November 30 - December 6, 2015

This was a crazy week. I went in for a mammogram on Tuesday, was at school from 7 AM to 10 PM on Wednesday, and I've been picking up and driving a friend whose car broke down, so that has added an extra 10 minutes onto my commute every day. To make things worse, I had a call back from the hospital after my mammogram saying that they need me to come back for a closer look. Plus all the students at my school are acting like hyper bunnies because it's that awkward three weeks between Christmas and Thanksgiving. So....I've tried to dress nicer just to make up for the craziness.

November 9 - 15, 2015

Once again I have been as busy as a person could possibly be and still be a person. Teaching seven classes of 32-36 students is hard work.

October 5 - 11, 2015

This was another busy week. The weather here has been so beautiful that I've just been trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

August 31-September 6, 2015

Well, I made it through the third week of school. I've been a little tired, partly because my room was so cold, and I think it was a little draining on me to be in there. I finally got the temperature adjusted on Thursday. It had been about 66 degrees every day, but I got the janitor to push it up to 72 degrees, which feels pretty good. I'm a much happier camper. I'd worn a button-up with a wool sweater on Thursday, and I actually got a little warm by the end of the day. This is a long weekend, and it is much needed for me to get back into equilibrium.

August 18 - 23, 2015

Now that I'm working full time! and not just in shorts and a tee shirt, I'm back to posting. Here's what went down the first week of school.

May 18 - 24, 2015

Well, it's now official. After two interviews and an teaching observation, I was just offered a full time English teaching job at Mountain Ridge Junior High. I really wanted the job, and they had me sweating bullets for two days wondering if they liked me. Apparently they liked me a lot -- when I called them back, the vice principal said that I blew the competition away. Booyah! It was stressful, as they wanted to come and observe me teach on one of the last days of school -- everyone else in the building was having a party. My students were less than thrilled to be having a lesson instead, but it worked out well.

May 4 - 10, 2015

I didn't post a Sunday outfit because, if I'm being honest, going to a Mormon church on Mother's Day is not going to happen for me. I just can't handle the guilt trip. I will enjoy visiting the BHW's mom later today. Happy Mother's Day to all.

February 16-22, 2015

This has been a fun fashion week for me. Our weather has been crazy warm for February (I'm talking 70 degrees!), but it took a turn for normal Friday night, February 20th, just in time for my brother's band's outdoor rock concert. Hence the mittens and gloves. I wore the casual maxi skirt look for the PFLAG/Affirmation meeting at my house, but I might have needed to ditch the jacket -- it got rather hot in here with 30+ people.

February 1-9, 2015

The outfit with all the tops was what I wore on the plane and packed to go on a four day trip to Arizona. I wore the jeans, jacket, red sweater, blue sneakers, and jewelry on the plane and brought the three other sweaters and the skirt to change into. I got all this plus my makeup bag, toiletry bag, underwear/pajamas, an iPad mini, Kindle, wallet and cellphone in a large red purse because that was all that I could take on the plane for free. It was very minimalist packing; but it worked very well. I even had enough room to bring a gift for my mom!

It's Friday!! Today just felt like a corduroy day; there is a change in the weather that might mean snow or rain leading to a bit of dreariness. I felt like the pattern play in this outfit fought back against the doldrums. (And everything blue looks smashing right now with that blue streak in my hair!)

Today was the UCTE conference. I couldn't sleep all night -- unfortunately fairly normal for me for a big event. I had decided to wear the outfit to the right. I wanted to look professional but also look fun and be comfortable. I find Hue tights to be very comfortable as long as I avoid the control top ones. This Anthropologie skirt is extremely comfortable as well. I added a linen sweater from Talbots in the kelly green color and went with minimal jewelry and a small bag to just hold my iPad mini, iPhone and other little essentials like lip gloss. My painted black Børn oxfords are some of the most comfortable shoes I own, and the black tights with them gave me the long leg line to let me wear them.
Of course, as a presenter, I brought a huge black tote filled with my Mac and other needed items like 75 packets to give out, but I was able to stash it in the room I was going to present in, thank goodness. It weighed a ton.
Anyway, I felt fun and fabulous presenting, and I even got applause when I was done. I got a lot of good ideas from the conference -- the keynote speaker had a lot of good ideas for using iPads in the classroom -- I'll have to remember those to use with my new iPad minis.
On the down side, I am still suffering from some kind of bugaboo that leaves me feeling weak and nauseated at times and gives me a headache. I haven't had my flu shot yet, but this doesn't really feel like the flu. I had a few times at the conference when I felt downright ill, but I managed to work through it.

This is not the most inspired outfit ever, but I haven't felt very well for the past couple of days, and this was about all I could manage. My magenta hoodie is a sweater, but it is exactly that color. I sweetened up the outfit with pearly bling.

I think blue might just be the most versatile color. Is there anything it doesn't look good with? I mean, it's classic with red, smashing with orange, cool with purple, perfect with green, and even awesome with yellow. Blue and black is a striking combo, and blue and white is porcelain perfect.
Well, the reason I'm waxing on so about blue is that I so so so SO love these cobalt blue jeans. I love the way they look and fit -- it's just pure love. Today I was copying a look I recently found online. Instead of the pumps, I went with my classic oxfords that I painted black this summer.
True story: today one of my students asked me how old I was. I told them that I was fifty, and he said that I looked more like I was thirty. Ha. I told him it was good jeans. (Get, it? It's a pun.) Ha.

Well, today I am emulating this outfit from The Classy Cubicle. I decided that since I have this sweater, I may as well wear it. I don't have the full skirt she has.
As is the case with many J. Crew sweaters, this was a pilly mess after wearing it.
This little bracelet I got for free from Banana Republic by combining a rewards with my birthday coupon. I am rather enamored of it. The sad thing was that I had to look long and hard at Banana Republic to find anything I wanted even for free. That store is pretty monochromatic and dreary right now.

Today I went with a lace skirt and my linen whale tippi. It was Monday. Enough said.

Today seemed like a good day to go with polka dots. This polka dot linen shirt is such a divine shade of blue. I added a bubble necklace in white and some sandals I refashioned from brown to blue.
