Just Us Girls #706 - Photo or Mood Board Challenge

Hello everyone!  Carol is the hostess over at Just Us Girls for our Photo or Mood Board challenge.  I just love the photos she chose for the mood board!

I was cleaning my craft room today and found some things I haven't used yet.  This one is a stencil and die set from Pink Fresh.  I stenciled everything in the colors on the butterflies (although the aqua looks green even though the color is Aqua Sky).  I then die cut them.  The pink panel was stenciled with a snow fall stencil and white ink.  I adhered the ornaments and bough to the panel along with the die cut sentiment.  I added the gold pearls and some star dust stickles to the ornaments for sparkle.

Just Us Girls #702 - Photo or Mood Board Challenge

Hi friends!  Sorry my post is going up so late, but my computer crashed and burned and I was finally able to have the Geek Squad look at it.  Unfortunately, it died so I had to get a new one.  I lost a lot of stuff on there!  I can't figure out how to get my signature that I use at the end of my blogs to load.  Ugh!  Such a pain!

Anyway, I was able to load my card onto the JUGs blog and post it here.

I also don't have the software on this new computer to edit my photos.  So it's a little blurry looking at it here.  I used some new products from Waffle Flower.  I started with the stencils and used the colors from the photos.  After stenciling, I die cut it using the coordinating die and stamped the images using the coordinating stamp set.  Then I stamped the sentiment on black card stock with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I mounted the main panel onto a rust panel and onto the white base.  I did add some shimmer which you can't see in the photo but it's there!

Just Us Girls #697 - Mood Board or Photo Week

Hello all!  This week's Just Us Girls challenge is our Photo or Mood Board challenge.  Carol M. has chosen this fabulous fall mood board.  I love fall!

I loved that leaf in one of the pictures and tried to recreate it.  I sprayed a piece of card stock with three different colors of mica stains:  yellow, red and brown.  I think I have all of them but this is the first time using them.  They are so shimmery!  Once dry, I die cut the leaf from it and die cut it two more times and stacked them for dimension.  For the background, I used a leaf stencil and distress inks to get fall colors.  I wanted something on top of the leaf and chose this cute mouse in a bed of leaves from MFT.  I added the sentiment and pearls.

Just Us Girls #693 - Photo or Mood Board Challenge

Hello friends!  Bobby is the hostess over at Just Us Girls for this week's Photo or Mood Board Challenge.  I love the summery feel of this photo she chose.

I loved the starfish and the stripes in the photo, so I was contemplating a card with those aspects.  I didn't think I had a starfish, but I actually found one in my Crop & Create Cardmaking event box from this past March.  I haven't had a chance to make everything from that event yet but I've been going in there from time to time to make some of the cards.  There is so much in there!  Anyway, I found a set from Concord & 9th in the box and there was a starfish die in it!  The card made with this set also had blue stripes.  So I decided to make the card and enter it here.  Cathy Zielske was the teacher for this class and this card is her design. I did change out the sentiment.

I started by using a stencil with this Concord & 9th set to ink the stripes on two squares.  Then I used a square stencil to ink the sky backgrounds. I die cut them with a postage stamp die, also from the set.  Then I die cut the starfish, sailboat, life saver, and bridge from various card stocks and added them to the die cut postage stamps.  I used the stamps from the set to stamp them to look like actual postage stamps.  I die cut the wheat card stock with the large postage stamp die and added the smaller postage stamps and sentiment.  (I used the word "stamp" a lot here, huh?)

Just Us Girls #688 - Photo or Mood Board Challenge

Hi friends!  Our teammate Lisa is the hostess at Just Us Girls this week for the Photo or Mood Board Challenge.  I love the photos she has chosen...so many possibilities!

I chose to use the pink and raspberry colors in the photos as well as flowers.  I got this stencil and die set in the March Crop and Create event from Gina K Designs.  I started by die cutting the floral piece and then used the stencils to color it in.  I added some dots on the flowers with another stencil from Gina K.  I used a lighter green for the leaves then used a darker green on the base of the leaves for some dimension.  I stenciled a circle with pink ink to layer the floral piece on.  (To be honest, I wanted to use an oval but went with the circle because I was going to enter this in the Seize the BIRTHDAY challenge where they want you to use circles on your card.  My card is not a birthday card!  Ugh!)  I die cut the floral piece two more times for dimension and adhered it to the white piece and layered that onto a black mat.  I added pearls to the flower centers and shimmer to the little flowers.  I needed a card for a bridal shower and thought this sentiment from a Gina K stamp set was perfect.

Just Us Girls #684 - Photo or Mood Board Week

It's Photo or Mood Board Week at Just Us Girls.  Vicky has chosen this great photo of what I believe are cabana houses.  I love the colors!

I know I have, or had, a wood stamp with a row of houses but do you think I could find it?  No.  So I used this birdhouse die I recently got at my LSS.  I pulled the colors from the photo and I love the way it came together.  I did stack the red and blue parts to make them more dimensional.  I matted it with a kraft polka dot pattern paper to mimic the sand and die cut it with a stitched rectangle.  I added a pearl for the door handle and some extras around the house.  The sentiment is a preprinted one from SSS.  I also spritzed it with some shimmer spray.  I haven't used that product in a bit, but I love the look.

Just Us Girls #680 - Photo/Moodboard Week

Hello!  The challenge at Just Us Girls this week is our Photo/Moodboard challenge.  Bobby has chosen a few great photos for this challenge.

I chose the colors from the photos.  I pulled navy, orange, aqua, and red to create with.  I used this hexagon stencil set from Taylored Expressions.  This stencil set creates four backgrounds on one sheet.  I chose this background to use for this card.  After stenciling the four colors, I cut it out with a stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment and a hexagon in some of the stenciled hexagons with Versamark and embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I mounted that onto a navy card stock mat.

Just Us Girls #675 - Photo/Mood Board Week

This Moodboard for the Just Us Girls challenge this week was so appropriate for today because our weather was almost in the 80's.  Much needed warmth and sunshine here in Western New York!  Nancy is responsible for these beautiful photos and I had so many ideas for this challenge, it was hard to choose!

I settled on these garden tools from The Greetery.  I'd love to have pretty garden tools like these!  I die cut them (3 times for dimension) from white card stock and the handles from lavender card stock.  For the design on the spade, I first used the coordinating stencil then the coordinating stamp set.  The design on the hoe (?) just used the coordinating stamp set.  I noticed some script on the mood board, so I used a light gray ink and a script stamp for the background.  I layered that onto a lavender scalloped mat.  I added the preprinted sentiment strip and purple pearls to finish it as well as some shimmer on the flowers.

Just Us Girls #671 - Photo or Moodboard Challenge

The challenge at Just Us Girls this week is hosted by Elizabeth and she has chosen this amazing moodboard.  I absolutely love the lemons!

I was in the Amalfi Coast in Italy last April, and the lemons were abundant!  Everywhere you looked you saw lemon trees and lemon everything as far as souvenirs were concerned.  I of course came home with some (and I wanted to include them in my photo and forgot!).
Anyway, my card uses the Lemons and Blueberries set from Pink Fresh.  I started by adhering the coordinating washi tape onto some white cardstock.  The die then cut out all the pieces perfectly.  I only used the wreath and one of the lemon bouquets on my card.  I actually cut the wreath in half to make it bigger which allowed me to adhere the white sentiment strip across it.  I adhered the lemon bouquet on it as well.  The yellow gingham pattern paper was adhered to the base then I adhered the wreath and sentiment strip.  I added yellow crystals as well.

Just Us Girls #667 - Photo or Moodboard Week

Hi friends!  Just Us Girls has a new challenge this week that we are calling Photo or Moodboard Week.  You can see the Moodboard below that our hostess, Vicki, chose.

I looked at that moodboard and saw the yellow and purple colors as well as the several roses.  So I pulled out this rose set from Pink Fresh that has a stamp set, stencil set and die in the collection.  I started with the layering stencils (there are 5 of them) and used two colors for each of the roses and the leaves.  I then used the stamp to stamp the black outline and the die to cut it out.  I also die cut it two more times to stack for dimension.  Shimmer was added for some shine to the roses.  I used another stencil to ink up the plain background with yellow ink.  I stamped the sentiment and added crystals to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #663 - Photo/Mood Board Week

Hello friends!  This is our new challenge for this year at Just Us Girls...Photo or Mood Board.  We thought we'd kick up the photo week challenge by making a mood board for you to ponder.

I saw those daisies and book print when I looked at this mood board.  I pulled out this daisy set from Simon Says Stamp and stamped it onto white card stock.  I colored the petals with a blue violet copic marker to give it some color (my photos have been terrible lately...not sure why) and I colored the centers as much as I could with a yellow marker.  To pull in the book print, I used a word background stamp to stamp over the image with a light gray ink.  I love this look.  I finished it with a stacked die cut sentiment and some crystals.

Just Us Girls #660 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  I hope all my American friends had a very nice Thanksgiving Day.  We had a nice time with family, great food, and football (our Buffalo Bills pulled out a win)!

This is our last challenge for 2022 over at Just Us Girls.  We are taking December off and will be back in January with some exciting changes.  But this week is Photo Week and Carol has chosen this comfy looking photo.

I saw that painting of the deer over the fireplace and knew exactly what stamp I was going to use.  This is an older stamp set from Papertrey Ink that I cannot part with.  It's a multi-step stamp set and comes together so nicely.  I chose a fun polka dot pattern paper for the back and a pretty teal for the frame.  I stamped the sentiment and die cut it three times (as I did for the deer) for dimension.  I spritzed it with shimmer spray and added red pearls.

You can see more from our JUGs design team and our November guest, Karren Johnson, on the JUGs blog.  Thanks goes out to Karren for being such a great guest this month!

Have a wonderful holiday season and we will see you in January!

Just Us Girls #655 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  Cecile has chosen a beautiful photo for the current Just Us Girls Photo Week challenge.  It's really so her style!  I love it!

I saw that feathery thing and immediately thought of this wheat image I just got last week at my LSS.  It's from Penny Black and is red rubber, so I used my much unused Tombow markers to color it.  I started with a gold color on the entire image, then used medium and dark brown markers to add shading.  It's a 5x7 card because the image is so big, and it looked too white.  I pulled out another red rubber background stamp and stamped over the image with antique linen oxide ink.  I added the die sentiment, which was stacked three times for dimension, and brown crystals.  I also rounded the right corners for some extra interest.

Just Us Girls #647 - Photo Week

Hi friends!  Lisa E. is the hostess this week for the Photo Week challenge at Just Us Girls.  She chose this cute back to school photo.

I'm a retired teacher and have no children going back to school, so I chose to use the colors in the photo instead.  (Getting off topic here, but who loves to look at all the new school supplies every year in the stores?  Me, me, me!  I don't know what it is about new school supplies, but I just love them!)  Back to the card.  I'm in a fall mood and chose this wreath stencil to use with the colors in the photo.  I wanted the one leaf to look more red, but it looks brown-ish.  I did use yellow ink and red over it.  After stenciling, I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle.  Then I stamped and die cut the sentiment and die cut it two more times to stack for dimension.  The secondary sentiment was stamped below it.  I added crystal baubles for shimmer and mounted this panel on a teal card stock.  Can't wait for cooler fall weather (and Buffalo Bills football, which I'm watching now)!

Just Us Girls #642 - Photo Week

Hello friends!  Sue chose this fabulous photo for the Just Us Girls Photo Week Challenge.  Lots of inspiration to pull from!

I immediately thought of this stencil set from Pink Fresh.  The vines hanging down looked similar to the one in the photo.  This took me about 15 minutes to create which was great because my craft room is upstairs and I don't have a/c up there!  It was hot!  I chose three different shades of green and yellow and blue for the flowers.  After stenciling, I die cut the piece with a stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment.  I mounted it onto a green panel and added crystals.  Easy peasy!

Just Us Girls #638 - Photo Week

Hello everyone!  This week Vicki is our hostess at Just Us Girls, and she chose this cute summery photo.  It sure made me smile!

I went literal with this photo when creating my card, as you can see!  I was in search of pineapples in my stash of stamps and came upon this older set from Rina K.  It's a stamp/stencil/die set.  I first die cut the pineapple from white card stock and placed the die cut back into the negative space on my MISTI.  Then I stamped the yellow body of the pineapple and the green fronds.  Then I stenciled the green spots on it with the coordinating stencil.  I did this two more times.  Then I went in search of a set that had sunglasses and found one!  I had a die for them, so I die cut them six times and stacked them in twos for dimension.  The flower is from another stamp set.  I stamped it, colored it with copic markers, then die cut it and attached it to pineapple.  For the background, I first used a tan ink for the sand, and aqua for the water.  I did put a piece of post-it tape down before inking to create the horizon.  Then I used a cloud stencil for the sky.  The sentiment made me laugh, so I had to use it.  I drew in the birds and added crystals to finish it off.

Just Us Girls #634 - Photo Week

Hi everyone!  The Just Us Girls Photo Week challenge is hosted by Carol Mc. and she chose this lovely photo of bicycles with baskets of flowers.

I chose to use this old set from Papertrey Ink.  I liked the blue bike in the photo and went in that direction.  I die cut the main part of the bicycle and stamped the tires in black.  The frame part was stamped in blue and I used a black copic marker to color in the set.  The basket was stamped in brown and the flowers in yellow with green leaves.  I added crystals to the centers of the tires.  Then I had to decide how finish off the card.  I chose a scene card (I don't know why because it is my least favorite card design to create).  The tree and frame is a coverplate from Lawn Fawn.  I first die cut it from white card stock for the base then from brown for the tree.  I then die cut it from the yellow gingham and cut out the tree to get the frame.  The blue background is another pattern paper.  I die cut the grass and tree top from green card stock.  I added crystals and shimmer to the flowers and stamped the sentiment in black.

JUGS #625 - Photo Week

Hello everyone!  This week Bobby chose this beautiful spring photo for the Just Us Girls Photo Week challenge.  So much inspiration!

I had to choose the birds for my inspiration and chose this layering set from Altenew.  I used three shades of yellow and two shades of blue to complete the bird.  I stamped the branch in black and colored it with copic markers.  I tried a couple of different things for the background and settled on this embossing folder from Sizzix.  I used one of those flat brushes from Pink & Main to add color to the embossed parts.  I stamped the sentiment, added the bird (which was die cut two more times and layered for dimension), the tree, and some blue crystals.  I matted the main panel onto a blue panel before adding it to the base.  I also added shimmer to the dark blue parts on the bird.

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our March guest, JoAnn, on the JUGs blog.  This is JoAnn's last week with us and I'd like to thank her for creating such wonderful cards for our March challenges.
