Welcome to the March eTeam Picks challenge. The eTeam Picks Challenge is all about inspiration and having fun!
During each challenge one of the eTeam
members will share a topic, word, technique, sketch, or product that will become
the foundation for your creation.
This
challenge is all about mixing it up and just enjoying the creative process...
anything goes!
We want to see your work
and hear about your inspiration.
All of
those who play along with our challenge will be entered into a prize drawing for
a $15.00 gift certificate to the eclectic Paperie store. It's Bonnie Irvine here today, hosting this particular challenge. I'd like you to add something
corrugated to your project, whether it's corrugated cardstock or cardboard from a box...whatever and however you want to get it in there.
I chose to alter some small wooden houses that a friend made for me years ago. The tallest house is 3" tall and the widest one is 3.5" wide.
I stripped the top layer off cardboard from a recycled box and use the exposed corrugated layers for the roofs of my four houses. On one house, I used corrugated paper to make the windows. Each house was covered with paper from either Graphic 45's A Ladies' Diary or Authentique's Peaceful Collection. The papers and "roofing"were glued on and trimmed with a craft knife. Each roof was hit here and there with Black Soot and Vintage Photo Distress Stains as well as a little white gesso spread with my finger. Each chimney was colourized with Distress markers (Black Soot, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick). All edges of the houses were rubbed with Faber-Castell Big Brush pens in either brown or black to frame them.

Next came the part I love the most: decorating and individualizing each house. The first house had white gesso applied through TCW's Mini Punchinella stencil to create a random circle pattern. Doodling was done on all sides and a script stamp was applied with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Bits of washi tape were glued onto all sides. A rusted tin heart, an ace of spades and a hand charm were all adhered to the house walls.
To complete this house, an Idea-ology clock key was adhered to the corrugated roof.
The second house was doodled in black and then stamped with a stamp from Tim Holtz's Flights of Fancy set using Brilliance Archival Graphite Black ink. I used Archival ink because I wasn't sure what I would be adding over the stamping and I didn't want bleeding and smears. The front of the house has a computer generated word (Home) peeking through the window of an Idea-ology label pull.
Two of Wendy Vecchi's Blossom Bucket stars were used for the end windows. I love these little embellies!
House #3 used punchinella and gesso to create the circles on all sides. The plants at the bottom were applied with Stampotique's Swirl Stalks stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Washi tape was glued on (otherwise it will lift eventually) and doodling was done with a Sepia Micron pen. An Idea-ology gear was adhered to the peak to mimic gingerbread trim. A small red office sticker was colourized with Antique Linen Distress ink and adhered to the front with a lock charm over it.
The side bunting was created using a burlap thread and the points cut off of shiny stars from my stash.
The fourth house looks the most elaborate. Scraps from Lily Bee's Persnickety paper collection were adhered to the top and bottom of the front. Doodling was added to the top piece and a checkerboard stamp was added to the green at the bottom. A piece of the same green paper was adhered behind the Idea-ology keyhole "door". Two black triangle buttons threaded with floss formed the windows. The flowers are metal snaps alcohol inked with Caramel and given scrap stems.
The sides and back were stencilled with white gesso over the Dylusions Chequered Dots stencil and doodled around to make the pattern stand out. The corrugated windows are snippets of cardstock. The photo corners came from my stash.
I had an absolute blast playing with these little houses. They will sit in my hall on top of an old wooden washboard. I can't wait to see what you create when you play along with this corrugated challenge. Wait until you see what some of the other DT members have come up with for their makes. You can visit their blogs by clicking on their linky thumbnails below.
Here are a few reminders if you decide to play along:
-
You do not have to use products sold in the eP
store…but we do love it when you do.
- Share a direct link to your creation, not just
your blog, using the Linky Tools feature at the end of this post. If, for any
reason, the Linky Tools doesn’t cooperate, please add a link in the Comments
section of the blog.
- When uploading to any online galleries, please
use any of the following keywords; eP, eclectic Paperie or eTeam Pick
Challenge. Link your creations to the eP blog.
- If you’d like to be considered as one of our
featured projects and be entered into our prize drawing, please be sure to add
your link no later than 6pm EST on Thursday, April 5.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. We always appreciate your visits.
Bonnie
