July Diva Dare ~ Day 10

Good morning Verve fans!!  Maureen here and I have the honour of tying things up after 10 days of seriously stunning projects by the Divas.

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Sentimental About Paper!  It's time to dig into all that gorgeous patterned paper you've been hoarding saving (we know you have some!!)!  Showcase all those amazing sentiment stamps (no images) to create a new and never before seen project!  Paired with pretty patterned paper, Verve's famous sentiments will take center stage!  While it is not necessary to useVerve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em!  To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

I was thrilled with this month's Dare...I have quite the delicious collection of patterned paper...in fact, I had put some out ready to make this card before my trip to the States...then I went to ARCHIVERS!  It was literally worse than being a baby in a candy store.  I told my friend Lynn that her job was to say to me every so often, "Do you really need that?"  I picked up 3 more pads of paper, one of which was this Basicgrey Out of Print (it was actually on my shopping list so yes, I needed it!).

I inked up this sweet sentiment from New Mercies as well as the butterfly image from Chicks Rule for my balsa wood butterfly. I stitched around all the panels to help frame everything. Have you made YOUR project yet?  You have a few more days to link it up!!  I double dog DARE you!! ;)  Here are the deets one last time...

July Diva Dare ~ Day 9

Hi there!  It's Jackie here with day 9 of the July Diva Dare.  Haven't all the girls projects been fantastic?  I tell you, I'm a lucky girl to be surrounded by such talent!

While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em!  To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

Here is how I answered the dare:

I used the gorgeous new set, New Mercies, combined with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #201. I stamped Psalm 130:5 in Dark Chocolate ink, cut it out with a Labels 16 Nestability and sponged it with some Bermuda Bay ink before removing it from the die. The papers I used are from the new Authentique Splendid Collection. It's hard to tell from the picture, but I ran the yellow gingham layer through my paper crimper. It adds a lot of texture. I made a seam binding "double" bow and finished it with a small tag cut from the same patterned paper pad finished with some Kraft twine and a small butterfly diecut. A couple more beautiful butterflies, some buttons tied with twine and machine stitching finish the card.

Here is a close up of the details and the dimension that I love......

July Diva Dare-Day 8

Good morning peeps, it is Teresa and it is my turn to show you my creation.  The divas sure know how to bring on the creativity, don't ya think?  Now for the deets.

While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em!  To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

I have tackled the dare with a square card, using the Words Cannot Express set and Laurie's  VLV sketch from last Friday.  You can get the details about the sketch and play along with us here.   The Words Cannot Express set is full of heartfelt ways to say thank you or show gratitude.  I have made a glittery heart using thin cardboard like a cereal box and then covered it with SU crystal effects, finishing it off with gorgeous glass glitter.....I luv the bling, you know....hehehehe.  I added a little distressing, stitching, and gorgeous SU cherry cobbler seam ribbon tied to my sentiment tag.  Have a great day and thank you so much for playing along with us...enjoy!

July Diva Dare - Day 7

Hi Everyone! It's Sankari here today, with Day 7 of our July Diva Dare. This month's release was full of amazing sentiments - so we wanted to highlight that for the July Diva Dare:

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Sentimental About Paper!  It's time to dig into all that gorgeous patterned paper you've been hoarding saving (we know you have some!!)!  Showcase all those amazing sentiment stamps (no images) to create a new and never before seen project!  Paired with pretty patterned paper, Verve's famous sentiments will take center stage!  While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em!  To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

The sentiments that Julee has created are perfect for every single occasion - or even where there is no occasion - but you want to make a "just because card". I love all the phrases in the Small Phrases stamp set and combined two of the sentiments to create this one welcome home baby card for my friend's son:
"Sweet Baby Boy, You Are Loved":

I used the fun papers from the My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup Collection (Boys) and used the star cut outs to decorate this horizontal long card. Each star was tied to the top with some Baker's Twine and then I stamped both sentiments onto the ticket cut out that popped up on the side with some hearts for accents. I love that these stamps are so flexible together and it was so easy to line up and stamp the second sentiment because it is acrylic and you can easily see where you are stamping! This was such a fun card to make and I can't wait to combine more of these Small Phrases together!

July Diva Dare ~ Day 6

Tosh here with day 6 of our Diva Dare. Have you all enjoyed seeing the Diva's interpretation of this month's theme? I'm never disappointed by the creativity and inspiration these girls serve up each time they make a card or project.

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme -
Sentimental About Paper! It's time to dig into all that gorgeous patterned paper you've been hoarding saving (we know you have some!!)! Showcase all those amazing sentiment stamps (no images) to create a new and never before seen project! Paired with the pretty patterned paper (Peter Piper picked a pack of pretty patterned paper LOL!), Verve's famous sentiments will take center stage! While it is not necessary to use Verve stamps to enter, we would love to see them if you've got 'em! To sweeten up the challenge even more, stay tuned to learn how you could win some brand new Verve!

Now, for my card. I LOVE decorative paper. And I adore Julee's sentiments. So putting these two together just seems natural to me. I used some sentiments, from one of the sets in the most recent Verve release, called Small Phrases.

It's my 22nd Anniversary in a couple of weeks, so I made this card for my husband. I know, it's a bit frou-frou for a guy, but I figured I included black on the card...right? And love ought to be warm and fuzzy like a felt heart, full of sparkle like the glitter, layers like the paper, and all woven together like the stitches. So, do I sound corny now? lol

I thought these two sentiment portions, from Small Phrases, fit perfectly for what I wanted to say: Love always, with all my heart. I think the fonts are just super charming and fit the style and feel I wanted to achieve in today's card.

I diecut the heart out of one of the Fancy Tags 3 Spellbinder dies, and backed it with a piece of felt. I also inked up the entire diecut with Versamark, and Embossed it with Irridescent Ice ep by Stampin' UP!.

The medallion in the bow center was made with Viva Decor gel and an antique button silicone mold, and the dp is all "It's the little things" by Fancy Pants. Including the cute "ace" card.

July Diva Dare - Day 5

It's Amy here today, with Day 5 of our July Diva Dare.

But first, here's how I answered the dare:

I used some playful Webster's Pages patterns (from Yacht Club) to create a nostalgic summer scene. I just adore the sweet children pulling their wagons! I added a second and third pattern along the bottom, along with  some twine and a scalloped border. The clouds along the top are die-cut with additional Webster's Pages patterns. I stamped the sentiment, notched the end, and wrapped it around a lollipop stick. I love the large font size of the Life is Good Plain Jane -- it really holds its own on this sentiment-only card!

July Diva Dare - Day 4

Hello Verve fans...Andrea here with today's Diva Dare project! Before I show you my card, I'll let Laurie's words advise you on some of the in's and out's of this month's challenge:

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

I am ALL about sentiments...I just love how words can reinforce the theme of a card in such a beautiful way. And what I LOVE about Verve stamps is the beauty of the words as well as the fonts. I tend to make very flowery, girly cards and these sets are just perfect for my style. Here is my very flowery, very girly Diva Dare card:

I used the New Mercies set, stamped onto a piece of patterned paper cut with a Labels One Nestability. The inner panel and outer frames are all hand stitched and distressed.  Before sewing, I paper pierce the perimeter so that the paper doesn't bend while I'm stitching. I also double the thread so that it looks a little thicker and more pronounced. I usually don't have much luck with mixing different lines of paper, but I happened to strike it rich with this combination of Daisy D's, DCWV and K & Co.

July Diva Dare - Day 3

Good morning!  It's Charmaine bringing you Day 3 of the July Diva Dare!  This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - Sentimental About Paper!

I LOVE using just a Verve sentiment on a card. . .especially with an embossing folder!  It really lets those wonderful Verve sentiments take center stage!  My answer to this month's dare did not use an embossing folder, though.  I decided to go with patterned paper.  I used the Uncommon Collection from Authentique paired with a sentiment from the New Mercies set.  I also used the Flutterby Die with black cardstock along with some ribbon and pearls.  The sentiment panel is die cut with the Wonky Rectangles Nestabilities.

July 2011 Diva Dare - Day 2

TGIM! Oh wait...something's off about that acronym. Oh yeah, it's Monday so it makes no sense, haha! Well, nothing will make your Monday happy and cheery like jumping into your stamp room and cranking out a card for our newest Diva Dare!

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

I decided to go with straight cardstock and stamps for my card today! All you REALLY need is a versatile stamp set and some cardstock to create beautiful, heart-felt cards. I pulled out the newly released "Small Phrases". This set really has a sentiment for anything you can imagine, you definitely NEED it in your stamp room;) I decided to pull out my Stampin' Up! butterfly dies for my Big Shot and then stamped and embossed a text stamp from "Text Objects." I layered another butterfly on top, cut some butterflies from tulle, and then stuck little pearls on the butterflies. The sentiment was stamped on labels cut using the "Charming Oval" dies.

July Diva Dare - Day 1

Hello Verve fans!!  Laurie here, and I am delighted to be kicking off the July Diva Dare!

For those of you that are new to this challenge, here is how it works...following each release, we will post a theme that we dare you with, and you'll have two weeks to complete the challenge.  During those two weeks, the release team will post their creations and tell you how they answered the dare!

This is how I answered the dare!  I finally cut into some patterned paper (from Imaginisce) that I've had in my stash for almost a year!!  ((blush))  Pairing the patterned paper with the newly released Small Phrases set, I created a fun birthday card.  Mimicking the circles in the patterned paper, I created two sentiment circles and then added a third at the bottom to resemble a banner.
