Rock the 60's

Guitar cards! I love them. I have two guitarists in my life, my dear husband and the dear boss. This card was for my boss's birthday and I will be making a duplicate for the husband. The colors were researched, I was trying to find colors that signified the 60's, my husband's favorite era of music. These fun colors came up.

The 60's were "Mod Madness".

One Man Band

Today I am hosting the challenge at CAS on Friday. Th e challenge I chose is one that surrounds me every day in some form or fashion.

MUSIC

My husband loves music and plays the guitar, so I have a stash of music inspired stamps. My card today features a funny little set from Mama Elephant that  picked up at one of the big box stores. This card will be for my 34th anniversary.

These two little monsters remind me of a song  called "One Man Band" by Old Dominion.

You have 2 weeks to make some music at CAS on Friday! Come on out and support my challenge by joining in!

Falalalalalala......

It's official, Thanksgiving is done. The Christmas holiday season starts. Around here in Pennsylvania, the holiday season started very early this year. I noticed many folks have their lights and trees up already. I came home from a day with my girlfriend on Friday to see the husband already brought down all our decorations from the attic. The tree is soon to follow. This is a new reality in our Covid world. I think since people are staying home, they want to hunker down into decorated houses.

Don't forget you have one more week to play along at Inky Paws with our seasonal color challenge. Lime green, grass green, red and white.

Today's card features the following product from Newton's Nook, "Caroling Newton"the music stencil, and the frames and flag set. I used the music stencil to emboss the image.

Here is a video on how to emboss your stencils.

Time to get your holiday inks out and join us for this festive color challenge  at Inky Paws! You have one more week to play along at Inky Paws!  We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is  Friday, December 4, 2020 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Falala, falala

My favorite Christmas cards have critters in them. I love critters. Especially bears. My husband loves teddy bear cards. Probably because he is a big teddy himself! This card, I have made in two color schemes for the husband and my boss who both play the guitar.

This card is for the fun new challenge at Christmas 24. We want you to use critters on your card- or as the challenge says, animals.

My card today features this set from Simon Says Stamp and this set from Flora and Fauna

Birthday Hits

My guy is super into vinyl. We can spend whole afternoons at a local used record store- Shady Dog. Well, I actually hole up in the corner with a book, while my guy goes through record after record. I was so happy when the stamp companies started coming out with record stamps and dies. I immediately bought all of them up.

Today is a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz. Galz like records too ya know. I see lots of women buying vinyl at Shady Dog. The new challenge is:

BLACK AND BLING

My bling is a bit subtle, but it's there.

You have two weeks to play along at Cardz 4 Galz.  I hope you will play along and share your black and bling creation!

Monster rock

Happy May Day everyone!! Yay!! I think we can finally put winter behind us and enjoy spring and the summer to come. May means my anniversary to the big guy- 32 years this year! He loves music and I love green! So I had to put them together for an anniversary card.

That's why I was so happy the color this month at The Rainbow Card Challenge is green! The most beautiful color in the world.

I have a very cute little set of monsters called Rock Monster from Mama Elephant for Hampton Arts.

I grabbed a bunch of music related stamps and went to town.

I even stamped the inside of the card, something I rarely do. I am usually scrambling to stamp a sentiment at the last minute. hey that's a good question. How many of you plan the inside of your card when you are creating it? Or are you like me- last minute Nellie.

Now for this month's musical inspiration- Simon and Garfunkle's Leaves that are Green.

Remember- the beauty of the monochromatic card is you can easily switch up the colors. this card can easily be done in any color of the rainbow.

Join us at The Rainbow Card Challenge for this best color ever challenge of green!! You have the month of May to create a gorgeous green cards!!

Suddenly........

I think I love creating Valentine's almost as much as Christmas cards. I have come up with quite a few and it is still early.

Today's card was made in response to the challenge at Inkspirational. The word prompt is note. Yeah- I know I went the easy way out, but it served several purposes. I needed a Valentine card, I got to use a new Mama Elephant set- Love Quotes and use an old Penny Black set - Stuck on You. George, plays guitar so it seem so appropriate.

Hey- just a quick note- no pun intended, but how many of you know you can buy all kinds of stamping stuff at Amazon. I recently discovered this. If you look, you can get some good deals and often times stamps that have been retired or at a discount. Check it out.

Head over to Inkspirational to see how much more clever folks were than me. Happy Creating!

Wit or wit-out

Hi Everyone! What a cold and dark Saturday morning. It is just a taste of what is to come. But the positive spin is that cold mornings make you happy to be inside and hunkered down in my studio with some soft music and a cup of tea ready to create with soft fall colors. Oranges, rust, saffrons and browns.

This month at House of Cards we are challenge you to a fun sketch.

I had to go with  Thanksgiving theme, plus it gave me the opportunity to use my new "songbirds" set from Papertrey Ink. I love anything with birds on it, so naturally it was the first set I grabbed for this challenge.

Of course, because I have been so busy with school and work, I didn't get photograph till this morning, when it was kinda dark still. Sooooo we have two photos and as they say at Pat's- "one wit and one wit-out" light that is- not cheese! The top photo has the flash off. the one below has the flash on. Sometimes I like the flash, it reminds me of family photographs from years ago.

Please join us this month for the sketch challenge at House of Cards and check back in each week to see what each style has to offer starting with the CAS team on Monday.

Tweet Tweet big changes at Just Us Girls!

A little birdie told me that there are big changes going on at Just Us Girls. Th challenge line up is changing and I am soooo excited by the new challenges we are offering!! We have decided to go with a word and trend challenge instead of the sketch and technique challenge.

This week's challenge is the word bird by Maria! How trendy is that. And it is just in time for me to play with my new Dina Wakely scribbly birds. I think everything I have seen done with these adorable birds has been mixed media, not really my thing these days.

Naturally I made a card and even got to use my new koi watercolors that were so highly recommended by Kristina Werner

I hope you will join us at Just Us Girls for these exciting new challenges!

Dude- you rock!

Hey everyone! This week at Just us Girls, Sue V. is hosting a technique challenge. It is an oldie but goodie. The "kissing" technique. If you aren't familiar with the technique, check out this tutorial from Split Coast Stampers.

I played quite a bit with this technique and finally came up up with this card that I liked. The guitar dude displays the kissing technique. the watercolor background is from the watercolor color class going on now with Jennifer Maguire and Kristina Werner.

I hope you will take time this week to join us at Just Us Girls!
