April Diva Dare 2012 ~ Day 5

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - All Aboard!   It has been Grand Central Station around here lately, Julee gave birth to two beautiful baby boys and has had her hands full!  So I am challenging you to use chipboard, corrugated cardboard, or kraft on your creation or project!  We can't wait to see how you answer the dare!  Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!
Hi Everyone, Sankari here with my take on the Diva Dare for this month! My son's teacher had a special project planned out for Earth Day - a project that she had seen done on Martha Stewart and she asked if I could help her class make piggy banks with recycled water bottles.
I couldn't wait to get started! I thought it would be fun to create a piggy bank for our family. We could all save up for something fun to do together! I made a little card for our family to write about all the different activities we want to save up for and all the fun ways we can celebrate each day. I thought it would be fun for our kids and my DH and I to each write in this card - the kids were so excited to get started on daily celebrations!!!

I made the card using kraft accents and some scrap pieces of paper with the focus on the sentiment: "celebrate today" from the Joyful Blooms stamp set from Verve Stamps and the stamped ribbon from the Super Dad stamp set:
Here is the little piggy that I made using the perfect sentiment: "enjoy" from the new stamp set: Small Celebrations from Verve Stamps. I love the sweet little flower with this set and the sentiment is just font-a-licious :) (sorry, I couldn't help it - love this font!).

Project Details:
Stamps: Small Celebrations, Super Dad  and Joyful Blooms from Verve Stamps
Inks: Memento Bahama Blue and Sky Blue
Accessories: brads, EK success label punch and border punch, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, square and circle punches, ribbon from stash, paper from stash, 4 oz water bottle, wiggly eyes, wooden pushpins, dimensionals, double sided tape and twine.
Idea for the Piggy Bank: Martha Stewart Crafts

I made this little piggy using scraps of paper and added some wooden pushpins and wiggly eyes for accents. The kids are so excited to contribute to our new Family Fun Time Piggy Bank and have already put pennies and nickels and dimes to start saving up for something fun that we can do as a family (top on the list is roller skating!). I love all of the new Verve stamps - and how simple and perfect this sentiment is to make this little Family Piggy Bank  a way to savor, enjoy and celebrate each day with special family moments together!

Holiday Diva Dare - Day 3

Welcome to the Holiday Diva Dare!  It's Sankari here with the details of the challenge and then my project for the Diva Dare this month:

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month's theme is A Handmade Christmas! The theme is pretty broad and can be interpreted in so many different ways...from a lovingly made card, to heartfelt gifts and homemade decorations!  With the Holidays right around the corner, this will be the perfect time to get a jump start on your card and gift making!

So, we DARE you to make a Handmade Christmas card or gift!

I answered the dare by making a little banner to hang on our front door. I have always enjoyed making handicrafts that can be hung on our door and our kids get so excited for the next season with a new doorway banner or wreath. After Thanksgiving, I am excited to hang up this little snowy banner on our door using the Bright Spirits Stamp set. I love this sentiment: "May your Spirits be Bright" and the sweet little star shape that can be both a flower or snowflake. I created a little ornament that I saw while surfing awhile ago and then saw again made in our LSS (hi Cynthia!) and couldn't wait to add as a big rosette to the banner:

Here is the center piece of the banner - I created a double star and used the Winter Fun Die set that has this beautiful tree to create little icicle pennants for the top:

I had some glittery snowflakes from a previous project that I added to the center of the large rosette and then layered the sixpoint snowflake (large and small) from the Bright Spirits stamp set into the middle and added a little button to the center:
Here is a side view of the banner and the layers:

Project Ingredients:
Papers: Yellow Bicycle Winter Twig
Inks: Memento Danube Blue
Accessories: Winter Fun Die Set from Verve Stamps, snowflake punch from MS, dimensionals, Spellbinders, red tacky tape, pearl embellishment from Want2Scrap, ribbon, jumbo eyelets from WeRMemory Keepers, Chipboard and liquid pearls

I loved this challenge and love making home decorations! I am so excited to hang this on the door after Thursday and surprise my little ones with a new door hanger and get ready a beautiful season of Merry and Bright Spirits!!!

September Diva Dare-Day 6

Good morning Verve fans it is Teresa, welcome to day 5 of this month's Diva Dare. This month, we DARE you to Case-a-Diva! With nineteen Divas (see the photos and links on the right sidebar), the inspiration is vast! For those of you that are wondering...CASE means to copy and share everything. And that is just fancy talk for copying! What you copy is up to you! It can be a layout, color scheme, or even something more subtle like a certain embellishment cluster!
You will find the links to all the Diva's blogs on the right sidebar, or you can visit their individual Verve galleries!
I am thrilled to be casing the one and only Sankari, her style is amazing and set apart....you can view her amazing gallery here.  I knew I wanted to use liquid pearls on my card and was drawn to this stunning card here.  I luv the yellow and kept that in my card.  Sankari also uses lots of hearts, I am a fan of hearts too....I knew I wanted to keep that element as well.  I made my paper pleats at the bottom where she has the banners. I wanted to use lots of liquid pearl dots to honor Sankari, it is her signature style.  I used the verve sentiment from the set Great Friend, the heart is the Jotted Heart Die....luv!  I luv the way my card turned out, I sure hope Sankari likes it!  This was a super fun challenge I hope you will join us and Case-a-Diva this month too.  It is definitely worth playing for, Verve goodness is the prize.

September Diva Dare - Day 5

Hi Everyone! It's Sankari here and welcome to day 5 of this month's Diva Dare. This month, we DARE you to Case-a-Diva! With nineteen Divas (see the photos and links on the right sidebar), the inspiration is vast! For those of you that are wondering...CASE means to copy and share everything. I was so excited to CASE Ms. Andrea and try to channel her Ewen Style - holy smokes - can I just say that all I have been doing is drooling over her cards and trying to figure which one I could possibly CASE - wowza - each card is so beautiful and lovely - it was hard to pick just one! Andrea has such an amazing way of creating dimension, depth and texture and creating beauty with everything she touches! This card that I made was CASED from THIS beauty that Andrea made - and wow - what a great layout and love the colors and the ribbon in her card! I tried my best to make Andrea proud in making my card and tried to do justice to her gorgeous creation.  I used the This and That paper collection from LilyBee Designs and tried to get my Ewen Style on :) and used the sweet and inspiring sentiment that I paired together from the Tag Time stamp set.

Card Ingredients:
StampsTag Time from Verve Stamps
Paper: LilyBee Designs (This and That 6x6 paper pad), Bazzil cardstocks
Inks: Memento Ladybug Red and Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Martha Stewart border punch, Spellbinder's circle punch and lacy nesties, butterfly punch from Martha Stewart, Pearls from Want2Scrap, BoBunny ribbon center treatment, May Arts silk ribbon, heart pins, MME ribbon, liqud pearls and dimensionals.

I love the side curvy bracket shape that Andrea used and not having that die, I tried to draw out the squiggley shape and cut it out. I added two little butterflies on either side with a little pearl in the center and had to add a scallopy edge to the tops and bottom of the card in tribute to Andrea's amazing way of working with punches - that girl has such a way with punches I tell ya! And I couldn't stop until I had added a couple of lines of liquid pearls around the edges of the card ;)

This was such a fun challenge and I look forward everyday to see how everyone is CASing each other! And you can play along too and Case-A-Diva and score some yummy new Verve!

August Diva Dare - Day 6

Hi Everyone! It's Monday (hope you have enjoyed/are enjoying this Labor Day weekend!)  and its Sankari here to share with you what I have made for day 6 of of this month's Diva Dare. For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge. During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month's theme is Sending Some Sunshine! And one of the goals of the challenge is to actually mail it/send it to someone! I love making cards - but somehow am not the very best at actually sending it out! So, we DARE you to make an uplifting and encouraging card AND send it to someone in need of a little pick-me-up!

Initially, I had a different card in mind that I wanted to make for this challenge, but after a surprise party on my birthday this weekend, I wanted to make thank you cards filled with love and sunshine to send to all the lovely people who made this birthday simply beyond awesome! I am the worst at sending thank you cards! So I was excited to sit down at my craft desk and was amazed at how rather quickly I was able to make 12 little 3x3 thank you cards using the You and I stamp set and the awesome I Heart you die and Tagged Rectangle die  from Verve Stamps. Here is a close look at one of the thank you cards that I made:

I cut out all the cardstock and DP and adhered them all as a first step. For the next step, I die cut out the U's and punched out the hearts and then for the third step - stamped the word "Thank" with Rouge ink and then adhered it to black cardstock for a mat. I then adhered all the elements together and then for the final step I added some bling and buttons and then put the front and back part of the card together with an eyelet: Here is a look at them all in a row.

And here is a view of the cards from above - I used the eyelet to adhere the two cardstock pieces together so that it could open out like a card:

And it was fun to lay them all down on the table and just take a group shot of them:

And here is a view of how it looks when it is opened. I varied each card a little with the bling or with the buttons or with the DP - so they are all unique in their own way:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Aunthentique and black cardstock from Bazzill
StampsYou and I stamp set from Verve stamps
Inks: Chalk Ink Rouge, Memento Inks: Tuxedo Black ink
A Cut Above Verve Dies: I Heart you die set and Tagged Rectangle die from Verve stamps
Accessories: eyelets from We R Memory Keepers, ribbon from American Crafts, Butterfly punch from MS, Spellbinders, sponger, heart punch and bling.

I am excited to write out my thank you cards today and have them ready to go out into the mail tomorrow! YAY! I am so grateful for my dear friends and one of my big goals is to get better about sending out cards to my dear friends and family and this was the perfect challenge to get me going in that direction!!!

I can't wait to see your creations with this challenge - you can check out the details below in how you can play along with this month's Diva Dare!

Big hugs, Sankari :)

PS - A huge thank you to dear Julee for her awesome birthday love shout out on her blog with this beautiful card post! You are such an inspiration dear Julee!!

July Diva Dare - Day 7

Hi Everyone! It's Sankari here today, with Day 7 of our July Diva Dare. This month's release was full of amazing sentiments - so we wanted to highlight that for the July Diva Dare:

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Sentimental About Paper!  It's time to dig into all that gorgeous patterned paper you've been hoarding saving (we know you have some!!)!  Showcase all those amazing sentiment stamps (no images) to create a new and never before seen project!  Paired with pretty patterned paper, Verve's famous sentiments will take center stage!  While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em!  To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

The sentiments that Julee has created are perfect for every single occasion - or even where there is no occasion - but you want to make a "just because card". I love all the phrases in the Small Phrases stamp set and combined two of the sentiments to create this one welcome home baby card for my friend's son:
"Sweet Baby Boy, You Are Loved":

I used the fun papers from the My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup Collection (Boys) and used the star cut outs to decorate this horizontal long card. Each star was tied to the top with some Baker's Twine and then I stamped both sentiments onto the ticket cut out that popped up on the side with some hearts for accents. I love that these stamps are so flexible together and it was so easy to line up and stamp the second sentiment because it is acrylic and you can easily see where you are stamping! This was such a fun card to make and I can't wait to combine more of these Small Phrases together!

March Diva Dare - Day 2

Welcome to Day TWO of the March Diva Dare!  Here's how our Diva Dare works... following each release, we post a theme we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Color Me Spring!  Whether you are shoveling snow off of your sidewalks and only dreaming of warmer weather or you are already enjoying the first blooms of the season, this challenge is sure to put a spring in your step! How you interpret the challenge is up to you!  Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

This is how I answered the dare...

When I think of spring.... one of the things that I think about is our wee little daughter and her birthday next week! She born on Easter (a week after her duedate!) and when she was born, all the nurses at the hospital gave her little bunnies and baby chick stuffed animals - so sweet! So for my  Color Me Spring, I decided to make a little birthday present for my little chickie :) I made a card and a coordinating footstool/bench that I painted and then covered with modpodge to protect it and then covered it with a light glaze.  I painted it in her favorite color: purple! Here is a picture of the little giftset that I made for my chickie princess:

I painted a white footstool with purple and then covered it with the papers from the EP Springtime collection. For the footstool, I created a little layout using Charley from the Chicks Rule collection, as well as her friends from the To The Moon stamp set (adding a bright pink bow to their head :)

On the sides of the little bench - I stamped the sentiment: "Chicks Rule" from the Chicks Rule stamp set and added hearts from the Love Notes stamp set.

Here is a picture of the top of the little bench:  I cut out the larger shape using the Grand Calibur and then added a scalloped edging on the sides. I love this sentiment - because it is so true - my little 3 year old is totally one of the coolest chicks I know! I stamped little Charley and her friends and paper pieced them using the DP and then added a pink bow to each of them from the Chicks Rule Stamp set.

Here is the birthday card for me little princess :) One of my favorite things that my daughter does every morning when I leave to go to work, is open the window and she watches me walk to the car and when I open the car door - she always yells out "I love you" and I say "I love you too!" and then we both wave to each other - its one of my favorite parts of our morning routine - so I thought that I would make little Chole wave from out the window. I created a little cut out shape and then added shutters and added a little window basket by cutting out half of  the basket from the Chicks Rule stamp set. I added the happy birthday sentiment from the Birthday Bash stamp set into the newly released Charming Oval die set from A Cut Above dies from Verve stamps:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Springtime collection from EP and purple prism papers
Stamps: Chicks RuleLove Notes (for the little trio of pink hearts), To the Moon (for the little monkey, bear and elephant) , Birthday Bash (for the sentiment)
Inks: Memento Tuxedo black, Grape Jelly, RoseRed
Accessories: liquid pearls, pink ribbon from stash, Spellbinders, bling, copics, sponger, dimensionals, scorpal, star hatpin, stickles (Diamond), Martha Stewart heart punch, footstool from Michaels, copics and bling.

I love spring and I love being able to leave the snowsuits at home and go for a walk with my kids! I am excited to decorate the house in pink and purple for our daughter's springtime birthday and even more excited to give her this Chicks Rule giftset :) Hope you will play along with the Diva Dare challenge and share with us your Color Me Spring creation!

January Diva Dare ~ Day 3

Hi Everyone! It's Sankari here with Day 3 of the Diva Dare, where this month its all about Baby Love, baby! Here are the deets:

We dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Baby Love!  The baby part could be for a new little someone...or a special someone!  Be sure to look for the details on how you can win some new Verve goodies at the end of this post!

Can I tell you how much I have been loving the sweet little animals that Julee has created with the To The Moon stamp set? Each of the little baby animals are soooo adorable and I couldn't wait to give them some more love for my project today. One of our sweet friends is having a baby in a couple of months (a wee baby girl!) and so I couldn't wait to create a little somethin' somethin' for her and her little bundle of preciousness :) I used this little onesie template (created by stampercolleen on SCS) and decided to create a little onesie card and matching giftbag:

For the onesie, used yummo Pixilicious papers and cut out the onesie pattern and outlined it with a bit of liquid pearls and used the little teddy bear with the window frame technique (Jackie and Amy - I totally love how you did the little guy in the window and I couldn't wait to "window" him too :D I punched out a little heart for him to hold and popped up the sentiment "welcome" on the side.

Card Ingredients:
StampsTo the Moon stamp set from Verve Stamps:
Papers: Pixilicious from CC and cardstock from PTI
Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa, Tuxedo Black and Grape from Memento
Accessories: MS heart punch, bling, eyelets, EK sucess punch, dimensionals and button from stash.

For the giftbag, used one of the 6x6 pages from the DP set and had that as the background with another paper pieced onesie on the front. I decorated this onesie with the Classy Oval frame from the Love Notes stamp set. I stamped the sentiment: "Sugar and Spice and everything nice" onto the frame and then attached a little bear with a heart on it and popped it up onto the gift bag. I finished the bag off with a bit of ribbon:

Gift Bag Ingredients:
StampsTo the Moon and Love Notes stamp sets from Verve Stamps
Papers: Pixilicious by CC
Inks: Grape and Rich Cocoa (Memento)
Accessories: Giftbag, liquid pearls, MS heart punch, ribbon from stash, buttons and dimensionals

It was so much fun to create this for my friend and love this month's Baby Love theme!!! I can't wait to see what you will create with the Baby Love theme:

So......will you answer the dare?  If so, here are some details:

1. Play along with us and link up your new Baby Love creation (posted January 14th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY ONE Diva Dare post before midnight MST on January 29th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we would  LOVE to see ‘em!

Winter Release Project Parade - Day 1

Hello Verve Fans! I am so excited to kick off the Verve Winter Release Project Parade for you today! The theme of this month's Project Parade is "Triple Play" - where the challenge is to create a terrific trio of yumminess! This can be to create three different things that all coordinate (like a bag, a card and a tag) or to create three different cards or three different cards. There are so many different possibilities for a Verve-a-licious trio of yumminess that its hard to choose anyone set, so I thought it would be fun to create a giftset from a couple of different stamp sets. I love making little gifts that I can have on hand and it was fun to create this little trio consisting of a card, a mug filled with everything ready for some hot cider with mulling spices and a CD that you can burn with your very own holiday playlists. Here is a picture of my holiday trio:

I used this week's lovely Mojo Monday sketch #165 for my card and used the sentiment from the Plain Jane Christmas Blessings. I stamped the Sweet Scallop Tag three times and cut it out using the Sweet Scallop Die and then embossed the cut tags with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I love the tag from the Glad Tidings stamp set and stamped it three times and cut out the snowflake and adhered it to the Sweet Scallop Dies.
I created three of these tags for each of my projects to coordinate all three items together. For the second part of my triple play, I created a little mug filled with a small bottle of mulling spices, some cinnamon and a teeny little grater for the cinnamon. Nothing quite says winter like the delicious smell of mulling spices in baked goods or in hot cider :) I used the sentiment "Just For You" from the Glad Tidings stamp set and used the sentiment "Merry" from the Merry Wishes stamp set.

I used the medium and small snowflakes in the Glad Tidings stamp set to create a little topper for the bottle of mulling spices and decorated the rest with some ribbon and twine. Here is another angle for what is in the mug:
For the last project in my triple play, I cut out some cardstock for the decorated it as an insert for a CD. I thought it would be fun to create a holiday playlist and burn a couple of copies as quick presents. I used the sentiments from the Merry Wishes stamp set to create this sentiment: "Joy to the World".
The ribbon can slide out for the CD case to open. I stamped some snowflakes from the Glad Tidings stamp set in Stazon Ink (first, I burned our holiday music onto the CD and then stamped and I heat set the snowflakes for a second after stamping it)

Project Details:
Paper: Echo Park Merry Christmas Collection and Bazzill cardstock
Ink: Memento Bamboo leaves, Cottage Ivy, LadyBug Red, Stazon Olive ink and copics
Accessories: twine, heart punch, Spellbinders, MS snowflake punch, white gel pen, small bottle for the mulling spices, a holiday mug, CD case and ribbon from stash

I loved making each of the creations for today's Winter Project Parade's Triple Play and can't wait to see what you are going to create with the Triple Play challenge!!!

August Release Project Parade: Day 4

Hi Everyone, It's Sankari here! I am always amazed by everything the Divas create and for this special Verve Project Parade where we are mixing it up with the theme "Something Old, Something New, it's been fun to see so much Verve (new and old stamps). The Theme this month doesn't necessarily mean wedding (but of course it could) - its a challenge for anyone who would like to play along to use a previously released Verve stamp set with one of the new sets that was just released this August 20th. (If you don't have the newest Verve sets - no worries, just mix and older set from your stash with a "new to you" stamp set and join the fun!

In thinking of something old and something new - I thought I would create something new from this old wooden box that I have had for over 10 years.
I painted the box the colors from the Pixilicious colors from Cosmo and then as I waited for it to dry, I cut the cardstock for my card (measures 5.5" x 5.5"). I wanted to use all the lovely flowers that Julee has designed in her Verve stamps, but couldn't fit them all into one card ;) so I picked three sets with the gorgeous flowers that Julee has designed and created a coordinating gift box to go with it as well.
I love everything about Julee's stamp creations - all the details and fonts are so perfect and in mix and matching the stamps - the hardest part was choosing which stamps to use! Julee always amazes me with her amazing designs! I love all the Verve Flowers - Here is a close up of the card: The big flower and the third flower are from the Great Friend stamp set, the second flower is from the Feel the Sun stamp set and the last flower is from the Dream Big stamp set. The inspiring sentiment is from the Kind Words stamp set - I absolutely love the font in this sentiment!
Here is another picture of all the different flowers from the different stamp sets:

Here is a picture of the giftbox that I painted. I used the sentiment and border from the Framed Wishes stamp set.
Here is another angle of the flowers - I paper pieced them as well as colored them in with copics and then layered them with some dimensionals:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: PTI base cardstock and Cosmo Pixilicious papers
