Nightshade pillows

Since I first saw Nightshade fabrics by Tula Pink, I knew I have to sew something with them. I ordered some in the Vapor Palette. Two fabrics I like in particular - Coven and Spider Blossom. I decided to sew some gothic/Halloween pillows (there will be more projects made with those fabrics soon). 

The only tricky thing is, that the portraits of Von Black sisters on Coven have oval frames and there is not much background fabric between them. It's difficult to cut out one portrait without destroying the frame of another (if you want to use just the portrait, not the yardage of fabric). But the portraits and the frames themselves are so cool, that I had to find the way to do it ;)

I prepared a block template in EQ7 with an oval center, matching the size of the portraits and sewn the ovals in (they are not appliqued), just like I'm sewing the circles (anybody interested in such templates?):

Kiedy po raz pierwszy zobaczylam nowa linie materialow od Tula Pink - Nightshade, od razu wiedzialam, ze bede musiala cos z nich uszyc. Zwlaszcza dwa materialy z tej serii mi sie podobaja - Coven (portrety dziewczyn w ramkach) i Spider Blossom (ten material w kwiaty z tylu poduszki). Materialy sa w trzech wersjach kolorystycznych. Ja wybralam linie Vapor (ciemny turkus). 

Jedyny minus materialu z portretami jest taki, ze sa one bardzo blisko siebie i trudno jest wyciac pojedynczy portret z ramka tak, zeby nie naciac nastepnego. Ale... dla chcacego nic trudnego ;) Jedynym sposobem bylo wyciecie owalu dookola ramki (elementy bloku zaprojektowalam w Electric Quilt, bo to duzo latwiejsze niz rysowanie recznie :) i wszycie go w panel poduszki (widac uzaleznilam sie od szycia po luku, haha):

The pillows are now listed in my DaWanda shop.

I covered the seam with a thin black lace (just to add a bit of a character to the front):

Back is buttoned. I bought great buttons (found them by accident on DaWanda) especially for those pillows. They fit perfectly with the style and the colour:

Tyl jest zapinanay na guziki, kupione specjalnie z mysla o tych poduszkach. Pasuja idealnie stylem i kolorem do calosci:

Cat on quilt

I'm already back from holidays. The weather was really nice and I have to admit that I missed the sewing machine a bit (but just a tiny bit). Now I have some small projects to finish and few posts to write... 

Today I jumped on Pets on Quilts 2012 linky at Lilly Pad Quilting and decided to join in. Those who visit my blog more often know that I have two maine coons - Xanthos (orange/white) and Wesley (black smoke):

Juz wrocilam z wakacji. Pogoda tym razem dopisala (za maszyna sie tez troszke stesknilam). Musze teraz dokonczyc jeden z projektow, ktory mi zostal sprzed wyjazdu i jeszcze napisac kilka postow, zeby sie wszystkimi nowinami podzielic :)

Cat PP pattern and pillow

I was thinking about Halloween for some time now. Wondering, what I would sew. I wanted a pillow, but didn't have an idea which would fit, so I decided to make a new PP pattern. 

When you think about Halloween what do you think about? Bats? Black cats? Ghosts?

I'm a cat lover so that's almost obvious that I think about cats, LOL.

Maine Coon shopping bag

I started this bag like ages ago. I was waiting for finishing it in the depths of my wardrobe. But it's time has come ;)

It's ready and I'm submitting it to the 'Cat' challange on Patchworkowa Gwiazda blog.

Sorry for the terrible photos, it's already late and dark, but today is the last day for submission, so I had to make some. Tomorrow I will replace them with better ones :)

The bag is lined, with 3 pockets inside, magnetic snap and the key leash. I will post photos of the inside tomorrow.

Showing off :) Mittens and a shawl

Today nothing new from me. I have lots of other things (unfortunately) to do than sewing, but I wanted to show you two things. Fist are mittens, which I got as a gift from one of the friends from my favourite sewing forum: Szyjemy Po Godzinach. Of course I wanted to do something in exchange. You remember my cake pincussion which I made some time ago? This one:

It was made in that purpose.

But... here are the mittens:

A second thing I wanted to show you is a handmade shawl which I bought two weeks ago. When I saw it on SzuflANNdia I knew I had to have it. Direct link to the shawl is HERE. I could not resist those beautiful colours ^.^ In reality it's even prettier than on the photos. How can you not fall in love?

Acorn mug rug - Autumn time

Well, this is my answer on the challange, which you can find here: Szufladowe wyzwanie # 9

Autumn is the topic... and as I am a huge fan of cup coasters and mug rugs, which other choice you think I had?

Cat show/Katzenausstellung at 11.09.2010 in Birkenau (A.K.M.R. eV)

Today something totally different. Fotos from our latest (and also last) cat show in Birkenau.
My both boys got their certificates and Wesley (the black smoke one) was nominated for Best in Show, but nothing more. The show was small and quiet and I have to say dissapointing in total. Not because we didn't win anything, but because of the politics, which even on such shows you can't avoid. That's why it was the last one. Next ones I will visit only as a guest.

For me, a cat show is always a good place to buy some cool new toys for cats (happens that they are cheaper than in a ordinary shop).
