snippets

i have been a bad blogger, and a bad blogger friend lately - sorry.
but here is a quick rundown

  • started at children's hospital this week for my "exploratory experience" [refuse to refer to myself as an 'M3' student yet, even if they changed my email already]
  • decided that above mentioned hospital really, seriously needs to change their parking situation so that i don't need to get there 30min early to catch the shuttle bus to get from the parking lot to the main entrance....
  • working on a research project that is quickly becoming a really big pain in the ass
  • planning my mom's wedding shower for the end of the month
  • trying to get my "muffin top" in shape - but i am tired, not unmotivated, just tired. ugh.
  • enjoying the sunshine - lots. july is probably my favorite month of the whole year b/c its so stinking hot and sunny, if i could live in the pool - on a raft - and still accomplish everything i needed to, that would be fabulous
  • reading books. as in for pleasure. not something i get to do often, but i do enjoy it. right now i have a fondness for Jennifer Weiner. I plan on getting Stephanie Klein's new book soon as well as a few others. [any suggestions?]
  • having fun with the hubs!
  • fixing holes my little sister makes in the garage floor.....
  • trying to decide the next steps in our babymaking process - as in using vitamins, preseed, charting etc. [i realize it's "only" been 8 months, and that it takes an 'average' couple 6-12m to conceive - which was pointed out to me last month - thanks for the unnecessary knowledge boost that i really didn't need or want from you. or probably anyone. but damn, it doesn't hurt to try what's worked for others!]
  • trying to keep my house clean and clothes washed..... unsuccessfully usually!!

so i think that covers the basics.... hopefully i will come up with a routine here soon and be around a little more

relief

.... just got my offical grade for the year - passed!!

I wasn't worried - but it's nice to see it in writing - makes it official, ya know?

now I all I need to do is pass this test in a month and I will be *this much* closer to this dream (reality?!) of mine..... [back to the studying]

where's andrea?

next year it'll be like a game to see which hospital i am at, for which service and for how long! (for you and me....)

we had our "auction" yesterday - it was nothing less than interesting - but for those of you that care, and those that don't - i am posting this anyway.

  • 8/11-10/17/08 - Internal Medicine - Summa (Akron City)
  • 10/20-12/19/08 - Surgery - Mercy Medical Center
  • 1/12-2/20/09 - Psychiatry - AGMC/St. Thomas
  • 2/23-4/3/09 - Family Practice - Barberton
  • 4/27-6/12/09 - Pediatrics - Akron Children's
  • 6/15-7/31/09 - OB/GYN - AGMC

So there you have it, it's not exactly what I wanted, but it's almost perfect so I'm not gonna complain! and it's all close to home.

now... lets pass step 1 (since i am no longer stressing about the academic year) and this schedule will be officially active..... - and GO!

3 months from today

i will be sitting for 8 hours staring at a computer wracking my brain of all the medical knowledge i have learned over the past 2 (er...3) years.
that's right folks.... it's the first true test of my professional medical career - part one (of three) of my licensing test.

i'm already scared to death - but trying not to think about it at the same time. after all, it only helps to determine what residency i get into if/when i pass (got that... i have to pass first....) 2 wks after this ominious test is over - i will be a THIRD year medical student, able to practice medicine under the supervision of others for the next two years until others will be practicing under my supervision - who's excited? who want's to be my guinea pig? don't worry, i will tell you where i'll be and when so you know what hospital not to visit... ;)

ugh! the stress!

but since it's spring break this week... i am trying to break. i have like 3 projects to work on during the "break" - none of which are very much interesting, all of which are at least almost complete. so - i should work on that.

just thought i would lament a minute on my impending dome... and brain overload!
