THE ALL STAR ORCHESTRA - A FAR EAST FANTASY IN LATIN DANCE RHYTHM

Record producer George Ching began bringing Japanese bands to Hawaii after World War II when it was again acceptable for Japanese-Americans there to publicly reaffirm their ties to Japan. He released this imaginative album, originally titled "A Far East Fantasy In Latin Dance Rhythm," on his 49th State Hawaii label sometime in the late 1950s. The songs had been popular in the pre-1945 Japanese Empire or in areas occupied by Japanese forces during World War II. The arrangements reflected the Latin dance craze back then.... Great album! Carlos Faxas was a composer from Cuba.... I can't find any info about the two ep's I have from him on the Irama label but I think he was probably staying in Jakarta in the early 60's with his Combo Inder and the Los Modernistas, playing the night clubs in Jakarta.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!

TOKYO CUBAN BOYS - LA BAMBA

Excellent album from the Tokyo Cuban Boys, very percussion driven, says on discogs (and some other sites) that this album came out in 1977 and that it's a "Rare Japanese pressing Direct Cutting recording Audiophile Latin LP". Might be rare, but it's going for pretty cheap prices there... Xavier Cugat did a drawing for the back-cover.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!
