January Diva Dare- Day 12

Hey there!  It's Laurie here with today's Diva Dare.  I have a fun CAS card for you but first, I want to share some news.  Today is my last post here with the amazing team at Verve.  I have had the most wonderful year with these girls and I have been so blessed to have this time as a Diva!  I have lots going on at home with the schedules of 2 busy kiddos and so I am just stepping back a little, to have some more time at home!  So lets get going with this month's challenge...

I have a super CAS card today, using one of my most favorite Verve sets, Stronger Love.  I added in a heart from the Heart Quartet die, and the covering that with some Glossy Accents.  Easy peasy!  

I want to give a quick shout out to Julee!  Thank you for everything over this past year!  I am so thankful to have had the chance to be on this great team!  Sending hugs to you all!

January Diva Dare ~ Day 11

"Smitten", January Diva Dare

Hello Verve lovelies and friends!  Welcome to the first Diva Dare of 2014!  This month's Dare is entitled "Smitten". Of course the first word that comes to mind with smitten is love, therefor what better symbol for love than some glorious hearts?

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten! 

Instead of going the traditional Valentine red/pink/white route (which I do love, by the way), I decided to combine my love of wintry objects with my hearts, i.e. snowflakes....

To make those crazy hearts, I cut out a bunch of Jotted Heart dies, Wavy Hearts and Heart Quartet dies. I then inked up the inside of a Snowflake embossing folder with some Cocoa ink and ran it through my Big Shot. The ink gives the designs a nice outlined appearance. I coupled those hearts with some wood veneer snowflakes....the big one is an ornament that I purchased at Michael's and the smaller ones I got from TJ Maxx...(you know all that cool stuff to look at while waiting on line?). The sentiment was pieced together from Verve's Merry Wishes set. All patterned papers are from Maja Design's Vintage Frost Basics collection. Lastly, a few strategic pearls finishes it off.

Hi everyone! It's Jen here and I'm back with day 10 of the January Diva Dare! I am so excited about this theme! I love making Valentine themed cards and when you combine that with gorgeous Verve stamps it's a match made in heaven!

I went a little die crazy with this one. :) I just LOVE these dies from the I Heart You die set. I have had them for a while and this is my first time getting to use them and I'm so excited about that! I'm sure you will see a lot more of them in the future! The heart in the middle is from the Wavy Hearts die set. 

My layout inspiration comes from this week's Mojo Monday sketch, Mojo328 and my designer papers are from Crate Paper's Love Notes.

January 2014 Diva Dare - Day 9

Hi friends!  Laurie S. here, and I'm so excited to be back posting here on the Verve Blog!  With a new baby in our house, there is definitely a lot of love...so I am especially excited about this month's theme!

I went with the love theme...and even included a heart!  Well, that wasn't too hard because I absolutely adore Verve's Jotted Heart die! 

The sentiment and heart image are both from the Chevron Love set.  I heat embossed the sentiment so that it would stand out a little more.  I added some cork embellishments, along with a heart rhinestone.  I just love how Verve's classy fonts can make any card special!

January Diva Dare - "Smitten"

Hello Verve fans, Christyne here bringing you some inspiration for the first Diva Dare of 2014 entitled "Smitten."

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten!

For my card, I decided to ink up the fabulous chevron hearts from the Chevron Love set.  I combined these with a sentiment from the same set, breaking up the stamp so it would work with this week's Viva la Verve sketch challenge (January 2014 Week 2).   This combined with the Flag it die set for the "To You" sentiment really gave this card a lot of detail!  I can't wait to give this to a special someone in just about a month!!

I also added a bunch of rhinestones and glitter to inspire any last entries for this month's Shimmer and Shine Inspiration Challenge. You still have time to enter, deadline: January 19th!

Hello Verve Daresters! Janelle here posting yesterday's Day 5 on the weekend. For some reason I thought there was one more day in the school week or apparently two Friday's this week. My apologies for leaving you all waiting for the post, but now you can relax on this weekend day and get ready to work your mojo for the dare.  Here we go.

I've just returned from my hometown where I was influenced this time by my brother's rench style. (That's pronounced "ranch" for us city folks.) It's only fitting then that my mojo would will me to pull together this style of card. 

I'm using Verve that is on sale right now like the Chevron Love Stamp Set (on sale!), ribbon from the Red White and Beautiful Ribbon Collection, and Jotted Heart Die. Just a couple more Verve goodies for my card, Award Banner Trim Die and Banner Bundle Die Set, before roping in the design. Hee-hee.

Yes, I did make a lasso for the heart. It just had to be done.

I die cut of whole kit and caboodle of hearts from the Wavy Hearts Die, stitched them up in sweet rows to create a frame for that fabulous sentiment from the Love's Flower stamp set.  While the Wavy Hearts Die is a fairly new die of mine, the Love's Flower stamp set is one of the first sets I ever purchased from Verve Stamps!  Not only is this set perfect for Valentine's Day card, but, it is truly great for all occasions...I find myself going for it over and over again all throughout the year!

January 2014 Diva Dare - Day 4

"Smitten", January Diva Dare

Hi Verve fans!  It's Charmaine and I get to share my "smitten" Diva Dare project with you today! 

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten! 

I just LOVE creating things for Valentine's Day.  Hearts make me happy. . .and so do the colors associated with Valentine's Day.  For my card, I used the Yours Truly Collection from Pebbles because my card also plays along with the current (all new!!) Viva la Verve Challenge and these colors worked for the color portion of the challenge.  :)

I used the Heart's Desire set from Verve for the "be mine" sentiment as well as the heart arrows.  I also used the I Heart U Die set for the letters and heart trailing down the left side of the card and the Jotted Heart Die for the big heart behind the "U".  "Be Mine" is stamped on a piece that was die cut using the Flag It Die Set.  The arrows are covered in Ruby Slipper Glitz Stickles for some fun sparkle.  So, now it's YOUR turn to get smitten!!

January 2014 Diva Dare - Day 3

"Smitten", January Diva Dare

Hi Verve friends!  I'm so excited to share my "Smitten" project with you today!  Inspiration is everywhere and my project was inspired by photo booths, sweethearts candies, and, of course, my darling husband!

What we're daring you to do this month is to make a card or project with a heart, whether it's for the one you love, a sweet Valentine or a lunch note for a child.  Let's get smitten! 

 I was thinking about Photo Booth apps and found a real easy, free one called Pici Booth.  Then I thought it would be fun to hold some large “Sweetheart” candies with sweet little sayings on them.  I made these extra large paper Sweethearts candies, pulled out my red feather boa, and had fun with my new app :)  I printed out the photo strip onto photo paper, cut it in half, then tucked them into a little vellum pocket.

To create my background, I took several Verve hearts from the No Matter What set and embossed them in gold.  Then I took 4 different gelatos and scribbled over the embossed hearts.  Last, I took my aqua pen and did a water wash to blend all the colours.  The DH can tuck these photos into his wallet or use them as bookmarks.  Either way, he'll know how I feel about him all year long!  A picture is worth a thousand words :)
