Crocheted Cowl

I gathered these:

and crocheted this:

I found the pattern here at the Caron Notebook.  These yarns were what I had on  hand and could lay hands on quickly (no hunting through the stash).  This pattern is not "twisted" BUT somehow I managed to get mine twisted, BUT I actually like it very much and am going to try to figure out what I did so I can do it again!  This one will go to DGD.

I only had a size Q hook (original pattern called for a size U) so I chained an additional 10 stitches than the pattern indicated.  It took me around 1.5 hours to complete - just as indicated on the website.  So quick; so cute!

(Two posts in one day - wow)

Does it?

I was grocery shopping at Walmart yesterday.  Ofcourse, I wasn't looking to buy any "clothes," but I saw a section of Christmas themed T's  displayed.  (that's how retailers do it, right?  put up a display that one can't resist, right??)

Anyhow, I threw a size XL into the basket for a remake.  This one (not quite finished yet) is tighter than I would like.  I used the Ottobre T pattern that fits well, BUT I forgot that I use this pattern with knits that have lycra.  This T fabric has no lycra.  So, I'll probably buy another one when I pass thru Walmart again (if they still have some) and have do overs.

I think it came out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Just finished another pair of pj pants for DGD, but not interesting enough to go to the trouble of a photo--just light blue fleece.

The funeral dress - finally a photo

Of the black dress, Silhouette #4000 (Swing Dress).  You can't really see the subtle shaping of the dress, but it's there.  Sorry it looks like my photographer is lying on the floor.  Was using a relatively low table as a "tripod."

And the funeral dress with the Silhouette #211 (Nina's Top).  Sorry about the blur, but you get the idea.

I've been playing with a mulsin of the Silhouette Sheath Dress.  Sorry I can't tell you the # right now as the pattern envelope is buried under part of the mess in the sewing room.  I think I have the fit about where I want it.  I've got the same pattern sewn in a muslin for Sis, but I haven't been able to get with her for the fitting/draping.  She has been losing some weight so she needs some new clothes that don't just "hang" on her.

In between, I've been working bits and pieces on the gray sweater I began knitting last winter.  Yes, it will be finished so that I can wear it this year.  (still no real rush as while it is cool today, it will be in the mid 80's this weekend)  Just about 6" left on the 2nd sleeve and the bottom ribbing of the sweater itself.  I'm trying to knit at least 1" each evening on the sleeve.  Some evenings I get a bit more done before the dogs decide I've spent enough time on it and begin vying for attention.

I have a couple of other sewing projects started--can't seem to hone in on just one right now.
