Mega City 6(mm)

Ok so after one to many comments that the Ground zero Games 6mm NAC troopers looked a little like Mega City judges I could no longer resist.
I just had to do Judge Dredd in 6mm ;-))

This thread will chronicle my efforts to bring "The Law" to both Junkertown and the neighbouring comunity of Cherryblossom Heights.

Here's what I've got so far.

So we have from left to right Judge Cassandra Anderson, Judge Dredd and Judge Giant and in the back Dredd on his Lawmaster bike.

I've since found two more of the bikes in my bits box so Anderson and Giant should get their rides too, after that I have a few ideas for some more vehicles but then things will probably be on hold until Microworld releases their new Microwasteland line, we'll see…

Oh and for those of you new to the blog and unfamiliar with both Junkertown or Cherryblossom Heights here's a few pictures of our intrepid hero's beat

YOU THERE!!! Senior citzen! Jay walking! Five years cryo-cell! Effective immediately! Please await pickup.

Thats it for now, stay tuned for more…

Ps: If any of you have a recomendation for rules that handle street chases well please leave a comment.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Space Hulk Nano Part Deux.

Just a quick post to share the Space Hulk ladders, blips and fire counters I made.

Group shot

Quick explanation.
Ladders are granny grating and those little spacer rings that come with my el cheapo tubes of superglue.
Blips are sewing pins pushed through a disk of magnetic paper and snipped off.
Fire markers are basically made completely out of hotglue using DmScotty's method.

And a little story for your enjoyment

Two troopers are sent out to investigate some ghostly blips on the scanners...

OH DROKK!!!  We've got bugs!!!

Nuke'm from beond the airlock, its the only way to be sure.

Well thats all I got for you for now.
Cheers,
Stroezie.

All Aboard!!!

Just a quick post to show off my new Angel Barracks Repulsorlift train

Now how cool is that!?!

When I ordered it Michael told me I was the first one to buy one, which actually surprised me since there were a lot of very positive comments when he first annouced he would be releasing a scifi train set.

I think the problem may very well be that people are waiting to see if more options come out before buying it ,while Michael is first waiting to see if it sells or not.

This is sad as there were a number of follow up options, like a passenger car, a freight car and maybe even an armor upgrade that now may never see the light of day as he can't afford to put more time/money into a product that does not sell. (although he has already built a trainstation)

So if you are on the fence about buying this thing, DO IT!

I want my freight car dang'nabbit!
How else am I going to get to play any Firefly style trainrobberies ;-)

Cherry Blossom Heights (and less than savoury neighbours)

I've started to work on my 6mm city board again, thought I'd show you what I've got so far to keep myself motivated.( I've actually posted most of this on various forums but never all in one place)
It's meant mostly for solo, story driven skirmish games.

Everything is magnetised so I can easily pick it up and put it aside and maybe continue the game later. The buildings are from Brigade models and the shanties are from Angel Barracks exellent Junker buildings range.

The buildings on the left are from Ral Partha Europe the rest was scratch build.

The farm with watertower and the first field, the crops are magnetised and can be removed individually, they still need some finishing touches;

Some more shots of Cherry blossom heights.

I've since finished some more Angel Barracks Stone Haven buildings for the shanty town and some scratchbuild more industrial pieces but I havn't had time to take any pictures of them yet.

The next addition will be a more of an uptown, financial district.

You know the place where the big bucks are.

I made a quick test piece, tell me what you think, will it work with the rest of the city, anything you feel I would need to add.......

Its made of Mega Blocks (knockoff Duplo), spray painted with black electrical tape for the windows and a piece of sandpaper for the greenroof.

Just to show you what you can make for a little less than 8 euro's worth of Mega Blocks

Now I just have to cut off the round nubs on top, sand them down a little, glue and spray paint them and then I can start adding greeblies....

.....Why do I keep doing this to myself ??? ???

BTW. does anybody know where I can get some printable billboards or signage? I'd love to add some to my city but my graphic skills on a computer = 0

Motivational Image dump,a glimpse of things to come.

Ok, so I've been a bit busy with a lot of real life boring stuff these last few months and now that I've finally got a bit more spare time I find I'm having trouble getting started again.
So, in an attempt to get myself motivated, I've decided to do a bit of an image dump of the things I did manage to get done and share some of the plans I have for them with you all.

Some power armor by Brigade Models

 and GZG

I got these to use with a space station terrain piece I plan on building. The idea is that they will be fighting in micro gravity on the hull of the space station.

A bunch of figures for use with the awesome  Five Parsecs From Home skirmish rules by Nordic Weasel Games ( check them out here ) Expect a Batrep/mini review of the game soon.

 Angel Barracks Junkers

GZG Islamic federation

Various figures from Steel Crown Productions

and some more Steel Crown figs (the 2 big'uns on the right) and Dark Realm Kraytonians

Last but by no means least various figures from the exellent Solar Empire Marines line from CinC.

I've also started to make some scatter terrain for my space port terrain, once I feel I have enough for a nine tile setup I'll be using them to dig into 5 Parsecs.

Well that's it for now, stay tuned, more to follow soon , I hope ;-)

6MMR&P Challenge 1st week report

Well here we are, the end of my first week of the 6 Month Mountain Reduction & Painting Challenge. I must say It has been a rather productive week for me,I've managed to sort through most of my leadpile digging out all the 6mm scifi stuff so now I can start planning what I'm going to paint and when. I'm hoping this will alow me to stay a bit more focused than my usual meanderings from one project to another and maybe back so I can actually finish something for a change.
Now I hear you thinking "Well that's all fine and dandy but this here's a painting challenge innit?" and you are right!
So what have I been doing, well I've been pimpin' cars. That's right, I spent the whole week chopping up,rebuilding and painting all the cars, trucks and even some excavators I could find in an attempt to populate the nearly empty streets of Cherry Blossom Heights, my slowly growing city board.
Now along with the pictures I'll try to do a little review of the various models and share my thoughts on them with you, I have also included the used car salesman (Angel Barracks Civilians) in each picture to give you all a sense of scale.

Ok so first up are these

three different versions of the Hippo Heavy truck from Brigade Models SAC line.
These were very nice and clean castings, no cleanup required. They are basically all the same chassis with different bits on the back. Easy to assemble and easy to paint their only downside to me is that the driver's cabs are a bit on the small side.
I had also bought the Springbok Jeep to go along with these but decided not to use it as it was way to small imo. Sadly, a not to uncommon occurance with these type of figures, as you'll see later.

The next ones I tackled were a bunch of different codes from GZG

These are the HEMMT Heavy Wheeled Truck(flatbed) and the Recovery Truck(Heavy Wheeled) with crane

They both cost the same, one gets you 2 trucks with crane, the other gets you 2 trucks without the crane...      that being said they are nice and beafy models with a lot of detail. One final note, the dozer blade and digging bucket on the orange one are from the Engineering and recovery vehicle accesorry parts pack.

Two tracked excavators

I bought these after seeing one in Angel Barracks Anvil Gate build, if you haven't seen it check it out here http://angelbarracks.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=34
Fun fact, they fit perfectly on the back of the flatbed heavy wheeled trucks.
There should be three in the pack but I havn't been able to locate the third one yet.

The next bunch of vehicles are actually from three different packs namely, All terrain rovers 2x4 wheeled( the 2on the right), 2x6 wheeled( the 2 on the left), Civillian vehicles and the Light wheeled scout/attack vehicle(2 in the middle)

So what happened? well all the vehicles in the last two packs were way to small imo. Here's some pics

.

I managed to bang two of the recon vehicles together with some of the civilian cars to get something a 6mm human might fit into and I'm still looking for ways to salvage something from the rest.

On to greener pastures now,
Some Bullfrog amphibious pickup trucks from Angel Barracks.

What can I say, these were a joy to paint and assemble and easy to convert to. I may even get some more of these (in 6 months time that is ;-))

The last two I did are some Khazari Raiders from Steel Crown Pruductions
I really like this model, nice detail, clean casts, no cleaning needed.
Normally the models come with the missile launcher, a big honkin' gun and some kind of shield generator.
I had ordered these through the parts shop and got a bunch of other turret options to go with them.
I magnetised all the different turret options and they pop right in without any further modifications.

One last group shot to round off this show

Well that's it for now,
see you next week,
Stroezie signing off.

TUTORIAL: "Painting 6mm Desert Buildings"

I'm not sure if everyone had seen this quick tutorial by Tony Francis, of Brigade Models, on how he paints their line of 6mm Desert Buildings. Even though the tutorial was originally posted on the Brigade Models blog over a month ago, it is still interesting and informative, so here is a link to the original post
