I am in charge of my mother-in-law's Mother's Day gift each year. I try to think ahead and plan something special and over the years, that's gotten difficult.
This year I had thought it would be neat to do a family photo since it's been many years since that has happened so that was my plan.
Trying to coordinate 7 different families' schedules, plus the photographer's is a challenge but I was up for it.
I made the phone call to the photographer, Craig Obrist, who did Kristina's wedding photos, and got a couple of dates and I sent those out the the family to see if that was doable. After some back & forth emails, we scheduled the photo shoot for Sunday, April 14th.
Done.
Almost.
I got an email from one sister-in-law letting me know her husband was actually going to be in Cuba so he wouldn't be there. As much as I hated him being gone, we had to move forward and keep that date since everyone else was able to be there.
April 14th arrived with clouds and a high chance of rain. Craig called and it just wasn't going to work so we rescheduled for the following Sunday and that made it possible for the in-laws to also be there. We're talking 24 people!
We arranged to have the photo done at Sope Creek in Marietta and hiked in to the ruins by the river. I had no idea that Craig was going to take individual photos of each family and photoshop it together. A modern miracle! Who can get 24 people looking at him, smiling and standing still? No one.
We had a 2 hour photo session and got each family's photo done and the rest of the time was open to any other photos.
The photos turned out great and we were all pleased with the experience.
It was truly a festivus miracle!

Amazing!
We took advantage of the extra time and had a few photos taken as well.
I see why we don't do family photos very often...too much work!
