Looking at You

 Hello Everyone,

I hope this post finds everyone healthy and safe. Today I would like to play along with a few challenges- Addicted to CAS, Double D, Inspired By... and Stamping Sensations.  Here is my card for today, enjoy!

One thing owls are very good at is staring and seems pretty spooky at times.

The card started off the same color that's surrounding the owl, a dark gray. I stamped the owl and masked him off and started sponging black all around the mask. Finally, I added some white ink around the masking to provide an aura around the owl.

The eyes is what captivated me the moment I purchased the stamp. I simply added some white Prisma color pencil to its eyes for a glowing effect.

Challenges Entered:
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #208- Spooky
Double D Challenges: Owls and/or Pumpkins

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Autumnal Leaves

Hello All,

I am playing along with Retro Rubber
and Addicted to CAS Card Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A simple one-layer card features a tree at its best, Autumn.

The tree's leaves were stamped using Red Barn, Honey Mustard, and Forest Moss Oxide Inks.

The trunk of this tree was sloppily colored using dark, medium, and light warm grays This allows the kraft paper to show through and offer other color striations of a birch tree.

Challenges Entered:
I have had this I'm my stash for at least 1 year.

I choose: Thanks/Foliage/Sponging

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Winter Birthday

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch, Challenge Up your Life, Addicted to CAS, and The Paper Players. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

One layer winter birthday card is for my daughter's fifteenth birthday! Wow, did time fly! She is one that caps off all of the birthdays in my husband's family. I am not kidding! My husbands father, mother, sister, my husband and my son all have birthdays around December! My daughter is the last of the bunch. The next birthday is mine, in August.

The snow 'wind' was done by mounting the stamp in the MISTI then stamped the first image. Lastly, I  flipped the cardstock and stamped it again. I think it gives a nice balance.

Stamped the snowflakes on white cardstock then heat embossed in white.
Sponged Iced Spruce, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans Oxide Inks over the base allowing the snowflakes to resist the ink.

Challenges Entered:

CAS(E) this Sketch: CTS #404
Challenge Up your Life: Challenge #131- Snowflakes
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #189- Snow

Butterfly

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Addicted to CAS, and AAA Cards. Their theme is one layer with a photo inspiration twist. Love it... But for all CAS cards, I do find them well... Challenging. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

One layer card utilizing the corner of the space, leaving the rest untouched and white.
The flowers were stamped using a light yellow color. I then added dimension by shading the flowers.
The butterfly was simply stamped in black dye ink then colored using Copic markers. The hello was stamped using the same ink.
I love these flowers! It looks like watercolor but it was all done using Copic and other alcohol markers. The background was done by blending earth-like colors and using a bit of stipple for dimension.

Lovely Lilacs

Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with Addicted to CAS, AAA Cards, and Stamping Sensations card challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!!

I found a technique on Pinterest, of course, on how to make lilacs using q-tips. I know it is an old method but I have never heard of it and was intrigued. I stamped some leaves from a retired SU set and got to work using q-tips to create some lilacs. It is probably self-explanatory but all I did was dip a q-tip in paint and dabbed it on the cardstock. Easy peasy!
I used exactly one-third of the card base. I was unsure by just eyeballing it so I took to a ruler and measured it out.

Geek is Chic

Hello Everyone,

I have the pleasure to be a guest designer at Addicted to CAS. What a joy to work with such talent. Their theme this coming fortnight is 'style'! Without further ado here is my card today, enjoy!

A one layer card that says all that Bill Gates and Elan Musk wanted to hear in High School that geek is chic! The glasses with tape, the plaid shirt with suspenders all scream geek. I decided the geekish elements needed to be anchored amongst all the white space by stamping a ledger grid in Wild Hare by ColorBox.

Challenge #168
"Style"
 ____________________

There is a bit of unintended dimension to this card. The 'tape' between the glasses was a last-minute addition. I used a white paint pen to add the 'tape' which left behind some bumpy texture from the pen. In real life, it looks lifelike with all its beautiful geekish bumpiness.

I have said it once and I'll say it again; CAS is a very controlled thought out art form. Keeping it simple is not exactly an easy thing to achieve. This was one of the hardest challenges I have done to date. I went through at least eight to ten ideas on what to do and then eight to ten drafts on what it was going to look like. I asked my kids, husband, and friends what style meant to them. They all had different ideas, thanks but well.... no thanks.

To me, I wanted 'style' to look like smart, confident, or happy. What did that mean? Well, it was a journey but I finally go there with this design.

Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Also, I want to thank my hosts, Addicted to CAS for this gracious honor! Thank you all and I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Graphic Circles

Hello Everyone,

For today I am going to be playing with Addicted to CAS. It is always a challenge for me to do a one layer card but here we are with my best! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card was created using the masking technique. I got my inspiration from a delivery truck that passed by me while I was at a stoplight. Strange where the 'aha' moment materializes.
I die-cut a piece of scrap using the circles. Then sponged Distress Oxide ink over the circles creating the one layer while leaving lots of white.
While the mask was still in place I used a straight ruler and drew lines indicating a horizon line.
I like how the sentiment and how it spills into the other circle. The colors blended flawlessly. I have to say, this is one of my best one layer cards yet!

Black and White + one Color

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Color INKspiration, Mix It Up, and Addicted to CAS.  I think this black and white theme is going to my head! Here is my card today, enjoy!!

Yes, Readers, I made a card for a card game. In conjunction with my cousin's family, we are making a Bonanza board for my aunt. This will, of course, be presented when we give her the board.
The suit of cards die cut is for the Bonanza board but I thought it would also make for a fantastic card. The white border is an inlay to look like one layer. The glittery suits are made from well... glitter. Before you laugh this is a technique where your adhesive is face up. Place the glitter on top of the adhesive and burnish. It was told to me that the glitter would not fall off. Humph... I say... Well it worked! And I was amazed!!
The sentiment is the only dimensional element on the card. It consists of black metallic designer paper, two layers of white, and one layer of black. This sentiment couldn't be more fitting.
