Time Out #171 - Inspired by Words

 Hi friends!  The new Time Out challenge this time is our Inspired by Words challenge.  Love this one!

I'm not a coffee drinker like most people out there.  My parents loved coffee and there was always a pot brewing on the stove.  I'd much rather drink champagne!  LOL!  But I do love coffee mugs better than champagne glasses, so I chose to use this set from Stamplorations called Coffee Joy.  I'd love to own a mug like this.  I colored it with copic markers and went over the designs of the flower with a black thin line marker because the lines were a little faded after coloring it.  The center of the flower has shimmer on it.  I fussy cut it (I hate fussy cutting, but it was easy to cut out) and popped it up on the panel that I created with two different pattern papers.  That panel was die cut with a scallop die.  I added copper crystals to the background.

Top-Down Kind of Day

Hello there!  I just love this set from The Greetery, so much so that I purchased it twice!  Ugh!  I didn't realize I purchased it when it first came out.  When I saw the fall addition stamp set that recently came out, I had to have it!  I stamped and die cut the car and the pumpkins and colored them with the layering stamps.  It's just so cute!  I die cut a small rectangle that fit the sentiment and the car.  Then I went to work on the background.  The Greetery has a three-step stencil that I used to create this background with just two inks.  The aqua color was blended darker with one stencil and lighter with another.  Love how that came out!  I added sequins and shimmer, of course!

Just Us Girls #554 - Color Week

Hi friends!  Still navigating this new blogger!  I have always used Internet Explorer, but I've figured out it works better with Chrome.  So here we go.

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Carol has chosen these lovely colors:  green, pink and blue.  

When I think of these colors, I think of flowers.  So I chose to use a floral turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th.  This is a two-step turnabout stamp set.  The first step is to stamp those tiny flowers and dots twice (instead of four times as usual).  I did this in blue and green inks.  Then the flowers and leaves are separate stamps that you stamp in the openings.  I chose to use two different shades of pink for the flowers and two for the leaves.  The sentiment strips coordinate with the set and I die cut them from blue cardstock.  I added them to the panel (which was die cut with a scallop die) and I notice they are not very straight!  Lastly, I added crystals for that sparkle I love.

 Hello!  My mother-in-law asked me to make a special card for her.  She knows a young man from her church that is becoming a priest, and she is going to his ordination.  She gave me a good amount of time ahead of the occasion to make this card, and I used that time to ponder how to create this card.  I pulled out all the crosses I have and settled on this one.  This set is from The Greetery and is intended as an Easter set.  I die cut the cross from white cardstock then impressed it with a woodgrain plate.  I sponged antique linen distress oxide ink on it.  I stamped the palm leaves on the panel and layered the cross and other floral and leaf images on it.  The sentiment was die cut three times and adhered together.  I added shimmer to the flowers, cross, and sentiment.  I also added crystals for more shimmer.  I don't know if you can see it, but I stenciled the cross on the envelope and stamped some flowers and leaves on it as well.  This is a little larger than an A2 size card.

Just Us Girls #533 - Trend Week

Hello friends!  The new challenge at Just Us Girls is a good one.  Nancy chose for us to cut our cards into thirds for this Trend Challenge.

 

I was organizing all my stamps the other day and came across this one I've never used.  I thought it would be cool to just emboss it in gold onto a blended background.  I started with that background.  I recently saw Kristina Werner creating blended backgrounds with the new Crackling Campfire oxide ink with various other inks.  I chose to use it with Dusty Concord and Aged Mahogany that she suggested.  I love how it came out!  After blending them together, I heat set it so I could stamp it with Versamark and heat emboss it with antique gold embossing powder.  I did the same with the sentiment.  (There's a defect I noticed on the leaves in the top portion of the image.)  After that, I die cut it first with a stitched rectangle then I cut it into thirds.  I took off about a 1/4" from each piece so there would be a space in between each piece.  I mounted the three pieces onto a black panel with craft foam for some dimension.  Gold sequins were added for some sparkle.

Time Out #170 - Adventurous

Hello!  The new Time Out challenge has us being ADVENTUROUS.

 

I had a little difficulty with this one.  I saw this Greetery stamp set on my desk and saw the Welcome Baby sentiment and thought well that's an adventure!  So I went with it.  This is a layering set with five different layers.  I started with the light pink balloon, then stamped the bright green leaves.  Next came the two flower layers then the darker green layer for the leaves.  The string was stamped in black and the sentiment in the cranberry color I used on the flowers.  The panel was die cut with a Greetery die, and that panel looked a bit bare.  I pulled out this large polka dot stencil, masked the balloon and stenciled the dots with the light pink ink.  Now I hope I know someone having a baby girl!

Just Us Girls #552 - Word Week

Hello everyone!  It's Word Week over at Just Us Girls and Sue chose LEAVES.

 

I was so happy to see this as our word for this week's challenge because I had a good reason to use this great die from Honey Bee Stamps.  I did a technique with distress oxide inks and watercolor paper that I haven't done in a while.  The only thing I did "wrong" was I did this technique on my glass media mat instead of on my non-stick mat.  When you add water to the ink on the glass mat it doesn't give you the same look (it becomes too fluid).  But it came out ok anyway.  I smooshed some green and yellow oxide inks on the mat and spritzed it with water then dragged the watercolor paper through it.  I heat set it then dabbed the paper in the ink again to get more layers.  I did this two or three more times to get the look I wanted.  I die cut the detailed layer from the watercolor paper and the base layer from green cardstock and adhered them together.  The main panel was stencil with a tiny dots stencil and yellow ink.  I really wanted this to be a birthday card (because I need them!), but I couldn't find a sentiment to fit in that space and settled on this one.  It works for me!  I finished the card by spritzing the leaves with shimmer and adding the crystals.
