With Sympathy

This is a card I made for a close friend who lost someone in her family this past week.  I hope she likes it and that it shows I care.  If of all I embossed the designer paper which was the background mat.  I highlighted it with cranberry ink.  Next I wrapped the mat with a piece of lace which was punched from white cardstock.
I then stamped my sentiment which is by Stampin' Up and then cut it out with a Spellbinders die.  I cut a second mat using the same die, but a little larger.  Finally I layered flowers on top of each other giving the flower spray dimension.  There are approximately 3 layers for each flower.   Finally a little bow was added to the flower stem.   The second picture was a little difficult to take to show the layers.  I found it hard to click the camera with one hand and hold the card with the other without moving.  It is like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time.

I hope she likes it.

I am also submitting this card to Let's Ink It  Up who is having a Design Call.

Getting Ahead of the Holidays - Trees

From time to time I am going to make a few Christmas cards in order to get ahead of the holidays.  At the same time I am entering Gingersnaps Creations' 'Trees" Challenge.  This is a stand-up card and I will write a message on the base.  The main embellishment on this card is the dimensional tree whose branches are tipped with snow.  Notice not only did the snow fall on the tree, but it stuck to the sign.  Below the sign is a bought embellishment of holly.  This has been one of my favorite cards and it is so easy.

I'm also entering PLay Date Cafe #50  in their Melon, White and Green Challenge.

A number of people have asked if it was a clay tree.  The answer is "No".  It is paper.

How About a Little Humor

This is the first time I've even thought about getting ahead of the holiday season.  Here is a little card with a little humor.  The techniique is Warhol.  Stamps are by Inkadinkadoo and VAP Scrap.  Also I just had to add my little fence, a new purchase from Martha Stewart.

These little turkeys are trying to get a little message to you about what to have on the dinner table during the holidays.  Notice that the turkeys in the window are hoping that their leader will get the message across!

This card has numerous layers which qualifies it for Simon's Stamp and Show Challenge "Layers".  Also the card has a 3D effect which I am entering into Gingersnap Creations' 3D Challenge.
