Johnny and I went to see Billy Elliot, the Musical, last Tuesday night. I absolutely loved it; Johnny grumbled about the British accents being hard for him to understand. I had no trouble understanding. However, Johnny did appreciate the music, singers, and dancers, so I give this a thumbs up!

Four boys rotate in the role of Billy. Note the blue shirt and blue pants on this star. We saw Kylend Hetherington, 13 years old, from Auburn, Michigan. What a talented young man! He sang, he acted, and oh boy, did he dance! He got a standing ovation and gave the audience an encore. What a night!

Based on the 2000 British film of the same name (pictured below, starring Jamie Bell as Billy Elliot) the show tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of becoming a ballet dancer against his father's wishes. Both the play and the film are set in the North East England during the 1984/85 coalminers' strike.

Look at this vertical leap and notice the lovely blue shirt.

There's plenty of blue in this advertisement for the movie.

If you ever get the chance to see either the movie or the play, go for it!

Cindy at Whimsical Musings sent me some Blogger Love with this beautiful blue tag, made especially for Valentine's Day! Thank you, Cindy! Just look at all of the shades of turquoise blue!

Happy Blue Monday!

Blue Monday - DWTS

It's Blue Monday! I'm so glad you came.

Please place the blue bird logo at the top of your post so that others easily find your Blue Monday post. Remember to place the link for Blue Monday; much as I hate to, I will DELETE those who do not follow this simple rule.

For all of the instructions, just click here for BLUE MONDAY INSTRUCTIONS.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) is one of my favorite television programs. I "watch" it every Monday night by telephone with my friend, Belle Jo, who lives in Mississippi. We chat during the commercials!
Tonight is the final episode of DWTS, and it will be something worth watching! The remaining three couples are so talented that anyone of them could win the coveted, giant trophy ball. I have noticed that my favorite color blue shows up in their costumes. For today's Blue Monday, I'm presenting some pretty blue costumes, worn by the three finalists.
Here's Derek Hough and Nicole Scherzinger during week 3. Look at those high leaps! They are the favorites to win. Nicole was a dancer before DWTS, so she has an edge.
One of the judges, Bruno Tonioli, said that Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were a "symphony in blue." Erin has steadily improved each week.
Anna Trebunskaya and Evan Lysacek show beautiful extensions with their long arms and legs. Isn't her blue gown just lovely? Evan already knows a good bit about the art of movement as he won a gold medal for ice skating.
Do you watch DWTS? Who do you think will win?
Happy Blue Monday!
Pink Saturday - Dancing with the Stars
Beverly at How Sweet the Sound hosts Pink Saturday. Stop by her place to see the many other pink items people are sharing.
I love watching Dancing with the Stars. It's on every Monday and Tuesday nights. I have a close friend who lives in Jackson, Mississippi, and I telephone her on those nights so that we can watch the show together. We visit during the commercials, and mute our telephones when the show comes back on. Our husbands actually put up with this!
The costumes are amazing, and I've noticed that pink is often worn. Of course, that made me think of Pink Saturday.
From an earlier episodes this season:
Maurice Greene and Cheryl Burke. She's my favorite professional dancer. She's won the trophy in two of the past seasons!
The photo above is Inna Brayer and Ted McGinley--he left the show waaay too early, as far as I'm concerned.
Here are Kim Kardashian and Mark Ballas--she's been voted off.
Striking a pose is Tony Dovolani with Susan Lucci, a soap-opera star.
The following pictures are from this past week:
Lacey Schwimmer and Lance Bass have irritated one of the judges.
Rocco DiSpirito and Karina Smirnoff were spared this week because Misty Mae was injured and forced to leave the show.
Cloris Leachman, who at age 82 can do what I cannot! She's funny, and that talent is what's keeping her on the program. She cannot dance, but she can extend that leg, crack jokes, and bounce around, especially in low-cut dresses!
Here's Derek Hough and Brooke Burke--I think that she could go all the way.
Kym Johnson and Warren Sapp--this large football player can dance so gracefully. You have to be in awe. He might go all the way. (If you're keeping count, that's two who I think can win this thing.)
Reminders:
  1. I'm giving away three books. Look over at my sidebar.
  2. Remember Blue Monday is fast approaching. Come and play!
  3. Happy Pink Saturday!
