White Christmas

I know that tomorrow is the first day of fall, but I have a Christmas card to share today. This is card #17 for Project Christmas 2013.

I combined two challenges on this card. The layout is ART15 from A Random Thursday blog and the all white colour scheme is C4C203 from the Crazy for Challenges blog. I thought the all white challenge was absolutely perfect for snowflakes.

I used Sweet Tooth card stock for the card base and for all the elements on the card. I used the Washi Patterns Die-namics to cut out the two washi strips then stamped them with patterns from the Washi Patterns stamp set, using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink. After a few minutes I realized I could emboss them with white powder, but I think the ink had tried a tad too much and I didn't get complete coverage with the embossing powder. But I still like the end result...it's almost like distressed embossing to me. Like the "snow" has been wiped off the patterns. The sentiment from Stitched Stockings was stamped with Steel Blue Premium Dye Ink.
I used the largest of the Let It Snowflake Die-namics to cut out the Sweet Tooth snowflake then I gave it a generous coating of Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze. Once that dried I mounted the snowflake on foam tape.
Here's a shot of the shine on the snowflake. I love that it's both sparkly and shiny! And by the way, I discovered that it is not easy to photograph an all white card, so my apologies for the poor photos.

MFTeaser - Happy Birthday

Welcome to day five of seven fabulous days of MFT teasers!

I made a clean and simple birthday card using the new Who's That Girl? Bunches of Birthday Wishes stamp set. All the new products will be available in the MFT Boutique on July 9th at 10pm EDT. Hop over to the MFT Blog for a list of today's participating designers and for the amazing prize info!

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then added a layer of Kraft. I knew I wanted to keep this card clean and simple, so then I set to work on the image panel. The colour scheme is the ARTC4 challenge...it's so pretty and earthy.

I stamped the image from Who's That Girl? Bunches of Birthday Wishes with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card, then I coloured her with copic markers. I added some grounding so she didn't look like she was floating in mid-air.

I used the Accent It - Celebrate Die-namics to cut out the word "happy" across the top of the image panel, then I stamped the sentiment using Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Who's That Girl Bunches of Birthday Wishes and added pattern thanks to the Jumbo Mod Borders and Kraft Premium Dye Ink.

You're a Stitch

Have you seen the new challenge blog, A Random Thursday Challenge? I think it's going to be a lot of fun because the challenges can be anything. Last week for the first challenge it was a theme and this week is a clean and simple sketch, ARTC2. If you're a regular around here then you know how much I love me a sketch challenge so I had to play along.

I totally embraced the clean and simple with this card. I was tempted to add a couple of layers but I'm really glad I didn't because I love the result. Oooh, and how about the colour combo: Primitive Cream, Kraft, Paver Red, and Hot Fudge. Love!!! The dress form from Sew Nifty was perfect for the tall element and I cut it out of Kraft card stock using the Sew Nifty Die-namics. Then I stamped the image with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink onto the Kraft cutout and again onto a scrap of Paver Red so I could paper piece the body.

I used the Scallop Ribbon Die-namics to cut out the Hot Fudge horizontal element then wrapped it with Hemp Cord and added a Natural button. The sentiment was stamped with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink. I felt the card needed a little 'je ne sais quoi' so I chose one of the flourishes from Finishing Flourishes and stamped it three time with Kraft Premium Dye Ink.

On the inside I added another sentiment from Sew Nifty and stamped the double stitch lines from Hearts and Stitches.

Here's the sketch in case you have a few minutes to play along.
