One Step Closer

This was the scene from the highlight of my day today.

We said goodbye to school yesterday and goodbye to my surgical drains today.
HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF!
This puts me one step closer to being on the real road to recovery.  The road that will continue on and not have any more surgery pit stops.  I like this road.

With the drains being out, I do feel better.  I am still super itchy because the sutures won't come out until Tuesday.  My ribs are sore and I have some blisters on my sides from where the drains were pressing up against my skin for a week.  I still have to wear the ace bandage around my ribs to hold the girls in place.  I will have to wear that for 3 more weeks.  :/
But no more drains and no more compression bra.  That is a nice thing.

*I also wanted to give an update on my grandpa.  Things are looking up.
He is currently receiving his 2nd round of chemo.  The 1st round went well and then he had 3 weeks off.  He has been super tired, but not really sick at all.  Before he started the 2nd round, he met with one of his doctors and she delivered some FANTASTIC news.  Because he is Superman and has been so healthy, the leukemia is taking a back seat to the chemo.  It has slowed it way down and now they are saying that he could stick around for 2 years or so.  2 years is SO much better than 2 months.  As long as he feels good anyway.

That has a nice ring to it.  Thanks Deleen!  The t-shirts are being made as we speak. :)
Love it.
