Love Paint Chip

Hello All,

Happy February everyone!! A new month must mean a new challenge at House of Cards, and as most of you know Valentine's Day is right around the corner! Here at the House of Cards, it is all about love. Here is my inspiration card for today, enjoy!

Lots of hearts for this Valentine's Day season.

I decided to add a window to the card and stamp a little heart.
It adds a bit of dimension and interest to this CAS card. 

I wanted to go with the paint chip theme as shown in the inspiration photo.
A couple of weeks before I bought a paper pad at Michaels full of paint chip colors but on cardstock.
Genius is all I have to say!

CAS Ornaments

Hello Friends!

For today I will be playing along with Merry Monday, CAS on Sunday and CAS Colours and Sketches. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A beautiful die cut from Memory Box was found at my local craft outlet store.
I found it suited for the sketch and color challenges. 

A simple sentiment is what keeps this card CAS. I really like the white-on-white
of the die cut and just a pinch of color makes this card pop!

Below: You will find details of the large ornament sparkling in the light.
The inlay technique looks fantastic.

I promise the dark sentiment, dots, and ornament are dark blue. This is a hard color to capture on my phone.

Pastels Color & Medium

Hello Friends,

I am so happy announce that today I am the guest designer for CAS on Sunday! What a joy and a honor to be joining them here today. 

Their theme this week is all about PASTELS. 

I was so inspired by their theme that I made not one, but two cards for this challenge. Enjoy!

The boat is not hardlined but made to be mystical; I guess you could say spiritual.
The boat was created using stencils from Martha Stewart call Nautical Study and masking fluid.

When the masking fluid was dry I started my watercolor wash.
I tried to make sure the edges were blurry with no distinct line.

I removed the masking fluid when the watercolor was dry.
Then stamped the sentiment using two separate sets.

I wasn't sure if the theme of pastel was meant for color or medium. So I decided to use both thus my second card. Enjoy!

SO...

This card was created using the medium pastels.

The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality and welcome.
So I thought it would be fitting to use this sentiment.

I used a pineapple stencil from Dreamweavers and a
stipple brush to quite literally pound and brush the color on the paper.
The minimal color and white space surrounding the image makes it very CAS indeed.

I think what I like most is the way the leaves of the pineapple kind of
fade away but still keeping its shape. Fun surprise!
Pastels come in a variety of textures. Mine was very chalky and messy.
I decided to seal the pastels to avoid anymore smudging.

Welcome Back

Hello Readers,

For today I am playing along with CAS on Sunday. This card came out a bit unexpectedly but I really enjoy how it turned out. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Back to school is right around the corner.
I thought this card would be perfect for my daughter's teacher!

I really like this shot because you see the 'glass' in the frames.
I thought the letters appeared larger in the lense.
Is it me or am I just seeing things?

The pencil image was stamped then cut in half. I took each end of the pencil and tucked it under the circle. It makes the pencil apprear longer and matches with the sketch challenge quite nicely.
Again you can see the reflection of the 'glass' in the frames.

I know most of you have been through this, but to create this CAS card I had what seems to be all my supplies out trying different techniques, stamping, die cutting! In the end, I managed to settle on this design and I really like how it turned out! Now the real fun begins, cleaning everything up. I need a magic cleaning wand but can't seem to find anyone who sells them!

Acrylic Flower

Hello Everyone,

For today I am playing along with multiple challenges with one card. I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches, Seize the Birthday, CAS on Sunday and Color Throwdown. Here is my design for today, enjoy.

A simple ombre line balances the design of the card.
Stenciled the flowers using acrylic paint to go over the ombre black panel

The black diagonal panel was masked off and then sponged
to create an ombre effect.

Added just a bit of dimension by popping up the 'happy' sentiment.

CAS on Sunday: Challenge #80- flowers

Today the sun is out and all is bright showing signs that Spring is in the air. Which is good because this card is loaded with color and yet, I believe, still has that CAS feel.. Acrylic paint was used for stenciling because I couldn't think of any other medium that would cover black. Nevertheless, I think it was a good choice for the black accent because it allows the color from the flower to pop! 

Well that should do it for me.. I do hope you enjoyed your visit and want to thank all of you who have commented on my previous posts.. It lets me know I may be on the right track.. Now I must be off to clean my craft table. It looks like a bomb went off..
