June 2015 Post Release Spotlight Hop Day 6

Welcome back to  the 6th and final day of Verve's June 2015 Spotlight Hops!  It's been a whirlwind of fun this week, sharing our new release with you!  Thanks so much for hopping along with us.  Everything is available and on sale in the Verve Store, so why not head on over an do a little shopping?  :)

Well, being a little bit caught up in the release, I realized right before I sat down to make a card for this post that I hadn't made a Father's Day card for my Dad yet.  We're celebrating this afternoon since Mark's Dad's birthday is on Father's Day. So, needless to say, I needed a VERY last minute Father's Day card!

So I pulled out the Deco Borders and Sparkly Dreams sets and whipped up a quick little something.  I love how the shorter borders in Deco Borders look across the tag from the Flourished Tag Die Set, so I cut a tag from lost lagoon and then stamped the sconce border across the top of the tag.  Next I stamped the Father's Day sentiment from Sparkly Dreams in the center and sponged the tag with lost lagoon ink.

For the old olive panel, I alternated the diamond print border in old olive and mossy meadow ink, then sponged around in old olive ink.  The background is an old QuicKutz embossing folder I found in my stash that I lightly sponged with crumb cake and vintage photo ink.  Layered it all together and I was done, lickety split!

June 2015 New Release Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to Day TWO of Verve's June 2015 Spotlight Hops!  Wasn't yesterday's hop just fabulous? For my card today, I paired one of the border stamps from Deco Borders with the previous released Strong Anchor set to make a beachcomber style Father's Day card.  I stamped the border twice in night of navy, then twice in pacific point and finally twice in marina mist and then sponged over them with the coordinating color of Stampin' Pastels.  I used a little glue and a heat gun to splatter some shabby white embossing enamel at the bottom of the panel to look like a big splash of sand and surf.

I braided a length of rope trim to adhere under the sentiment, then stamped the rope circle from Strong Anchor in cherry cobbler and the father's day wishes from the same set in Pacific Point.  This is cut out with spellbinders and matted with white.  Then I distressed the edges and was finished!

Today's spotlight is shining on the Deco Borders set illustrated by Chaitali Narla. She had another BIG release last week with the birth of a new baby girl, so was unable to hop along with us today.  It's been great fun working with her (she's the NICEST person on the planet!)  and having her illustrate for Verve this past year.  But sadly this is her last release with Verve.  We wish her much success in motherhood and in all of her future creative endeavors! Thanks so much Chaitali!

Deco Borders is a 4" x 8" set of  7 clear stamps and will retail for $18.
