The King Of Crazy Covers

GAH...I'm stuck on Celtic Thunder right now! Have you guessed?

I just realized yesterday, they did a cover of "She" which is one of my favorite covers done by Elvis Costello.

Damn you, Paul Byrom for making it sound so gorgeous...but not as gorgeous as EC's version...m'kay. I have to draw the line somewhere.

And then...you covered The Moody Blues' Nights In White Satin.

He does the song proud. Not nearly as tortured sounding as The Moody Blues, but still gorgeous.

This man can sing just about anything and make me go THUD

Best Beatle Cover Ever!

I've found that Elvis Costello is one of the few artists that can cover a song by The Beatles and do it admirably. The first cover I heard was You've Got To Hide Your Love Away.

More recently he covered Penny Lane at the White House when Paul McCartney was honored.

Have a listen.

Bloody brilliant, isn't it?

An Almost Perfect Cover Song

I'm feeling my age...I'm really taking a trip down the easy listening superhighway.

Right  now I'm tripping on Celtic Thunder.

I noticed the other day that they covered The Moody Blues' Nights In White Satin. So I had to have a listen...and its almost perfect....if the gorgeous man would just SING THE RIGHT LYRICS!!

All that aside...this version should make Justin Hayward proud. It is stunning.

A Strangely Refreshing Cover Song

I recently obtained a copy of the soundtrack for the new chick flick, Valentine's Day. I was really intrigued by some of the songs on the album. Some where very good and others were creepy.

I'm sorry, Amy Wine "O" house's cover of Cupid, hurts my ears. I'm a Motown purist and what she did to that song would have Sam Cooke rolling over in his grave and it would offend The Spinners too.

But lets not discuss the bad and ugly, let's talk about one really strangely awesome cover on the album. The Bird and The Bee covered the Herman's Hermits classic I'm Into Something Good.

I have a love and hate relationship with cover songs, as many of you know, but this one really made me smile. You can listen to it @ YouTube. I think Peter Noone would be suitably impressed.

Not quite Tubesday

Not quite Tubesday...

...okay, so I've been slacking off. As a peace offering, here is the most awesome video I've discovered this week. I can honestly say it's the best cover of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme played by a cello that I've ever heard.

See you next Tubesday!
