I find it amusing that so many bloggers that I follow are talking about the summer ending and their plans for fall sewing. Please don't misunderstand, I am not criticizing and making fun of those bloggers. It's just that in my part of the world, we will be dealing with summer temps possibly into November (or later).
Back in the "old days" when I attended public school, the first day of school was always the day after Labor Day (September). None of the public schools at that time had air conditioning. We were doomed to sweat and stick to our desk seats for at least a month. By October, we often had cool mornings with the afternoons getting into the 80's or low 90's. I HATED that first month of school. I HATED sweating. I HATED sticking to my desk and the lunch room chairs. and I HATED being HOT. Open windows and fans only blew HOT air.
This year, we have been blessed with a rather mild summer. The temps have been running high 90's low 100's. So far, no sustained 110 degree days like last year. BUT we still have to get through the rest of August and September.
So, I won't be thinking of fall sewing for a while yet. AND, fall sewing will likely just mean sewing with darker colors of cottons, rayons and blends.
Regarding my sick pup that helped prompt the previous post "Phone Shorts," I'm happy to report that Miss Freckles is on the mend. After LOTS of tests at the Vet Specialist, and ruling out several things, she tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease. Both are tick borne. AND yes, she faithfully gets her flea/tick meds, but sometimes things just happen. She will be on antibiotics for 4 to 6 weeks, but she is feeling more like her old self every day. I am thankful for that.
I've been sewing PJs for the children's shelter. That easy sewing has helped me keep my sanity during this uneasy period with Freckles. I'm thankful for that, too.
