It seems like I've been getting a lot of free clothes lately. I got a coupon from Christopher and Banks to get $15 dollars off any purchase, and this layering tee was 14.99, making it just 65 cents. I really like the bright orange color, but I added the tweed jacket and khakis to tone it down a bit.
Today I'm trying yet another look with this new stripe shirt I got for free from Talbots. The thin stripe of persimmon lends this whole shirt a bit of a coral vibe, even though the red is really pretty red. I thought I try it with this skirt and jacket today, and I rather liked how it turned out. Unfortunately, the jacket was a nightmare with this skirt, because the jacket has little hooks and eyes, and they kept catching on the lace in the skirt. Wear and learn!
I am trying to branch out a little here and try this jacket with something I've never tried it with before. This tweed actually has a lot of the burgundy color in it, so I wore it with my burgundy cords and added a chambray shirt as a neutral. I thought this turned out very well.
Today I wore a favorite imperial paisley shirt from last year's Talbots. This honestly looked better on me than it does in this photo. Today was the first day I tried the Hollywood Fashion Tape I bought recently to use instead of pins to keep my button-ups from gaping. I'm happy to report that it worked like a charm.
Today was Valentine's Day, so I couldn't help but post the lovely two dozen roses I received from my sweetie, the BHW. I wore pearls and lace just to be romantic.
Way back in May 2012, I saw this post on Polyvore, and I was in love. A few days later, I saw this jacket on eBay for $15, and I bit on it. I hadn't tried it yet this year, but decided to trot it out with my green jeans (that are the same color as the skirt--my camera is washing everything out right now. I LOVED this outfit -- it felt so spunky.
Today I wore all green in honor of the faculty party. The hit of the day was really this blingy little necklace I made at the last minutes out of a lizard pin and an old string of pearls. I must have had at least twenty people comment on it.
Today I thought I would wear this red floral skirt. I actually bought this quite a while ago, but I hadn't worn it yet and was luckily able to exchange it for a size down. I got this tee last year, and it looked pretty good with it (now my hair--augh!). Anyway, I actually wore it with the eyelet jacket to the right over it for most of the day at UCAS because it is so cold there. I spent a lot of time looking for just the perfect white jacket for me -- bodice fully lined, but lightly in cotton, so no ugly seams or interfacings to hang out, 3/4 length sleeves, cute pockets, jean jacket styling without the heavy jean material, but rather a light eyelet material, and even slightly fitted. I think it's practically perfect for summer use.
This jacket is another new acquisition from Ebay. Chicos sold this jacket last year or the year before for $150 dollars. It was on their TV commercial, and everyone wanted it. The problem was that they advertised it as pink, when it is actually peach toned. I think it got a lot of returns because of that. Even so, it is a drop dead gorgeous jacket, and when I saw it for $9.99 plus $6 shipping, I couldn't resist. It went beautifully with my peach toned silk flower tank and a ton of pearls.
This is the hot little number I wore to go to Noises Off at the Shakespeare Festival while we were in Cedar City. This photo doesn't do it justice, as it is cute as ever on. I brought a fancy red clutch I got from Chicos to go with the red shoes. I do wear hose with this dress--smoke colored. (The belt here is actually a blingy Chicos necklace I got for ten dollars. It has a slide cord in the back and works great as a belt.)
