no sewing ...

There is no time for sewing at the moment as I am hiding behind the books. If I am not I am on the way with the kids to rugby matches, chess tournaments or minding a sick child at home.

I have a plan to finish the Nordik circles so back to printing and cutting paper.

Time is flying ...

Ich habe das Gefuehl, ich bin dauernd unterwegs, aber nichts passiert. Ich habe festgestellt, dass es schon wieder ewig her ist, dass ich gebloggt habe, aber es gibt gerade auch nicht viel zu zeigen. Zumindest keine handgearbeiteten Sachen. Aber ich zeige euch einiges, das so rundherum passier. Also da war mal der "Irisch Tag" in der Schule. Nachdem ich ein Kind in der Gruppe "Junior Infants to 2nd class" und zwei in der Gruppe bis zur 6ten Klasse hatte und sich die einzelnen Darbietungen generell nicht an das Zeitlimit halten, stand ich den ganzen Vormittag in der School Hall. Es war toll, den vielen irischen Liedern und der musikalischen Darbietung zuzuhoeren, den Taenzen zu folgen und mit zu klatschen und so einen wunderbaren Vormittag zu verbringen.
Oh time is flying and it is a long while ago since I was writing. Actually there was not really lots going on but I felt I was running around all the time. So there is almost no sewing done - at least nothing I can show - but there were some things going on in school. First we had the "Irish Day" in school where all classes prepare songs, poems, dramas,etc to show to the parents and all is done in Gaelic. The best for me as I have no clue what they ware talking about and as I have kids in the first group and the second group I spent the whole morning in school. I love watching them!
 

Damit die Woche auch noch ein weiteres Event in der Schule hat und eine Moeglichkeit, Geld fuer die Schule zu sammeln, gab es noch den sogenannten "Cakesale". Die Eltern bringen Kleinigkeiten als Lospreise, backen Kuchen oder Muffins und kaufen das am Morgen wieder in der Schule. Wir haben uns die cookies von Susan als Rezept ausgesucht. Ein wenig improvisieren mussten wir, aber sie waren super lecker (was ich so von dem Minibeisser sagen kann, denn mehr hab ich nicht abbekommen)
In case that parents could get bored this week there was also a cake sale in school. This is one way to get money for the school: kids buy raffle tickets for prizes spent by the parents. So that it can be a lazy day in school the kids (or parents) bake cakes for sale on this morning. So you can support the school twice: spending a cake and buying it back later :) We tried the yummy recipe from Susan . Unfortunately we hat to improvise a little and the girls wanted to put sugary stars on top but it was really delicious (as I can tell from the little tiny bite I got)
 

Gestern gab es noch das letzte grosse Event fuer diese Woche - bin ich froh, dass heute Feiertag ist - mit dem Glynn Cup bei den Corinthians. Wir hatten Glueck und die Sonne zeigte sich die meiste Zeit und bis auf fuenf Minuten hail war es nicht mal kalt. Well done boys!
Yesterday we had the last big event at the Corinthinas: the Glynn Cup! We were lucky and the weather was really nice. A very tiny bit of hail, a bit of wind and most of all sunshine. So today I am happy it is a bank holiday and we can relax.Well done boys!

Mouthy Stitching Swap

Es ist immer aufregend an einem Swap teilzunehmen und die drei Damen Cindy, Hadely und Susan haben einen wunderbaren Tausch organisiert. Ich glaube nicht, dass sie jemals mit dieser unglaublichen Anzahl von 100 Teilnehmerinnen gerechnet haben. Aufgabe war es fuer eine geheime Partnerin ein Reissverschlusstaeschchen zu naehen und in den Taeschchen sollten sich Scraps befinden, die einen FQ ausmachen. Die erste Tage und Wochen musste man die Partnerin verfolgen, ihre Beitraege lesen, ihr Mosaik genau unter die Lupe nehmen und natuerlich das wichtigste - selbst Mouthy sein, dass auch meine Partnerin herausfindet, was mir gefaellt. Nach all dem stalken in der flickr group, dem blog und probieren, aussuchen und fragen wurde diese Pouch fuer meine Partnerin genaeht ...
It is so exciting to take part in Mouthy Stitching Swap and these three ladies  Cindy, Hadely und Susan organised this wonderful swap. I am sure they did not think about the echo when they called out on their blogs how many wanted to join the swap. I was one of the lucky ones and got a place with 99 (!!) others. Amazing what they did! Task was to make a zipper pouch for a secret partner and put in some scraps about one the size of a FQ. The first days and weeks it was just about to stalk the secret partner, have a close look at her mosaic, read her blog, read what she wrote in the flickr group - and to be mouthy as well so my partner finds out what I like. After all the time stalking that's what I made for my partner ...

In dem Taeschchen befand sich noch eine kleine Tasche und auf der anderen Seite ein Gummiband um Garnrollen zu fixieren. Weil meine Partnerin die Tasche fuer ihre Naehobjekte verwenden wollte, musste natuerlich noch etwas fuer die Nadeln gefunden werden. Wer hat schon Lust darauf, sich jedes Mal in den Finger zu stechen, wenn man in die Tasche greift. Damit aber in der Pouch noch genug Platz ist, wurde einfach ein kleines Mini-Reissverschlusstascherl gemacht, welches ein kleines Nadelkissen beinhaltet.
Inside she can find a little pocket and on the other side there is an elastic band to hold eventually some cones because she wanted it to use for sewing. But if you sew there has to be a place for the needles. Nobody wants to get the needle in the finger every time you pick something from the pouch. So I made a little zipper bag with a needle cushion for the needles ...

Und heute ist es endlich im UK angekommen! Suzan ist begeistert und liebt ihr neues kleines Taeschchen! Ich bin so erleichtert. Es sind aufregende Tage, wenn man darauf wartet, dass das Swapobjekt ankommt - keiner will dass sein Packerl verloren geht - und auf die Nachricht, dass man die Partnerin gut gestalkt hat und ihren Geschmack getroffen hat.  Weil Suzan mich auch nach Connemara gefragt hat. Heute gab es den Connacht Blitz U8/U9 in Casltebar und Irland hat sich von seiner besten Seite gezeigt: Ankunft im strahlenden Sonnenschein, Aufwaermen in Kaelte, erstes Match im Regen, zweites Match bei eisigem Wind, doch bis zum letzten Spiel kam die Sonne raus und es wurde auch angenehm warm :)
Finally today I got the good news that the parcel arrived in the UK. Suzan loves her new pouch and she will use it instantly. Isn't that perfect? All these exciting days waiting for the good news that it arrived - nobody wants the parcel to get lost - and the best: she loves it! I am so happy that I met her taste. Because Suzan asked me about Connemara: Today we went of to the Connacht Blitz U8/U9 in Castlebar and the Irish weather show all his sides: arriving in beautiful sunshine, warm up in freezing cold, first match in rain, second match with freezing wind but till the last match the sun came out again and it good warm!

Nun kann ich ganz relaxed auf mein kleines Taeschchen warten und ich bin mir sicher, dass auch meine Partnerin mich gut beobachtet hat und ein wunderbares Taeschchen bei mir ankommen wird!
 Now I can sit down and relax. I just have to wait for my pouch to arrive and I am sure that my partner made something gorgeous for me too.
