Quo vadis ?

§ Qualche tempo fa Mari@  pubblicò sul suo blog dei manifesti ed io mi innamorai di questo.

La faccina del bimbo con la testina insaponata è adorabile e lo volevo per il bagno dei "bambini".

Così contattai Mari@ tramite il suo Etsy per poterlo avere.

§ Some time ago Mari@ published on her blog some posters and I fell in love with this.

The little face of the kid with the soapy head is just unbeatable and I wanted it for the "kids" bathroom.

Thus I got in contact with her through her Etsy.

§ E' arrivato ieri , semplicemente delizioso come mi aspettavo ma accompagnato da un gioiello.

§ It arrived yesterday , simply delightful as I expected it to be but it came with a jewel.

§ Quo Vadis era uno dei libri, e dei film, preferiti dalla mia mamma e lo avevo scritto sul mio commento nel blog di Maria quando aveva presentato il mini libro.

Qualcuno di voi ricorderà l'alluvione di Novembre nelle 5 Terre e a Genova. Un disastro !
In quell'occasione fu lanciata una raccolta di ricette che dovevano costituire un libro a favore della Casa Famiglia di Borghetto Vara.
C'è voluto un po' di tempo ma finalmente il libro è pronto .
Si potrà acquistare solo tramite il sito dell'Editore e TUTTI i proventi andranno ai Bambini di Borghetto.
Andate sul blog di Patrizia che ha promosso questa bella iniziativa e comprate un librino : sono ricette  di mamme , nonne e zie , food-bloggers oppure no , ma tutte collaudate, divertenti e adatte alla famiglia.
Io ho già prenotato le mie 6 copie , regali di Natale in ritardo , voi andate a dare un'occhiata.

ikea

§ Oggi è arrivato il catalogo Ikea.

Ognuno può pensarne ciò che vuole ma a me Ikea piace.

Ho avuto la necessità di comprare la cucina da loro e ho trovato più professionalità e disponibilità di quanto ne abbia mai trovato in mobilifici di ben altro livello.

Ma non era questo che volevo dirvi.

Guardate la copertina, non sembra una casa delle bambole?

I had to buy the kithen from them and I found more professionalism and helpfulness than I had ever found in much higher level shops.

But this is not what I wanted to tell you.

Qualche tempo fa ho letto un libro di Muriel Barbery, giovane scrittrice francese: il libro era "L'eleganza del riccio" e davvero l'ho amato.

La storia della portinaia Renée mi ha ammaliato e ha avvinto milioni di persone prima di me.

Così quando in libreria ho visto "Estasi culinarie" della stessa autrice mi sono precipitata a comprarlo.

La storia si svolge nello stesso lussuoso condominio parigino dove Renée è portinaia e narra la storia di monsieur Arthens, il più grande critico gastronomico del mondo. Nel tentativo di recuperare il Sapore perfetto egli ricorda il suo passato e la vita di tutti coloro che gli sono stati vicino si dipana ai nostri occhi.

Non vi dico altro perchè non sono un critico letterario ma la descrizione dei sapori e dei profumi è avvincente mentre il racconto è illuminante sulla volgarità e l'arroganza del potere.

Ma l'altro motivo per cui non ho potuto resistergli è stata la copertina.

La torta è assurdamente golosa ed irresistibilmente bella: ho DOVUTO riprodurla in miniatura.

Some time ago I read a book by Muriel Barbery, young French writer: the book was "L'élegance du hérisson" and I truly loved it.

The story of the doorkeeper Renée enchanted me and it has kept millions of people before me.

Thus when I saw in a bookshop "La gourmandise" by the same author I ran to buy it.

The story is set in the same Paris luxury block of flats where Renée is doorkeeper and talks of monsieur Arthens, world greatest gastronomic critic. Trying to catch back the perfect Flavour he recalls his past life and the lives of those who have been beside him unfold in front of our

I cannot say anymore because I'm not a literary critic but the description of flavours and smells is breathtaking while the book throws a light on the vulgarity and arrogance of power.

But the other reason why I bought it was the cover.

That cake is absurdly yummi and irresistebly beautiful: I HAD to reproduce it in miniature.

Sono un po' in ritardo con il mio blog. Non pensiate che stia con le mani in mano però, al contrario!
Sto ricamando come una pazza: il nuovo sedile della seggiolina mi sta portando via un SACCO di tempo e soprattutto mi sta facendo diventare strabica.
In compenso sta venendo una bellezza e , se sarò in grado di montarlo bene, penso che mi darà molta soddisfazione.
Contemporaneamente al mini lavoro mi sono concessa un libro, anzi un mini libro anche se in scala 1:1 e mi permetto di consigliarvelo.
Parla , indovinate un po', di case, meglio di una piccola casa.
Il titolo è " la Petite Maison" di Jean-Francois de Bastide ed è stato pubblicato, con due diversi finali, nel 1758 e nel 1763.
La storia di seduzione della virtuosa Mélite da parte del Marchese di Trémicour è solo un pretesto per la meticolosa descrizione della petite maison. La successione delle stanze e la decorazione delle stesse è così dettagliata che sembra letteralmente di poterle vedere.
Ogni lambris, ogni stucco , ogni doratura è raccontata come una storia a sè e mette l'accento sulla voluttà dell'insieme che è nato per suscitare l'amore o meglio ancora l'erotismo.
Sarebbe una fantastica sfida riprodurre questi ambienti stando attenti proprio a quella atmosfera languida e rilassata.

I'm a bit late with my blog. But do not think that I'm keeping hands in hands, all the contrary.
I'm stitching like a crazy: the new seat for the chair is taking me away a LOT of time and worst of all it is making me squintish.
Anyway it is becoming a beauty and I think that, if I'll be able to fix it properly, it will give me much satisfaction.
In the meanwhile I've indulged in a book, better a mini book although it is in 1:1 scale and I'm counselling it to you. It talks, how strange,of houses, better, of a small home.
The title is "La Petite Maison" by Jean-Francois de Bastide and it has been published with two different finals in 1758 and 1763.
The story of the seduction of virtuos Mélite by the Marquis de Trémincour is just pretestuos for the meticoulous description of the petite maison. The layout of rooms and their decoration it is so detailed that is litterally like seeing them.
Any lambris, any stuccos, any gilding is told like a history in itself and stress on the voluptuosness of the whole which has been constructed to arouse love or better still eroticism.
It would be a fantastic challenge to riproduce those ambients paying attention on that languid and relaxed atmosphere.
