Nerd News: Shuttering the Yale Interdisciplinary Initiative for the Study of Anti-Semitism
The campus Powers That Be have decided to pull the plug on its five-year-old Yale Interdisciplinary Initiative for the Study of Antisemitism. Needless to say, this has caused a flap. Powerline has 3 recent posts on this: here, here, and most recently here. At the very least, the whole thing simply looks bad on Yale: "Let's take a serious look at anti-Semitism ... Oops, we don't think we're going to anymore." Well, it can't be because they think anti-Semitism is no longer a problem.

Quirky Asia Files: Judaism's Popularity in South Korea
Fascinating! Here's a blurb:
The Talmud is a bestseller in South Korea - even the government insists it is good for you, and has included it on the curriculum for primary school children.
Lee Chang-ro heads a literature research team at the Ministry for Education. He says: "The reasons why Korean children are taught Talmud are pretty obvious. Koreans and Jews both have a long history of oppression and surviving adversity with nothing but their own ingenuity to thank. There are no natural resources to speak of in Korea, so, like the Jews, all we can develop is our minds."

More Musical Chanukah Awesomeness: "I Light It" by Six13
Thanks to reader Chana, here is a great follow-up to the Maccabeats' "Candlelight." It is nice to see a cappella awesomeness alive and well. By the way, with all this musical holiday entertainment, the Opera Diva has now proclaimed me an honorary Jew. How fun is that!

A Musical Happy Hanukkah with "Candlelight" by the Maccabeats
Check out this delightful musical video that was sent to me by a friend today. (The lyrics are here.) The Maccabeats (what a great name, by the way) is the all-male a cappella group of Yeshiva University. Oh, and -- of course -- a very Happy Hanukkah to the Opera Diva and everyone else celebrating the holiday.

Friday Fun Video: Online Dating with Brandon Walker
Valentine's Day is tomorrow, so here is an appropriately themed video post for all you lovebirds and singletons.
Remember Brandon Walker, whom we last saw eating Chinese food on Christmas? Last year he made a fun musical video about a nice Jewish boy looking for a nice Jewish girl, along with poking fun at stereotypes from matzo balls to Matisyahu.
Enjoy!

Friday Fun Video: Chinese Food on Christmas
The "Friday Fun Video" feature has a seasonal twist today! Check out Brandon Walker's playful video about what a nice Jewish boy might do on Christmas. Link via Serious Eats. (And yes, Brandon plays with Jewish stereotypes because he's a comedian.)
