Celebrating The Creative Knitter!

Hi friends!  I don't know how many of you know Stephanie Klauck.  She worked creatively for My Favorite Things for many years.  She lives in Canada near the US border and I live in the US near the Canadian border.  I got to know her when she taught classes at the stamp store here in Buffalo called Buffalo Stamps & Stuff.  Stephanie came once every month to teach classes using MFT products.  We had so much fun at those classes, and Stephanie has an infectious laugh.  We were missing those classes during the Covid and border shutdowns.

Well it seems Stephanie wasn't idle during that time.  She picked up her knitting needles and dove head first into a new career.  She began dying her own yarn and started an online company from her home calling it The Creative Knitter.  Well now she's taken it a step further and opened a brick and mortar store in Ridgeway, Ontario.  You can read more about it on her Instagram and Facebook accounts.

So I thought I'd send a congratulatory card to her.  I found the perfect stamps for this card.  They are from The Greetery.    I stamped, colored and die cut the super cute image of this moose (hello...Canada is full of them!) and lamb knitting!  The background is a stencil in a knitted pattern that I created with blue ink.  I die cut the sentiment from red cardstock and the shaddow from white.  I matted this on a blue panel before adding it to a white card base.  I just hope this reaches her.  I have another friend in Kitchener, Ontario who I sent a card to and it was sent back as no such address.  It was her exact address, confirmed by her!  Ugh!  Fingers crossed it gets there!

Thanks for stopping by!

Top-Down Kind of Day

Hello there!  I just love this set from The Greetery, so much so that I purchased it twice!  Ugh!  I didn't realize I purchased it when it first came out.  When I saw the fall addition stamp set that recently came out, I had to have it!  I stamped and die cut the car and the pumpkins and colored them with the layering stamps.  It's just so cute!  I die cut a small rectangle that fit the sentiment and the car.  Then I went to work on the background.  The Greetery has a three-step stencil that I used to create this background with just two inks.  The aqua color was blended darker with one stencil and lighter with another.  Love how that came out!  I added sequins and shimmer, of course!

Blessed

Hello!  My mother-in-law asked me to make a special card for her.  She knows a young man from her church that is becoming a priest, and she is going to his ordination.  She gave me a good amount of time ahead of the occasion to make this card, and I used that time to ponder how to create this card.  I pulled out all the crosses I have and settled on this one.  This set is from The Greetery and is intended as an Easter set.  I die cut the cross from white cardstock then impressed it with a woodgrain plate.  I sponged antique linen distress oxide ink on it.  I stamped the palm leaves on the panel and layered the cross and other floral and leaf images on it.  The sentiment was die cut three times and adhered together.  I added shimmer to the flowers, cross, and sentiment.  I also added crystals for more shimmer.  I don't know if you can see it, but I stenciled the cross on the envelope and stamped some flowers and leaves on it as well.  This is a little larger than an A2 size card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #170 - Adventurous

Hello!  The new Time Out challenge has us being ADVENTUROUS.

I had a little difficulty with this one.  I saw this Greetery stamp set on my desk and saw the Welcome Baby sentiment and thought well that's an adventure!  So I went with it.  This is a layering set with five different layers.  I started with the light pink balloon, then stamped the bright green leaves.  Next came the two flower layers then the darker green layer for the leaves.  The string was stamped in black and the sentiment in the cranberry color I used on the flowers.  The panel was die cut with a Greetery die, and that panel looked a bit bare.  I pulled out this large polka dot stencil, masked the balloon and stenciled the dots with the light pink ink.  Now I hope I know someone having a baby girl!

Just Us Girls #545 - Color Week

Hello there!  We have a great and unusual color challenge going on over at Just Us Girls this week.  Cecile chose mustard, teal and light grey.

I really like this color combination more than I thought I would.  I used it with this window stamp and die set from The Greetery.  I just used three colors:  sauna and twilight from Catherine Pooler and tropical teal from My Favorite Things.  I double stamped the shutters, the flower pot and the bricks to get the darker colors.  I stayed true to the color combination!  The flower pot and the bottom of the curtain are up on dimensionals for a little bit of dimension.  I added sequins on the background and shimmer on other parts of the images.  The sentiment was stamped on the bottom with a darker grey ink.

Just Us Girls #499 - Word Week

Hi everyone!  It's the beginning of August and it's still SUMMER!  That's the word for Word Week over at Just Us Girls chosen by Carol. We just don't want it to end!

So I decided to use this cute set from a new company called The Greetery (such a cute name too!).  This set is called Feelin' Fan-Sea and the main images (this octopus and a starfish) are just so adorable.  I looked on their website to see how this octopus was colored and settled on green. I added the cute purple bow to her head and blue on the dots.  I added shimmer and glossy accents to them.   The fish were colored with various colors.  The "water" was created with a background stamp.  I added the pattern paper strip to which I scalloped the edges with a scallop edge die.  To finish it off, I added the sentiment and some raindrops.
