Just Us Girls #694 - CAS Week

Hello friends!  The CAS Challenge over at Just Us Girls is brought to us by Sue this week.  She has chosen a BABY theme to go along with it.

I pulled out an oldie but a goody stamp set from Papertrey Ink for this challenge.  I started by masking off a section of the main panel and inked it with Kitsch Flamingo ink.  I used another oldie but goody embossing folder.  I haven't used this Swiss Dots folder in a long time.  Then I matched some pattern paper to it and stamped the elephant on it and fussy cut it (no dies with the older sets...ugh).  I also die cut the word die from the same pattern paper.  The secondary sentiment was stamped and die cut on white card stock and all three were adhered to the inked panel.  I matted the main panel on another piece of pattern paper and added crystals and shimmer spritz for that bit of sparkle.

You can see more from the JUGs design team and our August guest, Greta, on the JUGs blog.  This is Greta's last week with us and I'd like to thank her for joining us this month with her beautiful cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #170 - Adventurous

Hello!  The new Time Out challenge has us being ADVENTUROUS.

I had a little difficulty with this one.  I saw this Greetery stamp set on my desk and saw the Welcome Baby sentiment and thought well that's an adventure!  So I went with it.  This is a layering set with five different layers.  I started with the light pink balloon, then stamped the bright green leaves.  Next came the two flower layers then the darker green layer for the leaves.  The string was stamped in black and the sentiment in the cranberry color I used on the flowers.  The panel was die cut with a Greetery die, and that panel looked a bit bare.  I pulled out this large polka dot stencil, masked the balloon and stenciled the dots with the light pink ink.  Now I hope I know someone having a baby girl!

We are sponsored by Funky Fossil Designs for this challenge.

Just Us Girls #538 - Wild Card Week

Hi everyone!  This is the fifth Saturday of May which means Just Us Girls has an additional challenge which we call our Wild Card Week.  Our hostess, Sue, has chosen to use two or more different pattern papers on our cards.

A friend of mine just became a grandma, so I needed a baby card for her daughter, the new mom.  I used one of the new pattern papers from Waffle Flower in soft colors, focusing on blue because the new baby is a boy whom they named Ethan.  I pulled out this quilt die and die cut it from white, to use as the frame, and then blue, pink and a butter yellow color.  I backed the frame with a piece of white copy paper which was covered with adhesive.  I then inlaid the pieces to create a pleasing pattern.  The sentiment was die cut in the blue paper as well as twice from white cardstock and stacked together.  I added the quilt piece to craft foam and then to a blue base.  Sequins were added to the background and shimmer was applied to the word die.

You can see more from our JUGs design team and our May guest, Deborah Frings, on the JUGs blog.  This is Deborah's last week with us, and I'd like to thank her for joining us this month and for adding her lovely cards to our challenges.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time Out #140 - Home Sweet Home Challenge

Hi friends!  We have a new challenge at Time Out.  It's our Home Sweet Home challenge.  Use the photo to inspire your creation.

We are sponsored by Topflight Stamps and I used this cute Baby Bear & Friends stamp set.  I needed a new baby boy card, so this stamp set was perfect!  I was a little stumped trying to use the inspiration photo with this set, but then settled on the wood from the steering wheel (I looked up the proper name and it's the helm...who knew?) and the blue from the one candle.  I found pattern paper in similar wood for my background.  This was die cut with a stitched rectangle.  Then I stamped the bear and masked it so I could have him laying on the tree stump.  I colored him blue and the stump brown with copic markers.  The hearts have shimmer and glossy accents on them as does the bear's nose.  When I die cut the bear, I left it in the die and sponged some antique linen around it so it left a white margin around the stitched area.  I die cut another blue mat and mounted them together.  This was mounted on craft foam for some dimension.  The sentiment was die cut four times and stacked.  I added shimmer on this as well.

I used this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch too!

Baby, Baby, Baby

Hi friends!  I needed a baby girl card for a friend who is expecting right before Christmas.  I wanted to do some copic coloring, but that wasn't working for me last night.  Next choice was watercoloring a background.  I first embossed this gingham background stamp with white embossing powder on watercolor paper, then used some distress ink and watercolored over it.  I settled on just die cuts for the rest of the card.  It was getting late and I was running out of ideas! Each one is stacked with three layers of cardstock and shimmered with a spectrum noir pen.  The bow was done in the same manner.  I added sequins (of course!) and rounded the corners.

I should be making more Christmas cards!  I need quite a few and only have about five!  One will be posted on Thursday for the Time Out challenge.  Hope to see you then!

Thanks for stopping by!

Double the Joy!

I have a fun post today for two adorable new baby boys!  My fellow Time Out DT member, Bev from Uniko Studio, had twin boys about two weeks ago.  You can see pictures of them on Bev's post here

So to welcome them, the Time Out team of Sandie and Nonni put together a challenge over on the Time Out blog called Double the Joy which you can join in on!  The challenge will run from today until September 29 at which time a winner will be chosen from Random.com to win a 20 £ voucher to Uniko Studio.  Sounds fun, right?  So why not play along.

Here's my card.  I knew I was going to use PTI's Bitty Baby Blessings stamp set just for that sentiment.  It almost matches the name of the challenge!  I stamped the onesies on the houndstooth paper and ran it through my Xyron machine.  Then I colored them to match the paper.  I added mini silver pearls to the snaps of the onesies too.  They were mounted on a square piece of vintage cream cardstock.

I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch for my layout.

You can see more fun cards from the Time Out design team on the Time Out blog!  Don't forget to stop by Bev's baby post and leave some love as well!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pretty Palette #33

Hi everyone!  This is going to be a quick post!  I'm here with another Pretty Palette challenge from My Time Made Easy.  Here are this week's colors.
These colors were taken from the Chocolate Halloween digital paper pack.  I thought some of you may need to make another Halloween card and would want different colors to use.
I had to made a baby card and it turns out the gift I bought was in these colors!  I used the Bringing Back Baby digital stamp set for the buggy, and printed it off on the Chocolate Halloween paper so I could paper piece it.  Then I just colored the rest with copics.  The sentiment is from Tending the Garden stamp set.
I used this week's Pretty Pattern sketch from MTME and turned it on its side.

You can see more information on the MTME blog.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great Sunday!

Baby Shower Blog Hop

Please scroll down after this post to see my JUGS post!

Today we are having a virtual baby shower for our fellow Paper Makeup Stamps DT member Lisa McKinney. She is due with her second baby, another boy, any day now. So because we couldn't all get together to have an actual baby shower, this hop will have to do! If you've come from the marvelous Maria's blog, you are on the right track. If not, head on over to the PMS blog and start there.

For Lisa's card, I used one of the Paper Makeup Stamps baby Monster images that I just love. This is Baby Horatio. Isn't he so cute? I colored him with copic markers and swirled some apricot appeal ink around the background while it was still in the die. The dp is Animal Crackers by Making Memories. I added some blue ric-rac ribbon, buttons, star dust stickles, and a PTI sentiment.

I hope Lisa has a speedy delivery and a very happy, healthy baby! Congratulations, Lisa!

Now hop on over to Katie's blog to see what a great surprise she has for Lisa! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping in!

Little Bundle of Joy

One of the girls in my stamp club just had a baby last month before Christmas. I needed to send her a card and this is it! I started with this sketch challenge from Stamper's Dream. I made this card a 4.25" square to fit the sketch. These are nice small cards that fit into a regular invitation size envelope (an A-2 envelope). Just something a little different than the regular size.

The baby is a girl (did I even need to say that?), so I went for SU's Parisian Summer dp(soon to be retired). It matched up nicely with Pink Pirouette and Perfect Plum. The plum looks a lot darker in the picture than it actually is. I stamped this image from SU's Punches Three in Perfect Plum and added the little buttons. There are little stars there on the stamp, and it didn't look right on this card, so I used the buttons. The image is layered on Pink Pirouette which was cut and embossed with the Labels One nesties. I sponged some plum around it to make it pop off the dp more. It's also on dimensionals. Then I added the Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon. This was a last minute change because the card looked so bare without it. The sides of the plum panel were punched with a new Martha Stewart punch I got at my LSS last weekend. It's called Flourish Border punch. Isn't is cool? There's not much more going on with this card. Pretty simple. The inside sentiment is from a clear stamp set I got at JoAnn's called Simple Thoughts-Baby by Cloud 9 Design. That's all folks...thanks for stopping by!
Recipe
Stamps: Punches Three (SU), Simple Thoughts-Baby (Cloud 9 Design)
Paper: Pink pirouette, perfect plum, vanilla, Parisian Summer dp
Ink: Perfect plum
Accessories: Labels One nestabilities, MS flourish border punch, buttons, glue dots, wide oval punch, dimensionals, pretty in pink taffeta ribbon

It's Twins!

No, not for me! My girlfriend's daughter is having twins...a boy and a girl! This pregnancy was a surprise for her and her husband and an even bigger surprise when they found out it was twins! She already has two boys ages two and four. She will definitely have her hands full! So tomorrow, her best friend is having a small baby shower for her so she can load up on all the things she is going to need. All she wants is diapers! So that is what she's getting from me (along with some other necessities)!

I decided to use PTI's Bitty Baby Blessings because of the "double the love" sentiment. I stamped the images on some Making Memories Animal Crackers dp...one called Ella and the other Jack and cut them out. I stamped the little elephant and bunny on them and layered them on a piece of vanilla that I ran through the cuttlebug using the swiss dots folder. That was layered on a piece of pink pirouette and bashful blue. I used the scallop border punch on both layers and pierced the scallops. I was going to use a coodinating piece of dp for the top and bottom of the card, but I didn't like the way it looked. So, I used this new cuttlebug buttons folder. The sentiment was stamped on vanilla and cut out with the oval nestability and mounted on a piece of apricot appeal also cut with the nestability. The base of the card is also apricot appeal. I took the colors from today's Inspiration Challenge IC151 on SCS found here and this is the inspiration piece I chose. I added a bit more blue because I needed to represent the baby boy as well as the baby girl that this card is for! I'm happy with the outcome...I never know what I'm going to end up with when I'm creating these things! Here's the inside for you to look at and thanks for stopping by!

A Baby Shower

I went to a baby shower today for one of the girls in my stamp class. She has a seven year old boy and was happy to hear that she is having a girl after trying so hard to conceive another child. When I went shopping at Target for her gift, I saw baby items in pink and brown...I love pink and brown! I immediately had this card in mind! The sketch is this week's sketch challenge on SCS #198. I used pink pirouette for the base. The image was stamped on shimmer white and stamped in close to cocoa. I colored it in lightly with copic markers (I think RV00 and RV02). I also used close to cocoa and bella rose dp. I used the coluzzle for the half circle (the two largest cutting lines on the template). The image and scalloped piece were cut with nestabilities. The sentiments (inside and out) are from Bitty Baby Blessings (PTI) and the images are Buggies and Booties (retired SU) all stamped in close to cocoa. I love that velvet cocoa ribbon from SU also! The half pearls filled in the empty spaces at the top. I played around with different background for the pink base (PTI polka dots, linen and sanded bg stamps), but nothing looked right, so I left it plain and added the pearls.

Below is a picture of the gifts I purchased for Linda. You can see where I got my inspiration from. I stamped the bag with the same stork image in pink and brown, and punched a cocoa tag and a smaller bella tag, mounted them together and hung it on the bag. Linda really liked the gift (especially the super-soft blanket) and it was fun watching her open all the "girly" baby gifts! That's it for today...thanks for stopping by!
