Remember When......

Own up, who stole summer? It left us here on Monday afternoon and it's been winter woollies and central heating weather ever since! So glad I didn't put the summer quilt on the bed last week.
I managed a productive evening in the craft room last night and made 3 DT cards plus this one which is for a card swap.

The decoupage and backing paper are from Joanna Sheen's Faye Whittaker Collection CD. I've had this CD for several months now and I think this is the first time I've used it (bows head in shame!). This image reminds me of our first beach holiday in Swanage, Dorset the summer I was 11. The first week we spent all day every day on the beach and this was the first time we'd seen a Punch & Judy show so we watched it umpteen times.
I've used dark blue stardream card for matting the backing paper and image on. Card is finished with a bow (made from recycled ribbon I've had for ages) and a Marianne Design button die tied with baker's twine.
I've decorated inside to match.

Good morning! It's another beautiful day here in Scotland, hope you're enjoying good weather in your part of the world.

I'm delighted to have been asked to Guest Design for Lexis Creations. The theme this time is "For the man/boy in your life".

This layout features my younger son when he was about 5 years old, he was always very photogenic and such a cute wee blondie! I've created my layout in My Memories Suite and used papers from a kit called "Oh Boy", the Boys Cluster Frame is from LLL Creations and the slug and snail embellishments are from Marie H Designs "Chasing Bugs" kit.

Please pop over to the challenge blog to see the creations of the regular design team and I do hope you can join us this challenge.

Bang, Crash............

luckily I wasn't standing there to receive the wallop!!!

This happened about half an hour ago, luckily no one or thing was damaged except the wall off which it had fallen. Earlier today hubby managed to flood the place from our shower (luckily again nothing crafty was damaged) so I now need the ceiling and  the wall repaired grrr - it was the only room in the house that was finished!! Better go and break something now for number three!!

Apart from this it's been a gorgeous day. The forecast was for it to be much cooler but in fact it's been the warmest day this weekend so I spent it sitting in the garden reading a book under the sunshade :)
Luckily I've got ahead with my DT work as I can see my crafting time is going to be severely limited this week and I've a pile of Father's Day cards to make for eldest to raise more money for his trip to Mongolia - it's less than 7 weeks until he goes now - think I'm heading for panic mode!!!

Aud Sentiments #55 - Any Sentiment

A big hello to all the new DT girls here at Aud Sentiments and a sad farewell to those going on to pastures new.
Our next challenge over at Aud Sentiments is Any Sentiment, so a free rein here but do please remember your sentiment! We're being sponsored by DTSArt, who supplied images for the DT to work with. I've used fairy-pari-berry for my card.

I digitally pieced the image using a range of papers from Crafty Ann's, then printed the image several times and decoupaged it and mounted it onto a scalloped circle nestie cut from felt. I won a pile of felt last year and this is the first time I've got round to die cutting it! The paper is from Raspberry Road and was a magazine freebie. Flowers are die cut from felt again using a Marianne Designs die and I've added buttons to the centres. The Honeysuckle Vine die is from Memory Box. Card is finished with some pearls.
The green base layer is cut from a piece in my bit box from which I'd already cut an oval die, I managed to squeeze the vine from it too before I matted the backing paper onto it!!

Do pop over to the challenge blog to see my team mates take on this challenge, you won't be disappointed.

Challenges entered:

Tempting Turquoise

A warm welcome to all my new followers, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your visits here.

It's Hubby's birthday today, I finally made it into the craft room about 10pm last night to make his card! Have to say it was a very quick card using a topper from Kraftyhands but hey a labour of love is wasted on him! You'll see the results later.
Today's share is a sneak peak of the new scrap kit winging it's way to Crafty Ann's digi shop today (hopefully).

Called Tempting Turquoise it's choc full of papers and elements......so full Ann had to do an add on kit to take the overspill. I've combined the kit with papers and elements from the Cream Dream and Sweet Sage kits to make this layout in My Memories Suite. All Ann's kits work well together and if you haven't visited the shop lately you ought to pop in and see them for yourself. The kits are ideal for both scrapping and card making and will size up to 12 x 12 no problem. The star of the show this time is my brother - not quite as sullen as last week's layout lol.

Creative Scrappers - sketch #209

Faerie Poppet

A very good morning to you all, I hope you've had a good weekend. After several days of not making any cards I finally made it into the craft room over the weekend and did some creating. I posted a Christmas card yesterday and have two DT cards to show later this week. Today's share is the card I've made  for the little girl next door who's one today.

I've used a gorgeous Faerie Poppets decoupage from Crafter's Companion simply mounted onto a white pearlised card mat which I've punched with a Martha Stewart PATP and added lace and ribbon to the bottom. The bow was made on my bowdabra and is finished with a button from Crafty Ribbons. Base card is an 8 x 8 lilac pearlised card. The sentiments are computer generated and pearl hearts are from my stash. I've deliberately left the card quite plain to let the image take centre stage.
And some side views to show the dimension on the decoupage.

Challenges entered:
Bunny Zoes - anything goes
Crafter's Companion - here comes summer
Crafty Calender - things with wings

Christmas Card Club - apertures

Well I think summer has popped by to say hello today, it's still a tad chilly but it's gloriously sunny. We've spent the afternoon walking the dog around one of the local country parks which was like a quagmire after all the rain we've had!
Another fortnight has been and gone and it was Zoe's turn to choose the theme for the challenge at the Christmas Card Club and she wants to see an aperture. Now I'm not really an aperture sort of person so I've cut mine out of a scalloped circle to create a frame for my image.

The image is from an old Kanban set and is bordered with a purple foil which I didn't want to see. I lined up the two largest scalloped circles and cut a frame which fitted perfectly. The backing paper is from My Mind's Eye and was a magazine freebie. Card is simply finished with some binders twine and a sentiment.
If you'd like to see the cards the other girls have made you'll find the list on my side bar.

Challenges entered:
52 Card Throwdown - nativity scene
CHNC - touch of the blues
Oh La La Creations - ribbon or twine

Smile please, errm pretty please

Good morning all. Well my MRI scan went okay yesterday - we got held up in traffic en-route but luckily I arrived at the unit just as they finished with the patient in front of me. The worst bit was trying to get a needle in to inject the dye I have to have for the second half of the scan. I just don't have any visible veins so we had two failed attempts in my arms before they finally managed to get in through the back of my hand! Luckily I'm not squeamish about needles! I had to endure 35 minutes inside the scanner but I've learned to close my eyes and just switch off. Hopefully I'll get good news in about two weeks and that will be me for another year.
Another layout from me today, this time a double page of photos taken the same day as the one of me yesterday.

This is me and my brother, he obviously wasn't in a good mood that day lol. The pictures were taken by a photographer who used to come around the houses once a year or so. I've done the layouts in My Memories Suite using a kit called Victorian Dream from LLL Creations. I then exported the two pages and imported them into Craft Artist to make a double page layout.

Challenges entered:
Willow Sketchie - sketch/ 3 different papers

Smile!

Good morning all. Don't know where this week has gone but I don't seem to have achieved very much! The house is still upside down and my kitchen is now being repaired where some of the plaster was cracking...........one day we'll be finished I'm sure!!
Got to go for an MRI scan this afternoon, not looking forward to it in the least as they have to inject me with dye and no one can ever find a vein! I should have been in Feb/March but somehow got missed and my GP has had to chase the surgeon to have me seen.
I've not made any cards this week but I have done some digital scrapping.

This one was produced in My Memories Suite using a kit called "Atta Girl" and features me as the star (roundabout 50 years ago lol). Hark at the wallpaper!!

Crafting for all Seasons #27 Celebration with buttons and a Blog Hop

Our theme this fortnight is “It’s a Celebration” with buttons.
As it’s our FIRST BIRTHDAY at CFAS we’re having a blog hop to celebrate.  The hop begins and ends on the challenge blog. If you’ve arrived from Carly's blog you’re on the right track, if you’re just popping by to say hello you may want to pop over to the challenge to join in the whole hop.
At each blog you’ll find a letter, once you’ve collected them all leave a comment on the challenge post telling us which word the letters spell. You must leave a comment on each blog as you hop and one commenter on each of the blogs will win a prize, my prize is some ribbons and papers.

We're being sponsored by Meljens and The Digi Garden. I've opted to not to use a sponsor image this time.

I was asked to make some 1st birthday invites for the little girl next door and this is what I came up with. Using a kit from Nitwits called Bear Necessities I prepared the invite digitally in Publisher and printed onto  digital postcards (from Craftwork Cards) then reprinted the label and teddy and decoupaged the front of the invite.

I've used one of the invites and added some buttons, a heart and a made with love label to the bag I used for packaging the invites.
Close ups of the front and the back of the invite.

Do pop over to the challenge blog to see the what my team mates have created, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Here is your letter N, now it’s time to pop over to Dawn's blog to carry on the hop.
If you get lost along the way you'll find a full list for the hop on the challenge post. Enjoy!

Crafting When We Can #18 Steampunk

It's time for a new challenge at CWWC and this time the theme is Steampunk. We're being sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs and the DT were given images to use. I've used Steam punk Josephine.

Now I have to admit to not being into either steampunk or sassy images so this was a tough one. I ended up doing this digitally in Publisher using Crafty Ann's Rhapsody in Blue kit for both the backing papers and elements. The image is digitally pieced using papers from the same kit.  I haven't printed this yet as my printer was playing up - it may get used for hubby later this month if I don't get round to do anything else!

Do pop over to the challenge blog to see the creations of my team mates.

Crafty Ann's #65 Hide and Seek

It's time for another challenge at Crafty Ann's and this time the theme is Hide and Seek - we'd like to see something hidden on your project (eg journalling).

I've done a hybrid layout this time using one of the pages from an album I made featuring a Christmas spent in Dubai a few years ago. The main layout has been created in My Memories Suite using papers from Ann's Traditional Christmas Kit available from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop and some elements from MMS.  I've printed this out 8x8 and matted onto white card. The base is 12x12 green textured mirri card matted with some paper from Papermania forming a pocket to hold some of our holiday memorabilia. Layout is finished with some tartan ribbon and a Santa suit from my stash.

Hidden feature.

I've attached the top layer with a brad and a velcro fastener.

Sorry for the quality of the above photos, here's the original digi layout which is much clearer.

Do pop over to the challenge blog to see Ann and the teams creations, you won't be disappointed.

Challenges entered:
One Stop Craft - celebrations
Paper Pretties - use ribbon
Sparkles Forum - Christmas tree

Hello

Good afternoon! What an awful day, it's absolutely tipping it down here and looks set to last the rest of the day.
Sorry for the lack of posting and commenting just now. I've had a busy week with visitors and furniture shifting!  My nephew and his intended came on Monday to talk Wedding invitations so I've been having a play with some samples. I had a friend for lunch yesterday so enjoyed a nice gossipy afternoon over a bottle of wine......not conducive to crafting in the evening!! We're having the lounge re-carpeted tomorrow so have spent today decanting all the furniture etc to elsewhere in the house. Upstairs is still also a work in progress so everywhere is upside down!! Grrrr, I've had a DT project on my desk since Sunday waiting to be coloured and stuck together, I hope I can make it in there tonight.
On a different note Gary (my eldest) had his Mongol Rally team featured in the local rag today - click here if you want to see the article!
Hope to catch up with you all soon.
