Add a butterfly

Tilda is stamped with memento and coloured with promarkers, then mounted onto a doiley and CD. Paper is from Wild Rose Studios Butterfly collection. Card is finished with a ribbon and bow, button and some bling.
Challenges I'm entering:
Just Magnolia - buttons, bows and bling
DYSU - make it pop
Paper play - use something not intended for crafting (CD)
CCEE - add a butterfly
Aud Sentiments - Happy Mothers Day
The Emerald Fairies - Anything goes

Grrrr just made some changes to the card and changed the photo - realised the brown spots on Tildas face is the silicon gel showing through - will wait until morning to see what it looks like then, but looks like I'll have to redo the image. Knew I shouldn't have bought a different make!! All fixed now with some paper piecing :)

LIM - thank you

Had a lovely trip to the Sincerely Yours craft show at Edinburgh today and picked up a few new goodies as you do lol. When I saw this Siberian Husky stamp I had to have it and I wasn't long home before it was inked up for the first time. This is my card:
Stamp is from the Stamp Barn and was inked with Versafine ink. Sentiment is from a large box off QVC and obviously isn't stuck on the wooden block straight!! Card is finished with some ribbon and embossing. (I could probably have done with checked, striped or spotted ribbon here but there was none in my collection!!)
Challenges I'm entering:
LIM - thank you/congratulations

Noel

Well I thoroughly enjoyed my day in front of the TV, the bride looked radiant and her dress was stunning. The Royal family all looked so happy and relaxed and seemed to make the Middletons very welcome and at ease. Loved Prince Harry's running commentary to William as Catherine walked up the aisle and him and Pippa certainly made a handsome pair as they followed the newly weds down the aisle. One of those days when you feel proud to be British!
Made a quick card tonight:
Used this Penny Black stamp again, coloured with promarkers. Image is matted and layered on red and gold mirri card then mounted on foam pads and positioned slightly off centre. Red ribbon has been pleated to the right of the topper.
Challenges I'm entering:
I love Promarkers - no designer paper
Bah! Humbug! - pleats and ruffles
Jingle Belles - no designer papers
Stamp Something - something with wings

Good morning

Well this is my 100th post and I'm pleased it's a "happy" post. I am thrilled to have been asked to join the Design Team over at Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog and am delighted to accept the offer. Please pop over to see Ann's challenges for yourself and join in. Ann also sells a lovely range of digi stamps and backing papers which can be viewed here. I'm looking forward to working with the rest of the CACB team and I'll be sharing my first DT card here with you next week.
More good news - I made the Top Three with this card in the H for Hotspot challenge at ABC Christmas
As this technique was very new to me I'm thrilled my card was choosen.
Also got a mention over at Jingle Belles for this re-used/recycled card which took me back to my roots of cardmaking (before my credit card melted):
Now I've got a wedding to get ready for, catch you all later.

Birthday Wishes

My school friends and I are all the big 50 this year so I needed a special card for next month. I used a new LOTV stamp and this gorgeous Prima Fairy Flora backing paper. I've used a lovely rainbow effect thread to stitch around the backing paper. The image is coloured with promarkers and highlighted with a gelly roll pen. Card is finished with some lace, ribbon, pearls and a button.
Challenges I'm entering:
Sketch and Stamp - birthday (used sketch)
Simon says Stamp - anything goes
Creative Inspirations - pink, yellow and green
Shelleys Image Blog - buttons, brads or bows - use at least 2 (used a bow and a button)
Stamptacular Sunday - pile it on

Paper piecing

Well thats the kids back to school/college again at least for three days! The sun is shining but it's pretty darned chilly so don't think I'll be sitting out today.
Well onto craft and another new technique (to me anyway!!) for me to try....
Apologies the colours haven't come out too great on the photo. I made this last night but couldn't find the right embellishments to finish it off so I decided to get my crochet hook out and make my own. Now its years since I last held a crochet hook in my hand and I wasn't sure whether I would remember what to do with it............however it was like riding a bike and the stitches just flowed..........one small problem though - I couldn't see where I was going and had to resort to my strong reading glasses to see what I was doing!!
Backing papers are from Bearly Mine (also used to "piece" Tilda's dungarees), seam binding from WOC, ribbon flower from Crafty Bits and Pieces, flourish is a creatable die from Marianne Designs, button, pearls, ribbon and rafia lace from my stash, sentiment from Kanban.
Challenges entered:
Just Magnolia - sketch
Cutie Sunday - points (spots?)
Stamptacular Sunday - pile it on
Totally Tilda - paper piecing
Saturday Challenge - pink, brown and cream
Magnolia Mania - pink and....

Quick Christmas card

Again I used an image and backing paper from my bit box (they are from one of Joanna Sheens Christmas CDs probably Enchanted Christmas). I have followed the sketch at Christmas Card Challenges. Card is finished with some adhesive ribbon and a Crafty Bitz star.
Carol x

Butterflies

Spent a lovely afternoon relaxing in the sunshine in the garden with my pile of craft magazines - it felt so good after years of owning and running holiday parks to be at home on a Bank Holiday - retirement = bliss.
Made a couple of quickie cards from my bit box this evening, the first for the CD Sunday challenge of butterflies.
Both the image and the backing paper came from Joanna Sheens Jayne Netley Mayhew CD. I have layered up the butterflies to give them some dimension and highlighted the wings with a Sakura stardust gelly roll pen. Card is finished with a knotted ribbon and some pearls.

A Happy Easter

to you all. I hope the sun is shining where you are, this is the first we've seen of it since Monday so I'm going to make the most of it.
My morning has started well with my first ever Top Three award from Winter Wonderland for this card:

The Ribbon Girls are also giving away loads of Bakers Twine as blog candy so pop over and have a go.

Enjoy your day.

Crafting for all Seasons Design Team

What an evening it has been............first I get an email from Dawn saying I have been choosen for the CFAS design team then the phone rings and it's a good friend to say she lost her mother earlier today. To say my emotions were all over the place is an understatement!

I'm thrilled to have been choosen and hope I can do the job justice. This will be a first for me so I'm a little nervous but a big excited lol Do pop over and see whats happening, challenges will be every other Wednesday starting on the 18th May with an "Anything Goes".

Fancy Fold

A simple easel card - I tried a twisted easel but it didn't work with this image. The image is from Crafty Ann and the backing paper is from Joanna Sheens Heavenly Cards CD, I've printed everything on pearlescent paper. Green matt  is Anna Griffin card and I've use a PATP punch from Martha Stewart. Card is finished with a sentiment used as the brake.
Challenge entered:
Crafty Ann - fancy fold

And now I'm going to have a quiet evening in front of the TV with a bag of craft magazines I have been gifted.

Combining Easter and Christmas

Use yellow and/or ovals on a Christmas card is the challenge at CHNC this week. This is the nearest to yellow card I had suitable for stamping on. The stamp is from a box off QVC and had been stamped in versamark and embossed in gold embossing powder. Used nesties for my ovals. Card is finished with a sentiment and two yellow star gems.

Carol x

Recycled Christmas

This takes me back to my roots of cardmaking - I started off making Christmas cards one January from the recycled parts of the Christmas cards which were too good to bin!! This charming little fella started life as a gift tag, the sentiment tag I think came off a gift set and the bow and baubles came off a cracker. The BP and mirri card were from my bit box.
Challenges entered:
Jingle Belles - recycle/reuse
Sparkles Forum - ribbons and gems

Carol x

PS and I got a mention lol - here

Hotspot

This was a completely new technique to me but it looked interesting:
The idea is to stamp an image twice and cut a circle from the second image which you colour in and layer over the first image. I struggled to find two circle dies suitable for this image and hence you can just see the red matt peaking out behind the hotspot. The stamp is from Penny Black and the hotspot is coloured with promarkers. The BP is a freebie from Pam on the JS forum.
Challenges entered:
ABC Christmas - H is for hotspot

Productive Day

Got up early (for me anyway!) this morning as I had groceries scheduled for delivery between 9 and 11am - a phone call at 9.30am told me they were running late so decided to make an early start in the craftroom. I've managed five in total albeit little ones. This is the first:

I needed a baby boy card and this is my favourite stamp from Stampendous (I have a matching one for a baby girl), stamped with versamark and embossed with blue embossing powder. I'm not sure where the sentiment stamp is from but it was given the same treatment. Card is finished with a blue bow.
Challenges entered:
LIM - off centre
Simon Says Stamp - emboss it

Carol x

One for the bit box!!!

You decide lol!!!
This started as a "great idea" but I didn't think it worked so pulled it apart and changed the topper but I still don't like it - let me know what you think (honestly lol).
This is the original card which showed Custard eating the flowers from the lovely garden (Joanna Sheens Cottage Garden CD)
This is the second version:

I've used a PATP matt again for this card and the backing papers are from Papercraft 4 You. The bottom matting paper had the black border so I matted the other papers onto some black stardream from my bit box. Both stamps are from Sugar Nellie and have been coloured with promarkers. The card is finsihed with some buttons, a pearly bow tie, ribbon and I've highlighted the dotty paper with a Sakura gelly roll pen to add sparkle.
The challenges this card was made for are:
The Sugar Bowl - Sketch and buttons
Stamp Something - Recipe of flowers, buttons and sparkle
Creative Inspirations - Pets/Animals

Remember ladies I want you to be brutally honest with me!!

Christmas Silhouette

This image was a left over from another challenge (from Joanna Sheens Dancing with Shadows CD) and is printed on acetate and matted onto white stardream card which has been punched with a snowflake border punch. The matching BP is also from the CD. Card has been finished with silver peel offs and the punched out snowflakes - does anyone else collect the punched out bits!!!
I'm entering the following challenges:
Winter Wonderland - Silhouette
Bah! Humbug! - Santa Claus

My Easter Wish

A very Happy and peaceful Easter to you all, hope you get lots of yummy choccy. It's been a funny sort of day here as it's not officially a Bank Holiday in Scotland - got my housework finished, washing and ironing all done, made a pan of soup, roasted a gammon joint, did an online shop to arrive in the morning and then retired to the craft room! We haven't had any hot weather here either since Monday so I'm feeling a bit miffed :(
I don't usually do Easter cards but I had a shuftie through Joanna Sheens Heavenly Cards CD today and found this image. Don't know what she's serving up but I'm sure it will be a sweet treat!
I've used a Martha Stewart PATP to make a matt again - I like the fact you can use a 6x6 paper without having to trim all the nice edges off it! The backing paper and sentiment are from Heavenly Cards too. Card is finished with some gems.
I'm entering the following challenges:
My Time to Craft - Easter Wishes
Rainbow Lady - Sweet Treats for Easter
Fussy and Fancy - Springtime
Cutie Sunday - Easter
Paper Play Challenges - Easter/Spring
Crafty Sentiments - Easter

Happy Birthday

Made this card this evening. Using a LOTV stamp coloured with promarkers. Backing paper from Bearly Mine. I had my first go at stitching the backing paper with my new mini Janome machine, now I never could control a sewing machine in needlework at school but brain seems slightly more co-ordinated these days but its just as well I drive better than I sew lol. Ribbons, pearls and buttons are from my stash.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
LOTV - Happy Birthday
A Spoonful of Sugar - Lets celebrate
Anything Goes - Pink and Brown
Saturday Challenge - Stitching

Thanks for stopping by today.

Magnolia-licious

Been school shoe shopping today, always a nightmare as darling daughter has very wide feet and no interest in shoes!!! My last comment before leaving home was put socks on and make sure theres no holes in them - so why was she revealing a good square inch of bare sole to everyone when trying shoes on!!! Kids - love em but couldn't eat a whole one! Did manage shoes, trainers and some new socks and didn't need a morgage to pay for them though.

Onto crafty things now, I made this card last night and left it overnight to be given some finishing touches.

Using my Tilda with butterfly stamp again, Tilda is coloured with watercolour pencils. Backing paper is from Bearly Mine, ribbon is from Hobbycraft, flowers from WOC, Hobby craft and my stash. Tag is a Doo Hickey die, butterfly and doiley from Joanna Sheen. Card is finished with pearls and lace from my stash.

LIM no 4

I won some Words with Honey stamps over at Rainbow Lady's challenge last week and they arrived yesterday - so I had a play.
You'll have to excuse the photography on this one! I used onyx stardream and stamped with versamark and then embossed with fine detail silver embossing powder. I think I'm beginning to get the drift of this Less is More lark but they sure don't come easy lol. The sentiment says "The way to have life is to love many things".

Carol x

Sum Bunny Loves Ya

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day. This is my card for The Sugar Bowl challenge of Purple and Green with a sketch to follow - this is the challenge I was getting mixed up with the other day with my ribbon weaving card and it's taken me days to get my head around doing it again!!

The image is a stamp from Sugar Nellie and I've had one heck of a job colouring it in.....I think this is my fourth attempt.......and I finally decided it was to be a white Easter Bunny! I've used promarkers for colouring in. Backing paper is from HOTP and I've used nesties and a Cheery Lynn Design doiley for matting and layering the image. Card is finished with some funky fibres and a couple of buttons tied with thread.
I'm also entering this card in the following challenges:
Kaboodle Doodles - Cute and Cuddly Animals
Simon Says Stamp - For a Child

Taking the plunge

After seeing Jan's post earlier I mosied over to Crafting for all Seasons to take a look. It's a brand new challenge blog and they're looking for a Design Team. I decided to take the plunge..........nothing ventured.....nothing gained as Jan said! That was the easy part......then I had to pick three cards to showcase....this was my final three:

A bookatrix made for my sister's Silver Wedding a wee while ago. It is mounted on an A4 card, layers are made from a mixture of vellum, card, stardream paper and acetate. Card is finished with peel offs, ribbons, a butterfly, hearts and a handmade bouquet.

I like the paper combination on this card and it was only my second attempt at this type of card. Stamps are from LOTV and the papers came from Costco. Image is coloured with watercolour pencils. Finished with a piece of raffia lace, flowers, buttons and pearl hearts. I've used several Spellbinder dies in the construction.

I found it difficult to choose between this Less is More and my Touch of Red entry but finally settled for this one. Stamp is from Penny Black and is coloured with watercolour pencils.

Now I'll just have to wait and see what happens........wish me luck......I think!!!

Carol x

Tilda and butterfly

My gorgeous new stamp.......I just love her lol. Had a trip around Hobbycraft yesterday just for a nose and boy do they know how to charge! Picked up a few bits and bobs.........as you do.......then found a full set of 72 watercolour pencils for £50 - a set of 36 were priced at over £40 so decided they were a must buy along with a pack of two mini easels. Checked on the web and the pencils are priced generally over £70! So a worthwhile trip. I coloured Tilda in last night with my new watercolour pencils.
I followed the Sketch and Stash sketch for this card. The green backing paper is a free download from Pink Petticoat and is being aired for the first time, checked paper from Anna Griffin - from my bit box, sentiment from Madaboutcards. Card is finished with some swirls, a gingham bow, a rosebud and some gems.
I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
My Time to Craft - On the Spot
Magnolia Mania - Checked
Magnolia-licious - Pink and Green
Stamptacular Sunday - Girls and Swirls
Creative Inspirations - Punches and Dies
A Spoonful of Sugar - All Creatures Great and Small

Diva dog

Meet Freya our Diva of a Siberian Husky.
I had been using this chair yesterday afternoon to catch a few rays and hubby had forgotten to bring it back in. Freya obviously thought all her Christmases and birthdays had come at once.............a nice cosy seat just within reach of her tether...perfect!!!
It's been another gorgeous day today so we had a two hour walk to the beach this afternoon - it's lovely to get the shorts, t-shirts and sandals out again - though I don't suppose we're finished with the winter woolies yet.
Hope you all enjoyed your Sunday.
Carol x

A Christmas Scene

To include at least two stamps (including a Tilda) was the challenge at Die Cut Dreams this week. I followed the sketch from Just Magnolia.
I rotated the sketch (except the embellishments which I left top right). I have used Tilda and her snowman along with this cute little mouse and sentiment from Joanna Sheen. (Little mouse is pleading for a hug too lol). Images are coloured in with promarkers and sakura pens and highlighted with gelly glaze. Backing papers are all from my stash. Card is finished with a snowflake, some Crafty Bitz stars and some pearls which I have coloured with promarkers to match the images.
Carol x

Sassy Circles

is the challenge over at Stamp Something.
I found this Sassy little madam in my stash, so sorry I don't know who she is or where she came from. She is coloured with promarkers. Backing papers are from Heidi Grace and the sentiment stamp from LOTV.
I'm also entering this card in:
Simon says Stamp - Spring colours

The Ghost of Christmas Present

is the title of this weeks challenge over at Jingle Belles - a recipe was included:
1 - as white as a ghost
2 - a present
3 - a bow or knot
4 - a touch of traditional Christmas colours

I hope this fits the bill. Stamp probably came from QVC in a set and is coloured with Promarkers and Sakura pens, the die cuts are all from Crafty Bitz.
I'm also entering this in the following challenges:
Bah! Humbug! - Candy Canes
CHNC -Going around in Circles

Less is More (part 3)

Okay it's a new day and brain is in gear (not yet sure which one but we're going forwards!!). I'd forgotten all about this Penny Black Christmas stamp sitting in the bottom of a box and it's perfect for the LIM challenge this week and it puts another Christmas card in the box!
Image is coloured with watercolour pencils and card is finished with some gems.
Time for lunch now then off for a walk with the dog to enjoy the sunshine while we can.

Winter Wonderland

The Winter Wonderland challenge this week is photo inspired. Here is my card:
I started off with the idea of using my baubles Cuttlebug folder on the background but as they don't quite fit it didn't look right. Decided to go for a simple look.......how come simple takes so long to execute!!! Not sure I've used the right card for this but it's done now. Baubles and sentiment came from a QVC bumper pack. Card is finished with some bows, peeloffs, a pearl and a ribbon.
Constructive comments welcome.....it's been one of those days where I've had ideas but just couldn't execute them.......perhaps I had too much sun this afternoon!!
Carol x

Less is More

The task at LIM this week was to use your sentiment as focus and you were allowed one layer. I struggled slightly with this as I don't have any sentiment stamps suitable and can't print anything on the computer atm after the trojan took out my laptop earlier this week :(
I ended up making two cards:
The first uses a backing stamp which I hadn't used before (and probably won't again as it's obviously dodgy and the middle refused to print out despite three attemps). The sentiment is part of a kit card. I distressed it all with a Tim Holz distress ink pad (an area I need some practise in!). Card is finished with a button.
As I wasn't overly happy with this I set about making another:
Now I've use a little poetic licence on this one lol - I've cut an oval from the front of the card and "replaced" it with the acetate sentiment, then made a scalloped border to frame it. Card is finished with some gems and I used a blue insert.
Carol x

Amy (again)

The theme at Crafty Sentiments this week is Glitter it up. I don't really do glitter........it messes up my nice clean craftroom and makes me look like the fairy who was rejected!!............so I've used glitter board on this card. Amy was sitting ready coloured in - a trial with my new Promarkers, I've added some glitter pen highlights to her T-shirt.
Used my Grand Nestie ovals to shape the card and for the matting and layering. Card is finished with some glittery tinsel, some roses which have been glittered and a few gems.
I'm also entering this in the DYSU - Follow the Yellow Brick Road
