, since the theme for this month's project parade is "Triple Play", I have three projects to share with you. I decided to decorate a frame ornament, the gift bag to put it in, and a card to go with the gift.

First, here's the card: All the images I used are from the Glad Tidings set. I'm a sucker for snowflakes!!

I started off die cutting the frame with Spellbinders' Labels 2 Nestabilities. For the inner frame, I just turned the Label die 90 degrees. I then sponged the edges with Aquatic Splash VersaMagic Ink. The back panel has the snowflakes stamped with Versamark on them. I used Irridescent Ice embossing powder on them, but if you don't have a glittery ep, just add some glitter to your transparent ep to get the subtle sparkly effect. Here's a close up of the snowflakes.

The sentiment was stamped with Onyx Black Versafine, and I added some White Opaque Vivadecor gel dots with glitter around the frames. Lastly, I added some silk ribbon with silver cord, an antique button, tiny blue rhinestones, and some scoring, piercing, and punching to the border.

Now, for the ornament frame:

Frames are an easy gift. I just took this birdcage ornament that I got from Pottery barn, and added the Glad Tidings Snowflake and Christmas Blessing images to the 2" circle frame. The recipient can either replace the stamped piece with a photo, or leave it as is. I thought it would be fun to add a little gift inside too, so I sewed a little organza bag and added some Hershey Kisses. I thought the blue foil fit perfectly with my color theme.

Finally, the gift bag:

I stamped the tag image and sentiment with Onyx Black Versafine, and diecut it with the new Sweet Scallop Die. I then sponged the edges with Aquatic Splash Versafine, and added some blue glitter to the flake with a Quicky Glue Pen. I again stamped the snowflakes onto the bag with Versamark and added the Irridescent Ice ep. Here's a closer look at the flakes and tag:

To top off the bag, I added some satin ribbon, silver cording, and a button.
I love all the sparkle with this project. It really pops irl!! Hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared with you today.

Now, it's your turn!

August Release Project Parade: Day 6

Hello friends!! Tosh here, and I'm so excited to share my project with you today. One of my favorite things about Verve images is that they're so versatile. So when I found out the theme this release was going to be "Something Old, Something New", I was thrilled. Wedding ideas immediately come to mind, but you don't have to take that direction. This is a challenge, for anyone who would like to play along, to use a previously released Verve stamp set with one of the new sets that was just released this August 20th. (If you don't have the newest Verve sets - no worries, just mix an older set from your stash with a "new to you" stamp set and join the fun!)

I decided to make a Christmas gift set and mix 3 different sets: Fabulous You (August 2010 Release), Christmas in the Air (October 2009 Release), and Bountiful Backgrounds (August 2009 Release)

First of all, I used this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch for the card. I stamped the Fabulous You Frame onto Silver cs with Versamark and embossed it with Detail Black ep. All the snowflakes from Christmas in the Air were embossed also and have a microfine glitter added to them. Because the glitter is so fine, it's hard to capture with the camera. Believe me, I tried every angle possible. It just wasn't happening. *sigh* Anyway, the background was created wth the striped/dot image combo from the Bountiful Backgrounds set. Because Julee's images are clear, it's quite easy to line the stripes up for a perfectly striped bg.

I added some Frosted Sheer Shimmer Spritz (Tsukineko) to the blue card stock to keep the sparkly theme going throughout.

Now for the box. I used all three sets on here as well, along with adding Glittery Spellbinders Snowflakes dies to the top. For the sentiment, I just inked up the words "I believe" from the sentiment "I believe in you".

Here's a view from the top:

That sums up my project for today. I hope I've helped inspire you to mix it up a bit. I know I've been inspired by the previous projects by the Divas. I'm always amazed to see where their creativity takes them. I'd love to see where it takes you too. Haul out those older images, and show us your combination.
