Happy birthday to you!!

Today is my niece Keely's 8th birthday!  Maya and I just got home a little while ago from a scrappy sleepover birthday party!!  Tons of fun but not a lot of sleep!

It's hard to believe Keels is eight.  She is a fabulous, funny, oh so random and "partially perfect" girl!!  We love her so much!!

Happy birthday Keel Keels!!!!

Here is the two of us yesterday.....

And here is her card.  I used Blobby Celebrates from Pink Cat Studio and a sentiment from Stampin Up!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

So, I don't really buy into the whole Valentine's Day thing. Never have I guess. I do think though that it is fun for kids. Maya and I worked hard this week to get her cards done for her friends at school. I stamped these super cute images from a H&M Stamps set that Kim Crawford sent to me awhile ago. Maya coloured them in all by herself and was very proud to make them all rainbow!!

A friend from work LOVES Valentine's Day and asked me to make a card for her boyfriend. These are the 2 cards I came up with and she couldn't choose and ended up taking both. The first one uses a Lily & Billy image from Pink Cat Studio and the second one uses stamps from a Close to my Heart set.

An on a completely unrelated and unscrappy note, I just wanted to share that I got a haircut and it is a big change for me! I have been feeling for a while that the long hair needed to go and it sure did!!
Check out the before shot.....
And here it is now....It's a drastic change but I am really liking it. And, the best part is that my hair will make a wig for someone very deserving!! That is a good feeling!!

Just For You

Here is a card I whipped up tonight. I am participating in a Happy Mail Mingle over at Turtle Soup. Who wouldn't want a little something good mixed in with all of the bills, especially at this time of year?!?!

Here is the card I made for my partner. I hope she likes it!! I used stamps from Pink Cat Studio (Lily & Tweet).

Today is also my birthday!! It's been a low-key day. My co-workers and students did surprise me with a Dairy Queen ice cream cake! My favourite. Yum!! Birthdays are not such a big deal anymore. I guess that is another one of the drawbacks of getting older. Oh, and being broke doesn't help either. Hubby and I are saving our money to do a little Christmas for Maya. Thanks to those who sent me wishes. You helped make me feel special today! xx

Some personal reflections and cards by Maya!!

This scrapbooking/cardmaking hobby of mine has brought a lot of good into my life.
First is the simple joy I get from creating something. I am not a terribly artistic person (I can barely draw stick people) but I love seeing a project come together knowing that I made it!
It's a good feeling!
Second is the great many friends I have made through this hobby. Some are friends I actually get to see and have fun with and visit with and are often connected to Scrapping Turtle. There is a reason that is my happy place!! But many of the people I have come to know as friends are people I have never met. We check out each others' blogs and we share emails. For some we live on opposite sides of the world but still I feel blessed to call each and every person (both near and far) my friend. Awesome people connected to this 'little' world of ours!!

Last and probably best of all is that this hobby is something I share with my baby girl!! Now, I have to be completely honest and admit that there have been moments when her need to scrap right along with me has been a pain in the butt! But for the most part I love that she shares it with me. She loves to craft and create and she loves to make cards!! Just randomly she will ask to make a card to send to someone or sweet girl that she is, if I say someone is not feeling well she will ask to send a card. I love her and love sharing this with her!!
And sometimes, when I am really lucky these things get all mixed up together! That is what today's post is about. To share a few cards my girl made for some very special friends!
This first card using Riley and his Sock Monkey from Hanna Stamps is going to Kristi who was sweet enough to send this stamp to my baby girl to play with. My girl loves her moose!!

This second card (using Lily at the Beach stamps from Pink Cat Studio) is heading out to Lillian who was so kind to send a card and some stickers for my girl! So sweet of you!!

This final card (using a Magnolia image) is making its way to Jacque who was so awesome to send Maya a box of goodies (colouring books, crayons, storybooks) and a gorgeous card that is now being proudly displayed in her room!!

Thank you so much to each of you ladies for thinking of my girl. She was very happy and proud to make these cards for each of you and did so with very little help from her Momma.

Sending you some Sunshine

The challenge this week over at Turtle Soup was to create a card using at least 3 colours; 3 pieces of pattern paper; 3 pieces of ribbon; 3 embellies and a sentiment with at least 3 letters in it. Here is what I came up with....

This card uses another one of the super cute stamps from the Lily at the Beach set from Pink Cat Studio. Love Lily - she's such a cutie!!

Edited to add - I know there are so many people out there who use the Martha Stewart punches. Have you never had issues with them?? So far I have bought 2 of them and 2 of them have had to go back to the store due to effectiveness issues. No more Martha Stewart for me. I think I will stick with Fiskars from now on. SOOO aggravating!!

Happy Birthday Rissa Roo!! We love you!!

And here is the card I made for her. Love these super cute Lily images from Pink Cat Studio. This one comes from the Lily at the Beach set! Seriously if you don't have any of these stamps you really must go check them out. They are killing me with their cuteness!!

For Ethan

Pink Cat Studio is releasing these new digital stamps today to raise money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation in honour of Ethan Wieman. Little Ethan passed away on July 12th from Neuroblastoma Cancer. Ethan was a true cowboy, loved horses, balloons and knock knock jokes. By purchasing these digital images, you will help brighten the day of a sick child as the money that is raised, will go toward making one of their dreams come true. You can follow this link to Pink Cat Studio to contribute to this worthy cause in Ethan's memory and to read about this remarkable little boy.

**Picture & information taken from Vicki's blog. Check it out for all of the details.**
