filled with wonder

I can hardly believe it's been three years since Edgar and I shared this happy announcement:

We could never have predicted all the joys these two little acorns were going to bring us.

We've been working overtime the past few weeks to prepare for the holiday season as we've taken on more jobs.  But as I sit and write today, I want to make sure that we do exactly as our cards suggest---and take time to fill our children's Christmas with wonder.  We wish you the same!

illustrated journaling

Last week I mentioned my desire to freeze time in sketches. As much as I want to do this, Edgar is much better at actually making it happen: drawing daily, without fail, in his journal. As a result he's created quite the record of this past year...something I'm sure the boys will treasure as they get older.

Here's is a tiny portion of the entries from the last few weeks...

a girl's gwotta do what a girl's gwotta do

Dearest Readers----

Reilly here.

Dad and mom are so busy with the twins these days, that they don't seem to 'have time' to post about me and my accomplishments. Gwuess I'll have to do it myself. You see, I'm famous. Well, more famous than usual.

I'm featured in the current issue of Uppercase Magazine. Yep, front and center. That's me...right here...page 67.

Uh-huh. I'll admit it's not my best angle. I mean the least mom could have done was show my gworgeous eye patch. [Not to gwossip or nothing, but you know that lots of gwirls pay top dollar to have markings like it!] At least she included my pawdicure.

Oh, and did you happen to notice the cutie on the cover? Who am I kidding? How could you miss him? Ay caramba! A man in a bow tie! [insert squeal] If only there were sophisticated hunks like this in my neighborhood.

Until next time. XOXO----

royal wedding at reilly's

royal wedding at reillys
Oh well...since Reilly was not able to see the Royal Wedding in person, she decided to have the girls over and have a Royal Wedding Party. She was very meticulous about all the arrangements and details of her party that morning, but it seems Ally Mae (our neighbor's dog) did not meet Reilly's dress code.

By the way, only 4 Royal Wedding Hat Prints left!

sensitivity training

buddy boy
For eight years The Beagle has been my most loyal companion. He follows me wherever I go, greets me every morning as though I'm an old friend he hasn't seen in years, and never, ever misses an opportunity to cuddle. Lately I've sensed that Buddy Boy, as well as Moppy Mop, are increasingly anxious and needy...as if my growing belly is a sign that an era, one of them ruling the roost, is coming to an end. I feel for them and hope I can make this transition as smooth as possible on the whole Cabrera family.

Any advice is appreciated. Also, any tips for keeping a very alert Jack Russell quiet during nap time?!?

thank you!

cabrera thank you
Thank you all so much for making me feel so welcome in this place you graciously visit. I believe the decision to join Suzanne's open sketchbook will certainly encourage me to be a more proactive blogger. I hope I don't get on anybody's toes or face! Once again, thank you for letting me in.

reilly uncovered: part one

Speaking of Thief #2, we've been doing some research into Reilly's ancestry lately as we work to develop her family tree (this is going to be good...trust me). We knew early on that she was part-mop (by the texture of her fur) and part-possum (by her teeth), but the latest finding was truly unexpected.

reilly deer ?!?

Reilly...part deer?!? How did we not see this coming? This certainly goes a long way to explain her jitteriness!

worshiping god foodo

Sadly, Pokey and Reilly don't seem to understand the fact that my pregnancy does NOT entitle them to eat more. Their cravings are constant...and follow me [and my meals] wherever I go!
the thieves
Please disregard my mismatched feet....they have nothing to do with the story :)

the dreaming duo

Pokey and Reilly are getting their teeth cleaned today. I knew this would make for an interesting entry in Edgar's illustrated agenda. He did not disappoint!

For clarification's sake, the dogs had to go under anesthesia in order for the vets to work in their mouth.

let there be light

let there be light
Thanks for checking in. I'm sorry for the lack of posts. Contrary to popular belief, I haven't lost the battle to Nutella; I'm just running a little low on energy...as is the rest of my household. I look forward to being back up [and drawing] soon.

on the move again

mini moving
I'll be taking a little break from blogging the next couple of weeks as we move to our new home and classes resume. Look for things to kick back into gear here following Labor Day. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! As always, thanks for visiting!
