And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Christmas Magic

 believe_2012oct19

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’ve got a card for you today using some gorgeous Authentique papecalled Festive, and it is indeed festive :)

This card's overall layout is almost CAS--just layered up die cut elements, for which you could use any dies or cut files you might have. Just mix up the layers to see what pleases you and go to town!
I used several patterns from the collection for my base card and the sentiment element. Since this paper is so vintage in appearance, I also sponged the edges with my Antique Linen Distress Ink and my Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool, and popped up all the layers with Scotch Foam Mounting Tape.
Short and sweet today—thank you so much for stopping by!

Make Art Love

wendyhop_2012oct30

Hi, everyone, Barbara here with a little project I did for the recent Make Art Blog Hop here at eclectic Paperie. I was giddy with excitement when I received the Wendy Vecchi - Studio 490 - Art Parts Hearts Love & Stars to play work with. You might have figured out that I love to alter stuff for home décor items so this was right up my alley! When thinking about what I was going to do, Valentine’s Day came immediately to mind, since there were hearts and LOVE involved. But I didn’t want to do Valentine’s Day. I thought about Christmas. Almost did something with that. But, in the end, I decided to do something that I can use year ‘round in my home—it will hang on a cup rack under a shelf on my newly painted yellow dining room wall. We don’t have to have an occasion for LOVE, right? It’s there all the time and *I* love how this little wall hanging expresses that constantly—every time I look at it. I’m simply in love with it :)

OK, I started by covering my larger heart with Kraft corrugated paper. To do that, I simply applied my adhesive to the heart and slapped it down on the back side of the paper. Then I trimmed around the heart with a craft knife and sanded the edges with my Idea-ology Sanding Grip Block

Next, using my Adirondack Paint Dabber – Aqua, I put a coat of paint just on the tops of the corrugation so I’d have some contrast. Then I went around the edges with my Adirondack Paint Dabber – Pool. Just a little darker shade for more contrast, then I sponged the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and my Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool. Here’s a closer look at that.

You can also see that I used some bling—LOVE vintage/distress mated with bling. Love. It. This is a Prima Doodle Deux Swirl and I used the whole thing ;-) I cut it up in pieces and sorta just filled in where I needed pieces to cover the large heart.

On to the smaller heart. I covered it in the same manner as I did the large heart, but this time I used
Echo Park - For the Record (Documented) paper. I sanded the edges and sponged them with distress ink, as well. Before I adhered it to the larger heart, I tied around some vintaged-up seam binding, embellished with one of these  Maya Road Trinket Pins - Vintage Pearl.

Then I adhered the small heart with hot glue and went about embellishing it. I painted the LOVE sentiment with a Adirondack Paint Dabber – Pitch Black and popped it up on
Scotch Foam Mounting Tape, cut into little strips. I didn’t take a picture of it, but here’s a little hint: if your foam will show, color it with a marker to make it blend in to either the background or the popped up element. In this case, I colored the visible edges of the foam with a black Copic marker.

I finished my project off with a die-cut flower and a wire handle—perfectly embellished with a button from the Buttons Galore and More Ice Collection

A Jolly Halloween

Hey, there, everyone! I’m here today with a darling little treat box that is just as easy to do as it is CUTE! This project uses Graphic 45’s Happy Haunting and I do believe it’s one of my favorite Halloween papers ever. It has such pretty colors and adorable images.
OK, now, this project is super simple and no stamping! But I just love how it turned out. I was in a craft store several weeks ago and spied these paper mache' coffin boxes so I picked one up. It was only $1 so didn’t have much to lose, but, you know, you never know, right? ;-) So, suddenly it occurred to me that my gorgeous Happy Haunting paper would really work well to cover this box PLUS make a matching tag. Voila! Instant giftie!

First, I painted the whole thing with black craft paint. Then I used some paper with a fence design around the sides and a clock at each end, and a starry sky pattern for the top. I did lots of distressing with my Tim Holtz
Idea-ology Sanding Grip Block and then distressed the sanded edges and corners with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Then I made a tag with more patterned paper, tied a ribbon around, tied on the tag with some twine and a button from the Ice collection, and it was done!

Who knew a coffin could be so cute! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wish Big

wishbig_2012sep13

Hi, all, Barbara  here and I have a sorta CAS card for you today. It was super easy to make—always a plus when you’re rushed for time. I’m using some awesome neutral patterned paper from Echo Park’s So Happy Together—this wood grain pattern is a great backdrop for lots of things. Then I adhered some strips of THIS Washi tape from My Mind’s eye. It looks kinda purplish on my monitor but it’s very pink IRL :) Then I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added a strip of Graphic 45 Trim Staples crocheted lace with some sweet ribbon woven through and tied in a bow, adhered with my awesome Dot N’ Go – Mini Glue Dots.

And that is pretty much it! As I said, simple and easy :) Thank so much for stopping by!

Stamps:
Big Greetings (MFT)
Paper:
Sweet Tooth card stock, Black Licorice card stock; So Happy Together (Echo Park)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Just a Note

Hi, everyone! Barbara here with a sweet little card for you today. This card is using some gorgeous papers—Basic Grey’s Plumeria. I chose a neutral pattern for my background and I’m not sure if you can tell or not (click on the photo for a closer view), but after I stitched the background paper to my dark gray layer, I sanded the edges with my Idea-ology Sanding Grip Block loaded with Idea-ology Sanding Grip Refill. I use this little gadget all the time—love it for distressing edges as well as for smoothing rough card stock edges. After I sanded, I sponged the edges with my Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool and Antique Linen Distress Ink

I then added some colorful die cut strips, adhering them with some Dot N’ Go -  Mini Glue Dots, then I added a sentiment stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and popped up on Scotch Foam Mounting Tape. Finally, I made a flower using a brad from Plumeria – Mixed Brads for the center.

And that's it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check back in tomorrow when my girl Broni will, I'm sure, have something to WOW you!

Thinking Of You

Hi, everyone, Barbara here with a card for your today. Sadly, I recently needed a sympathy card and this is what I came up with. For my card base I'm using some of my favorite patterned papers, Lost & Found Two – Rosy by MME. I stitched around my base card and then sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and my Inkssentials Foam Blending Tool. Then I stamped the typewriter image and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and popped it up on foam tape. I added some twine, a button, and some sweet Kaiser Craft self adhesive black rhinestones

OK, that's it for me today. Hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend!

Best Friends

Hi, everyone! Barbara here with a CAS card for you today. First of all, let me echo Kim when I say how fabulous all the eTeam projects were on re-launch day! OMGoodness, what inspiration! I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing what these talented ladies come up with in the future--how about you? And, I want to thank Kim for including me on this amazing team as she starts this exciting journey.

So, on to my card. I'm using this  gorgeous Maya Road Vintage Linen Burlap Rose that doesn't need much of a supporting cast to make a great card. I love a black/white/Kraft/pop-of-color palette so that's what I went with. I didn't want the flower to get lost in the crowd, so I simply die cut the frame from neutral patterned paper, popped it up on Scotch Foam Mounting Tape, added some twine and die cut leaves, and stamped the sentiment. Super simple but that flower makes a BIG impact and steals the show, don’t you think? OK, I'm done with the show biz references now :)

And that's it for me today--thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check back tomorrow to see what the uber talented Broni has for us. I can't wait to see it--it's sure to amaze!
