Just Us Girls #511 - Photo Week

Hello everyone!  It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby chose this pretty fall photo.

I made quite a few Halloween cards this year and this is the last of the ones I've made and maybe my favorite.  I've had this pumpkin die from Lil' Inkers for a long time and I don't think I've ever used it.  It die cuts the semi-circle and pumpkins all in one pass.  I then die cut the entire panel with a stitched rectangle.  I die cut another from thin cardstock to have a mask for the pumpkins while I sponged the clouds in the background with distress ink.  Then I colored the pumpkins with copic markers.  There is a separate die for the eyes and mouths to make them into jack-o-lanterns.  I added the die cut grass and stamped the bats on the panel.  The inside panel was sponged with more distress inks and spritzed with shimmer.  The white "stars" were made with a white gel pen.  I adhered that panel to the black base and added the main panel with dimensional tape.  Lastly, I added the Boo! die cut.  I loved how all the colors looked together when complete.  There's also shimmer on the Boo! die cut and pumpkins.

Wishing You a Happy Anniversary

Hello friends!  The Just Us Girls challenge this week is to use metallics.  I created a few things with metallics for this challenge for my design team card, so here's another that I created.

My best friend's sister and brother-in-law celebrated their 45th anniversary, and I made this card for them.  I started by die cutting the gold piece and adhering it to a white card base.  I love this gold paper from MFT!  It's so shiny!  Then I pulled out some older Spellbinders dies and cut the black and white pieces.  I added the sentiment and sequins and was done.  They loved the card!

You can still play along with the JUGs challenge until Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be posting tags I made using metallics soon!

Time Out #33 - Inspired by Words Reminder

Hi everyone!  I'm here to remind you that our current Time Out Challenge is going on for another week. It's our Inspired by Words challenge and the words are:

Happy is the bride that the sun shines on...

Last week, I made a card with a bride theme.  This week I'm focusing on the sunshine part.  I just organized all my dies.  I've had them organized alphabetically by company, but that was a problem because I found I was buying dies from companies that were similar and I didn't even realize I had!  And I was buying duplicates of them too!  So now, they are organized by category.  While I was doing that, I found these Lil' Inker dies I didn't know I had, and they were perfect for this challenge.  I die cut the sun and clouds from watercolor paper and watercolored them with distress inks.  I mounted them on a piece of cardstock that was given texture with a linen impression plate.  Then I just added some pretty sequins and the sentiment.

I used this sketch from CAS(E) this sketch.

Just Us Girls #263 - Color Week

Hi everyone!  I'm the hostess this week over at Just Us Girls and I've got an interesting color combo for our Color Week.  I hope you like it!

I've been enamored with Kristina Werner's colorful backgrounds lately.  (You'll see another one tomorrow!)  I used distress inks and a blender tool to achieve the background.  I then die cut the ghosts.  The large one is on a wobble, and they are covered with Wink of Stella shimmer.  I die cut the word from black and white card stock and stacked them.  The black alone got lost on the dark background, so I add the white behind it and it solved the problem.  I then added some Wink of Stella shimmer on it and topped it off with Glossy Accents.  A white gel pen created the stars (too many I think!).  Since the ghosts had stitched edges, I added the white stitching around the perimeter of the scene.

Just Us Girls #243 - Wild Card {Shaving Cream Technique}

Hi everyone!  It's Wild Card week over at Just Us Girls, which means the hostess gets to choose any type of challenge she chooses.  Sharyn is the hostess this week and she's chosen an oldie but a goodie...the shaving cream technique.  I have to admit that I've never done this technique before, and I groaned when I saw it.  I thought it was going to be a pain to do!  But I found it was a really cool technique and I loved the results!

I used two reinker colors in Tangerine Tango and Marigold Morning.  I love orange, so it was easy to choose the tangerine!  I just received this butterfly die set from Lil' Inkers, so after I did the shaving cream technique, I die cut the butterflies from the resulting paper.  I also added a little strip of the paper on the side of the white panel.  I love that stitched trail line of the butterfly too.  It's a separate die, so you could use it for anything that flies (I'm thinking bees!).  I added bling to the butterflies and the sentiment.

We are saying a fond farewell to our May Guest Designer, Barbara Campbell this week.  She's been a fabulous guest!

Stop by these blogs to see what the design team did with this technique!

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm off to the Santana/Rod Stewart concert tonight and my cabin tomorrow.  The weather is supposed to be in the 80s!  Finally!  Enjoy your weekend!
