DIY Faux Fireplace

I would LOVE to have a mantel to decorate! Right now, I just scatter some decorations along shelves and whatnot. Anyway, Simply Vintageous...by Suzan decided she needed another mantel, so she made one!. That's right, she just whipped up a faux fireplace/mantel. If I had the room, I would totally do this!

I love this mantle from The Kim Six Fix, but I especially love this piece of lighted pallet art that she created. Isn't is just gorgeous? Like something you would find in a catalog - except she has a tutorial so you can create your own!

Faux Mantel Cabinet

I see so many amazing mantels out there in blogland and I always wish I had one to decorate. Unfortunately, no fireplace means no mantel. But The Happy Housie didn't let that stop her. She used a cabinet to create some mantel space!

Who thinks to make an interchangeable mantel for their fireplace?   Thrifty and Chic does.  She got tired of her mantel and built a wood mantel to go over the top.   When she gets tired of that, she can take it off!  It's not permanent!  Great idea!!!

Decorating With Barbed Wire

Have you ever thought of using barbed wire to decorate?  Never in a million years would it have crossed my mind, but Funky Junk Interiors has used it several times and I think it looks awesome!  I would love to pull off the funky junk look, but I'm not sure how I would do it with young, mischievous kids that get into everything!  She has several picture of barbed wire decorating in this post.

Mantle Made From A Cabinet

When Crafty, Scrappy, Happy moved into her house, it had a fireplace, but no mantle. She took an old cabinet and created a beautiful mantle!!! Looking at this photo, would you have guessed that? Not me! This is also a great idea for people who don't have a fireplace, but want the look of one. (You've got to check out some of the other projects in this blog.
