October Rolls In ... Next Challenge

Not much happening in the land of sewing or any crafting I'm afraid ... I've lost my mojo and don't know where to even start looking for it ... think I'll just leave it alone and it will find it's own way home.

September Chookshed Challenge was my Scrappy Wall Hanger but with grandies visiting before and during school holidays ... bathroom reno ... Throw in an absess forming after what I'm thinking was a spider bite on my back while gardening with Grandson F ... much driving to and fro for medical ... and my wall hanging is still as is. He chose the violas to go with our tomato plants and later I snuck in some gladiolas.

I was eager to finish my first every granny square rug early in September and am very happy with how it turned out.  Great for wool scrap busting as I managed 3 rugs from 2 wool kits and only purchased the white wool for last row of each square and joining.

October Challenge is whatever project was left on my list which is "King Bed Quilt".  I'll keep plugging along on this one as I really want it finished and on my bed. Not to mention the machine has been set up on the dining table so I have room to work on the long rows.

Thank you Deana and Chooky for this Chookshed Challenge.  I started the year with flying colours and while I've let slide on a couple of challenges, I for sure would not have achieved what I have without being challenged.

Tuffet Time

Back again with some more finished items that I hadn't shared before.  I purchased a Tuffet kit a while back, chose fabrics, changed my mind on the fabrics, and ended up make two covers. So then I've been sourcing all the extra bits to make the 2nd tuffet.  This was the first completed with my 2nd choice of fabrics, goes better in my lounge.

This 3D card was a fun make and yes, I wrote a message on the note in the bottle.

Here is another section of our Exhibition. I had forgotten to take photos of the entryway adorned in a Christmas theme.

Last but not least, this is the 2nd tuffet completed just today, with my first choice of fabrics. This one will go lovely in Mum's lounge....surprise mum!

A quiet day today with no power for almost 12 hours, luckily back on in time to cook dinner.

This, That and Everything Else

Sigh ... where do I start.  Had a lovely time today, zooming with the Chookshed Stitchers. When asked what I had been up to my replay was "taking a long time to achieve very little".  Honestly, where does the time go?

Once a month I like to attend a card making afternoon, that's when the rains don't arrive on that one day and I get stuck at home.  I did make it in August and just realised I don't have a photo of that card.  The sweet gnomes are from July that I didn't get to but the lovely lady kept a kit for me.  The flower pot were a previous afternoon.

Once again I didn't get round to posting my August 'Churn Dash' blocks so here they are.

And for something different, here are September's blocks and we're only a 1/3 of the way through the month.

Last Tuesday I got to go and mind this little Picaso. We also did a big tidy up in the sandpit, baked a chocolate cake for daddy's (my son) birthday and did the school bus run for big brother.

Our little Patchwork Group of  8 along with local artists, are currently having an exhibition in the local Art Gallery. These are some of the girls quilts ... my flimsies are the 2 folded over coat hangers and the 2 folded over a towel rack. The birdhouse wall hangings were our Christmas gifts to each other in 2020.

So ... tomorrow I'll take a pick of the card I missed and my first tuffet and what I was working on today/tonight.  Do we ever catch up?

Just Waiting

Seems everything around here is just waiting.

Waiting for the evening cool and someone to play with me.

Waiting for some filling so our gorgeous little grandson can give it a test drive sit.

Waiting for the final step of sandwich, quilt and bind.

Another waiting for the same final step.

Waiting for the wind to drop ... for the last couple months there's been hardly a day without wind drying the countryside out.

Waiting for a chance to sew some more letters ... these 5 are hot off the sewing machine.

The hardest wait ... waiting for some good rain and an end to this cruel drought.

Time Keeps Ticking On

Warning ... photo heavy post ... the last 3 weeks have flown :)  I've noticed lots of bloggers are having the same issue with their days disappearing almost before they begin ... is there a global time thief or is life simply speeding up for everyone?

Aunty Millie has 5 new babies she helps care for.

We spent some time pruning in the garden.

DD and her fiancee came to visit and Spencer had a sleepover.

Aunty Millie making sure they share.

My lovely prize from Anthea and CTTY

A purchase from Michelle.

There has been a little stitching at night.

Some sewing last weekend...
I found these over here.

And the centre blocks are together on 'Crossroads to Jericho'

This little farm has come together and just needs a touch more stitching on the border appliques.

There was also a visit and cuddles with our gorgeous grandson ... my parents, niece and nephew visited ... housework ... book work ... cattle work ... then there's meal times and bed time before it starts all over again.

I'm sure you all know how it goes ... this is just a quick snippet of my days.

Hope you can squeeze a little (or a lot) of sewing into your days     >^..^<

Up, Down and Round About

Hubby and I enjoyed a lovely visit with DS, DIL and GS last Sunday. He's blossoming after his early arrival and they make such a gorgeous little family.  Lots of cuddle time too!

Monday was Patchwork day for our little group so I finally packed the sewing machine up and took it in with me to continue with the border blocks on the scrappy quilt from the workshop. Usually I do handwork because it's less to pack and unpack.

Yesterday I made the trip into town, picked up Mum and went to view all the stunning quilts at the Bundaberg Quilters Biannual Quilt Exhibition. A lovely morning out ... caught up with some of the other girls from our Patchwork group ... yummy lunch and of course a purchase or two from the great stalls.

Found the perfect fabric for the backing of Little Maccas Farm quilt for bubby and a couple of reels of thread. This little light will clip nicely onto my embroidery hoop and the sweet tins are just because.

During the week I'm driving over rough dirt roads to and from town work or helping hubby on the property. We're back feeding cows again as the little bit of grass quickly disappears. Poor things ... when they hear the tractor at the shed, they start making their way across the paddock and up the lane to meet it. You can hear them calling to each other ... "he's coming, he's coming".  Then this morning I didn't even finish filling the kitchen sink to do the breakfast dishes when the water stopped flowing ... empty rainwater tank! Lucky we have another tank on the car shed with some water but how long will it last?

To top it off I had to walk 2 km home this afternoon ... hubby's vehicle wouldn't start when we were working up the paddock so I needed to take my car back up to jump start it. Just glad we weren't right over in the back corner and kept thinking of the positive side ... all the calories I was burning.

Well it's time for some dinner followed by some more blanket stitching and then time for some zzzzzzzz's ready for whatever the new week will bring.

Keep the needle threaded and keep smiling.     >^..^<

Keeping Busy and Frozen Fun

Last weekend would have to have been the coldest weekend yet ... just when some of our group were going away for a weekend retreat at Gayndah. Cold or not we had a fantastic time learning, sewing, chatting with old friends and making new friendships. I thoroughly enjoyed working on my scrappy quilt with tutor Jacky Hens and have managed to complete the first 30 blocks ... next are the border blocks.

Cutting ...

Sewing ...

Finished blocks.

I am going to work on the practice of having only 3 main focus projects on the go at one time (I can only try as I like jumping from one to another).  Of course 'Little Maccas Farm' for baby Jake is my 1st project. 'Billy Goat' is the 12th and last animal block and now it's onto the centre block.

My 2nd focus project is the above scrappy quilt and my 3rd project is the crochet knee rug. Now that I have had a refresher course (thanks Mum) if I keep doing a row here and there I won't forget how the pattern goes.  It's growing .....

Happy Sunday     >^..^<

Sunday Seams Update

I know! It was a shock for me too, lol.  One last dash to finish off the next leg of the race quilt and then outside to battle with the breeze.

I'm hoping to use only strips from the 2 jelly rolls I started with, hence the coloured sash.

Spectating is so much more relaxing.

FNSI and Sunday Seams

Had a lovely time Friday night stitching along with everybody. The vine around my 'S' grew lots of holly leaves.
Before

After

There's never enough time in a day anymore so even though I don't get to leave many comments, I always like to take a quick look around as many blogs to see what they've been creating.

Usually when it comes to my sewing I am the 'Tortoise'.  If at a class or workshop, I'm always the student that's bringing up the rear and taking home the most homework. As evident by my many few finishes this year, my projects can take a considerably l-o-n-g time in the making.
BUT!
I do think I can count myself as the 'Hare' this week with my next photo. Those 16 blocks that have been appearing here and there can now be called a finished centre...and in only 1 week. Lots of seams to match up!

Now back to 'Tortoise' mode as I play with sashing and the border.

Hope you find some time to create this weekend.    >^..^<
