quiet (but busy)

It has been quiet here on my blog.
That happens sometimes
(especially after my busy Pinktober month !!!)
But I can say that I wasn't idling my days away !
(although I did a lot of reading)

There was another "(Un)perfect 10 gram" meeting at the end of November
We had to work in black
and the motto was "facing black"
with a bit of sparkle, or lights.
I must say I have no problems with that colour
(I'm often wearing it)

Like always we had a fun meeting
with lots of inventive products.
I made a black "Möbius" ring
but still have to make a little video to see it best.

In November we also had a new Stitch Club workshop that I took part in : stitching on metal
but
I only did a try out on paper
(and skipped the metal in the end)

Then I was busy making our Xmas/New Year cards for this year.

COLOUR AND GLITTER !
(and I made some presents BUT those are still a secret !)

Then, after we had a fun party celebrating the Dutch "Sint Nicolaas",
I could start with a brand new Stitch Club workshop
by Tina Marais

Because my hands are not in the best shape at the moment
I wanted to make something small first.
(so I had 8 cm to work on instead of the suggested 40 !)
The imagined "seed pod" I made from (poly) felt
and some plastic beads.

But this left me wanting more   :-)
and I took the original idea, though still working "micro" !

One down, one to go

When the "further development" came for something wearable
(which I did already . . .)
my choice went to
felt
(and my own design)

Nearly finished

And with lots of seed beads stitched on I have now a lovely set that goes together

Happy !
Thanks Tina Marais for the inspiration !

day 18

An early bird this time
:-)
(that leaves a bit of time to do some more felting !)

For this jewel
I just started by making a BIG textile bead,
and after that the rest of the idea emerged.

On a background of "Hobbs" I start with all kinds of snippets of fabric.
Then comes the fun part of random stitching
with my wonderful shiny polyester/rayon threads with different machine stitches.
After rolling it around a skewer and stitching it tight
I finish the holes at the side with matching coloured thread.
Done !

Here is my PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 18 :

a wet felted half circle with a long textile bead and on an adjustable homemade cord,
stitched on both sides with silk and silver thread,
and many seed beads.
(6 x 8cm,    2.4 x 3.15")

For a donation
of (at least)

 € 15

this marvelous piece of night sky
can be yours !
It would also make a wonderful present for a dear friend
(wife, sister, mother, daughter etc. )
You just need to send me an email at
  fiberrainbow@gmail.com
or say that you want to have it in the comments below.

day 31 . . . the end

Today is the end of this month,
the end of my PINK  RIBBON Challenge
of making a Textile Jewel every day for sale,
to collect money
that can be used for more research
into better treatment methods and aftercare
for breast cancer patients.

Too many women (and also men!)
get the diagnosis that turns their lives
(and that of their family and friends)
upside down>
So help is needed.

I hope we did help :
me, by taking the time and creativity
to make a Textile Jewel every day,
and you, my dear customers,
by buying them so eagerly !

A  BIG  THANK  YOU  FOR  THAT  !

My last  PINK RIBBON  Textile Jewel for day 31 :

a wet felted pendant, wearable on both sides, on a long textile bead
with a nuno-felted silk moon,
stitched with silk and silver thread,
and many beads,
on a wire necklace (46 cm  ,  18.1")
(7 x 5 cm)

For a donation of at least

  € 15,-

 SOLD  !

this last day's Jewel can be yours!
You can wear it yourself,
or give it as a present to a much loved person.
You just need to
(yes,  I know you know by now)
send me an email at
  fiberrainbow@gmail.com
(or say so in the comments under this post)
and all will be arranged !
(Paypal is possible and easy
but mind the postage)

ALL the money goes to the Pink Ribbon Fund !

(also a blue moon on this day !)

  "SPACE"

The end of the garden

the fantastic Gingko biloba

Though this was the last day's Jewel
there are still three
which have apparently been overlooked
day  13
day  22
day  28
Please don't forget them !

(Day 17, 23 and 24 have already been snatched up
and will go to London soon !)

so lucky ... !

Reaching for the stars ...
why not ?

Twenty years ago this very day,
I had a major operation
after being diagnosed with breast cancer
on Friday the 13th
(no, I'm NOT superstitious, but I remember
that day very well, when my world came tumbling down)

It took me a while to get things back on track,
before I even trusted to reach for the stars.

It all worked out well
and I'm happy to be still here,
and I now know you have to reach for the stars
(at least try !)

Just busy, busy, busy
with more little paintings :

it is such FUN

small market

This Sunday afternoon (14.00 - 17.00)
daughter and I will be going
to a small market in the big barn
of a lovely old farmhouse :
Goidschalxoordsedijk 65
in Oud-Beijerland
("under the rainbow")

We hope that the weather will not be as cold as predicted,
but there will be a joyful fire burning outside
with warm drinks.

We have been busy making
"starry" lights in white and gray felt
(with safe LED candles of course)

There are simple stars
with printed tea bags felted inside
and stitched along the edge

And then there is the choir
of little angels
that has grown since last week !

(three more little ladies are waiting for hair and wings)

Today gave as already a foretaste
of what might be coming this weekend :

But we hope on a bit of sunshine too,
just like today !

star choir ...

Ohhhhh ... November was so slow ...
As could be predicted
after the busy "Pink Ribbon-month" October.

Yes, there was felting,
even a LOT of felting
but it went on very quietly :
after the mushrooms and the gnomes
there were stars

BIG stars, when you compare them to the gnomes, ha !
These two were the first ...
but there are many more now
(because there is a market in a week's time)
For safety reasons they will be equipped with LED lights.

Now, there is slowly growing an angel's choir.

There will be more !
A lot of different voices
make great harmony

quiet ... quiet ... quiet

Yes it's quiet here,
the year walks quietly to its end.
We had lovely family days
and the rest was really quiet.

Just mending a bit
(not for me)
...
and knitting
(the zigzag pattern)
...
and making some more stars
(for the tree)

The jeans of daughter that were lying around for quite some time :
busy mending at last !

the beginning

the outside                   ...         and using pliers !!!

inside
(with some extra cotton fabric for strength)
*

Because the zigzag scarf pattern was so much fun
(using up all the sock yarn leftovers)
I thought I should make some socks
to go with the scarf
:-)

Now two socks on one circular needle

Nearly there !!!

!

I coloured some more wooden stars

such fun to do !

Some more for the tree ...

(which will be outside again soon !)
