Chimney Pipe Wreath

It's fun to highlight those funky and uniques projects out there that are very different and unique.  I think this wreath made almost entirely from items at the home improvement store is so neat.   It is catchy to the eye and interesting at which to look.   Besserina made this for her entry at So You Think Your Crafty.

Guest Blogger - Nickles and Dimes - Wrought Iron Headboard

Hey Guys! I am Ashton. I started my blog Nickles & Dimes to share all of my crafty creations with you! If you like them, post my button on your site.

I am super excited to be guest posting here at Someday Crafts. It is one of my favorite blogs. The cute ideas are endless. Take a look at my new headboard and let me know what you think. I am really hoping you love it as much as I do.

When I decided to move last year, I also I decided I wanted to redecorate my bedroom. I started the redecoration process by searching for a bed. My first stop was Anthropologie. As always, I fell in love with something way outside my price range. I emailed a picture of the bed to my mom. Thankfully, she was game for trying to recreate the beautiful headboard. This is my favorite project!

Supplies:
Decorative wrought iron piece
2 2X4's
3 add a leg kits
Spray paint
Epoxy

1. Find your wrought iron pieces. My mom and I started our search at estate sales, but weren't finding anything. We decided to change to antique/junk type stores. That is where we found the pieces I used. One piece wasn't large enough. I called a welder, he stopped by my house and welded the two pieces together in about 5 minutes. It wasn't very expensive either.

Notice all the stuff in the background? My parents and I just had what we so kindly call the "Great Debate" again. It is over why I hoard random objects in our garage and say they are for crafts. Have any of you ever had that conversation?

2. Cut your two 2X4's to the length you want your iron pieces (remember most hardware stores will cut the wood for you) and nail them together.

3. Hold the iron piece on top of your wood. Mark where the legs touch the wood. Drill a hole where you marked, large enough for the legs to fit.

Dad was kind enough to drill the holes for me.

My little brother Cody was a great help!

4. Fill the holes with epoxy and insert the iron piece into the wood.

We squirted out the epoxy and then used a popsicle stick to get the epoxy into the holes. You may want to wear gloves. Epoxy will not come off easily!

6. Once the epoxy is dry, spray paint the base of the head board. Also, spray paint the legs to match.

7. Next, attach your legs. This part was really simple I just bought the little kit (pictured below) and screwed them to the base. I measured the height of the bed frame and had the hardware store cut the legs to fit.

8. Then stand the head board up right and screw the bed frame into the base of the headboard.

9. Finally, reassemble your bed.

This is the final product. I am in LOVE!!

If you're feeling crafty, check out some of my other ideas. These are a few my favorites...

Hope you enjoy my blog Nickles & Dimes! Thanks for the guest posting opportunity.

THANKS, ASHTON! I'm loving the wrought iron headboard. What a fun idea to do with an old fence or gate! I've never thought about that before. And it really doesn't look that complicated! This post has got me thinking about other things to do with antique fencing!!!! Visit Nickles and Dimes to see more great ideas!

Boy's Bedrooms! (3)

If you've got boys, you've got to head over to Moore Minutes to check out her 3 boys bedrooms! They are awesome. My favorite part of the rooms is this corregated metal wall. Wow! Isn't that a statement and a focal point!!!! It would look cool in several different areas of a house! All three boys rooms are in different posts!

I don't know if I have the patience to create something so beautiful and detailed!!!! (BTW, This is a great blog with so many fun ideas.)

Recycled Car Jewelry

A while ago, I came across this cool shop, Jewelry by GK, that makes jewelry from car parts!!! The jewelry is uber funky! I love that it is recycled car parts and metal. That just makes it memorable!!! Here are a few pieces I like.
This recycled metal ring is super interesting. The shape and color are captivating!
.

Who would know that these trendy earrings were made from a car?

What a funky looking necklace! I wonder if I could make something like that! What kind of metal could I use?

If I ever get in a bad car accident, I am going to think of the car being turned into unique jewelry! That should make me feel so much better (Yeah, right!)

Guest Blogger - Alchemy Junk - Pottery Barn Roman Numeral Wall Decor

We at AlchemyJunk are completely addicted to decorating, and from this addiction this blog was created. If you answer YES to any of the following statements... we'll see you in the 12 step program ;) just kidding... who wants to stop this joyful madness?!
You know you're a Decoraholic:

When you go to someone elses house for a visit and you can't help but mentally redecorate for them.

When you go to a movie you cringe when they break that beautiful furniture in stunt scenes

When you get out of a movie your conversation goes something like this:
Hubby: "That part where that guy jumped out of a window into the nile river was so awesome!"
You: "Ya I know! I LOVED the drapes that were hanging in that window! I think they would look great in our guest room!

You consider that blockbust film that everyone is raving about "not so great" because you only got 1 good decorating idea.

You're hubby comes home with a boquet of decaying barnwood instead of flowers... and that's a good thing

When EVERYTHING has design potenial from an old metal trash can to rusted tirechains.

When everytime you go to see the doctor, it takes total restraint to NOT rearrange the waiting room furniture
for better traffic flow.

When you see the new shade of lipstick at the department store and you buy it only because it is the perfect accent color for your living room that you've been searching for for weeks.

Here's a tutorial for the Roman Numerals. Hop on over to our blog for the clock tutorial

ROMAN NUMERALS TUTORIAL:
Okay, I pour over the Pottery Barn catalog like I should do the classics and found this:

See the numbers?

See the drool!

Not for sale even. Not that I could ...ya know..... buy them. So I thunk and thunk til my head hurt (about 2 minutes max is all the thinkin I could take) and this is what I made:

with a lot of help from hubby.......

We bought a $2 piece of metal. Made templates from contact paper. Traced them on the metal and hubby cut them out with tin snips.

I had to grind the edges with a dremel tool. They aren't perfect but they are CHEAP!!!!

and then I spray painted with this:

We spent about $15 because it took 2 cans of paint. I think it was worth the "thinkin" headache!!!

Thanks a MILLION to Michelle @ Someday Crafts for giving us the opportunity to plop ourselves on her blog and guest post!!

Thanks for guest blogging you junkies!!! If you can't tell, Alchemy Junk is an awesome blog for decorating! The ideas they are are outrageously cool and different. Wouldn't you love anything you've seen in this post at your house? Absolutely. Go visit Alchemy Junk today and become a follower if you like what you see!
