Boppy's 70th Birthday

Most of us gathered together this morning for breakfast for dad's 70th birthday.  We had sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy.  Afterward we sang the following birthday song (to the tune of "Today While the Sun Shines") and then dad opened gifts.

Today is your birthday, it comes once a year.
As family and friends we wish you good cheer!
We bring lots of presents, a big party too.
Happy Birthday Dear Boppy, Happy Happy to you!

Today, today, is your birthday.
Today, today, make a wish if you may!
Today, today, as Boppy would say:
Today is your birthday. Oh da do dah day!

Happy 70th BOPPY!!  We love you.

Lake Havasu 2012

Rylan had a baseball tournament in Lake Havasu the first part of December.
The village next to the London Bridge was all lit up,
and the kids got to see Santa.

Rylan pitched a perfect game (no hits and no walks)

He hit 5 for 5 in the two games he played,
including a double and a home run.

9u Bomb Squad next to the London Bridge.
They finished the tournament in 3rd place.
We stayed in the London Bridge Resort and
this was the view from our window.
This water slide was at our hotel pool.

Solomon Family News

To answer the never ending question of “How’s the house coming?”: Everything is closed in and we’ve been working on the inside. Electrical is done and the wood stove is in, so we are warm and have lights! Ned is finishing up plumbing, then we’ll finish insulating over top of the spray foam insulation we already sprayed. Milo is currently working on installing corrugated metal on the ceilings and a brick project in the entryway. We have our wood flooring down in the basement and wood coming for our walls. SO as we chip away at everything, we’ll maybe be in around February. We will definitely be in by summer, so feel free to come up and stay. FREE ROOM AND BOARD, RAFTING TRIPS AND HORSEBACK RIDING!!!

In October, Andre went to Baltimore with the West Point Russian Club and attended a Russian festival. There were six cadets who attended (all Russian majors).  The cadets ended up being brought up on stage to dance with the performers.  Andre had a blast!  Snick is going to try to post a video... stay tuned!

The following photos are from when Andre came home for Thanksgiving.  He went to five different schools in Montana and gave a presentation as a recruiter for West Point.  He answered questions and gave information about the school.

Josh and Carissa Swarm

For those of you who were not aware, I have been dating Josh Swarm. We met through mutual friends and have been dating for quite awhile (our first date was September 2011). This last Monday, we got married. I had one of my old bishops perform the ceremony and Cameron was our witness. I am very happy to have found such a great guy and am really excited for everyone to meet him! He also just got baptized today. He had a couple of close friends from school and guys he works with come. It was a really good service and I am excited to not only have him in my life, but to have him a member of the Church and our family.

Kissing in the Church building after we got married.

Cameron has known Josh for awhile now from all the times Cam came over to my apartment to eat and Josh was there too. They got to know each other so well that Josh convinced Cameron to go to North Carolina for the summer to sell home automation/security for Vivint with him. Every since, they have acted as brothers, but now they actually get to be brothers!

We got a chocolate cake from Smiths. We figured instead of having to freeze a piece of it and eat it a year later, we can just get the same cake from Smiths and eat a fresh one. We aren't making very attractive faces though. lol

December 1st 2012.
These pictures are from Josh's baptism today. The guys on the left are some of the guys Josh works with. The two guys on the right are guys he has gone to school with. And then there is Cam.

Cameron, me, and Josh!  :)

The End of the Hostess Era

Friday, November 16, 2012
After Hostess announced today that they are going out of business, the "Awesome Threesome" (Deb, Snick & Cam) decided to be silly and go on a Friday night Hostess run. We ransacked several locations including drug stores, grocery stores and gas stations but the stores had already been looted and we couldn't find a single Twinkie or box of raspberry-filled Hostess O's!  We did, however, score some other Hostess goods at a gas station that just opened up today.  At our final stop, we told an employee of our plight and he snuck us into the back to search crates for one final box of the beloved raspberry-filled delights, but to no avail (so instead we got a couple cartons of 50% off egg nog and decided to call it quits).

Nary a Twinkie to be found!
