getting it on paper

As you may have noticed, we're undergoing a transformation of sorts here.  Edgar and I are happily working to grow our business and have been working at creating a new brand, based our most important tool, our sketchbook.  Here's a snapshot of our work thus far.

Phase 1 : THIS IS TOO EASY...and indeed, it was

Phase 2 : LET'S GO BACK TO SQUARE ONE...a sketchbook

PHASE 3 : STICKING TO THE BASIC SHAPESaosb_branding_phase3

PHASE 4 : STILL TWEAKING

We had a quick deadline to meet with our new branding and fortunately, were able to get to a place we're happy with within a week of starting.  However, the process continues.  Still to go [at the moment]: letterhead, mailing labels, line sheets, updated website, packaging for new and existing work and lots of excitement.

lessons in efficiency

WOW. I never could have predicted how busy things would be! But as a friend of mine who also recently had twins said, "time flies when you're feeding every three hours!"

Because our 'free' time is limited, we're making the most it. It's amazing how many loads of laundry I can fold and dishes I can unload in just 5 minutes. Beyond the housework, we're also tackling some ongoing design projects, including prep work for the upcoming First Friday Indie Market. Not only will we be selling our prints at this event, but we were also responsible for designing the poster to promote it. Here's a look:

If you live in or around Greensboro, I hope you'll join us at the event. We'd love to catch up...between feedings of course :D!

community by design logo

A few days ago I doodled about some logo ideas for Community By Design, a non-profit organization I belong. As you may see we are looking at the idea of a postmark as we intend to mark our communities with the stamp of good design. Please take a look at it and let us hear your thoughts!

iarc logo

I have been lost lately, but I promise it has been for a good cause. One of the task that has kept me from updating my blog is that of designing a logo for the Department of Interior Architecture at UNCG. Each year, the UNCG's IIDA Campus Center encourages students to submit logos for their T-shirts and sweaters. I guess I got lucky this time!... they chose mine!
