New Year ... New Challenge

Have you heard the saying "What you do on New Year's Day ... you do all year"?  Well ... I sewed!

I added the last 3 days of December to Row 9 of 2024 Temperature Quilt. Monday I appliqued "2024" to the top left corner and yesterday joined the last couple of horizontal seams. Now the bottom right piece needs location name which I've decided to hand embroider.

Chookshed Challenge #6

My number 6 project is Card Making, however my number 10 is small embroidery kits which I thought I could incorporate into my cards. I have allowed myself to switch #6 and #10 so I'll be working on the embroideries instead and have chosen this little rose.

My last finish for 2024 was a Diamond Dot Art I began when I was resting up with a sprained ankle. It's been finished for a few weeks and was awaiting a frame. Initially I thought this would be my first and last but now that it's done I reckon I could do another.

Tonight I have begun the Temp Quilt embroidery while watching TV and listening to the rain on the roof.

FNWF and a ZOOM Finish

Ms Kitty on the left was already finished and waiting for her friend to join so Ms Kitty on the right had her stitching finished Friday night. Thank you Cheryll for bringing us together once again.

I did have intentions of cutting fabric for my next project ... these 8 were laid out ready.

But I wasn't completely happy with my colour choice so instead I thumbed through some magazines. You know the ones you put aside to make a project and the pile grows but you never find the time to make said project. Then when I revisit the magazine I've changed my mind.

This morning I auditioned a differed colourway using only 4 fabrics ... much happier now :)

ZOOM .... last Sunday Chookyblue held a gathering over zoom and I was able to join in for the afternoon/evening. Always a lovely time sewing and chatting although this time was somewhat quieter as everyone was extra industrious. I was happy to finish hand stitching the binding on one of these table runners and then finished the 2nd one the next day at our little patchwork group.

FNWF Result

Yes, I did manage some stitching after many more cuddles.

At the end of 2016 I promised myself I am going to stitch one of Michelle Ridgway's Calendar Bears each month this year. I've had a couple prepared for a while so took this one with me.

Just a Little Brag Post

Yesterday was our local show and while I spend the day helping out in the office, it's always nice to have a couple of entries in the pavilion ... the more the merrier and we always have an excellent display of flowers, cooking, craft and much more for our little show.

I was lucky enough to catch the judges eye with these two entries.

I'm afraid there hasn't been a lot of time for anything else much ... I did start another new project, crochet this time (just can't stay focused for long) ... and have been adding a couple of rows each night. It was a kit using 3 strands of no. 8 wool and a 15 mm hook.

The cool change in the weather has been nice but I'm not liking the yukky throat, tickly cough and hot eyes this morning ... I'm off to crochet some more ... the rug is big enough now to keep my knees warm while I work.

Happy Sunday

FNWF Results

Chris Hemsworth kept me company last night while I knitted and stitched with friends for FNWF. Snow White is a lucky lass indeed ;o)

First I was able to finish knitting this so soft cloth in 'Giggle' ... one for the Christmas Gift Box. Love how the variegate has formed a crisscross pattern.

Next onto this Needle Case stitchery which will also be one for the Gift Box.

While Mum was visiting she trialed a pattern from BH&G for a jar cosy.

Thinking some of these would be nice for little gifts and I have plenty of jars.

Thanks Cheryll for hosting another fab Friday ... looking forward to seeing who else was busy last night.

Happy Weekend
