Long Weekend in Amelia

Todd had lined up some visits with some customers in the Jacksonville & Orlando areas so we decided to join him and stayed at the beach house w/the "other" Weinrebs. This is the first time that we had Abby invite a little friend to go with her. Abby is getting to the point where she needs a playmate. Not that Sam isn't fun to be with but it's not the same.

This is Kristina, she's my babysitter during the summer and it was so great to have her help with the kids. I'll be so sad when she graduates college and starts working as a nurse. Where are her priorities?!

Sam at Main Beach

Ellie jumping into the pool

Abby lounging around

Grandma & Grandpa have a little pond in the front yard that is full of tadpoles and tiny frogs. The girls loved playing catch & release.

Kabuki is one of our favorite places to go. I've really matured and have started eating some sushi and sashimi. The kids had fun.

Not sure who is the adult in this photo!

Thanks to Kristina, the adults had a dinner out. We went to 29 South and had the best meal! Love the pork chops & Krispie Kreme bread pudding.

The girls loved boogey boarding.

Abby & Carly

Abby nearly hit this tortoise while riding her bike down the lane.

Carly wasn't too excited about holding the tortoise but gotta get a photo!

We had a great visit with our cousins and enjoyed a little weekend away. Too bad we have to wait a whole month before we can go again for an entire week.

Life's tough!

Thanks to my in-laws for opening their beautiful beach house for us to enjoy!

Half-Pint

Like many of you, I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie. I loved that show. My niece Sydney is staying with us this week and she is going to Camp Broadway at the Fox Theater and she got some tickets to go see Little House on the Prairie, the musical....starring non-other than Melissa Gilbert, the original half-pint.

Memories!!

We went to Mary Macs Tea Room for dinner...a famous Atlanta eatery.

Greetings from the Fox Man

Illegal photo op.

I was a little uncertain about watching a musical rendition of a childhood favorite but I enjoyed the show and the girls had fun. I now want to get the original episodes so that Abby can watch them and hopefully love them too.

Who doesn't love Charles, Caroline, Mary, Laura and Carrie Ingalls?

Ok, maybe Nellie, but everyone else loves them!

Canine Idol

I made a post about Newman last month but wanted to share one more talent that she posses...she is a fabulous singer. We are hoping to get her some gigs around town in the near future. If you are looking for a singer for your work party, Christmas party or Bar Mitzvah please feel free to contact Newman.

Pine Mountain, Georgia Weekend

Last weekend we ventured off into the wild with Todd's family. Uncle Bernie & Aunt Elaine flew in from Chicago, Larry, Lisa, Ava, Ellie, the 4 of us, Sydney & Josh all met down in Pine Mountain, Ga. for a weekend of "roughing it."

Our cabin in the woods

Todd & Abby at Butts Mill (now who thought up that tacky name?) riding the trails

Sam showing Uncle Bernie how to use the new iPad

The Wild Animal Safari-pretty much sitting in a very old van with no windows, no AC and tons of animals coming up to eat food out of your hand. A bit slobbery but kind of fun.

Bathing Beauties

Our visit to FDR's Little White House

It was a fun weekend!

Thursday's adventure

On my morning walk with my neighbor Jane, the decision was made that we would try and go to Sweetwater Creek State Park to try out the canoes. We got to the park around 9:30, paid our $5, put on our life jackets, picked up our padded seats & oars and headed to the water. The only problem is that neither one of us are too proficient at canoeing and we couldn't even get the canoes out of the rack. Luckily, some guys were mowing the lawns and helped us get the canoes and helped us in. We are still not certain if they were state prisoners doing work in the area. Oh well, they were super nice to help us.

sidebar: when you sign the wavier to go canoeing, it states that all persons must be considered a swimmer. 1 out of 3 in our canoe was not too bad. Sam & I are NOT swimmers! I know Abby would have done her best to save us.

I'm sure we looked pretty funny, two women with two kids in each canoe and neither one of us had experience but we sure had fun. It was overcast and there was a nice breeze. The kids got bored after about 45 minutes but it was lovely.

We then headed over to where the ducks were hanging out. We went through 8 hotdog buns pretty quick. Abby started hand feeding the nicer foul...oops, I mean fowl.

We then drove over to the other side of the park and went on our usual hike, up to the old textile mill.

(Jane, Lewis, Abby, Sam, Theo & me)

We spent nearly an hour near the river and they loved throwing rocks. The water was moving very fast and was very high.

The boys walking the trail

The end!

We did manage to do a "mushroom hunt" along the way and found A LOT of cool shrooms but didn't want to bore anyone with lots of photos of fungi.
