Distress Oxide Background

I have a few distress oxide background cards to share. As most of my crafty friends know, I often make more than one card in the one sitting. It just makes it easier with all the materials out on the table! I blended three colours on each card taking care not to leave finger smudges on them, sprayed them with Perfect Pearls. I then added white die cuts to the card and a bit of stamping. These were quite easy to make and the effect is striking! Thanks for dropping by!

WCMD Challenge 2018-1

I had a busy weekend for World Card Making Day. I managed to squeeze in a couple of cards. This one is for a 60th Wedding celebration. I decided to use my newly acquired Simon Says Stamp October kit stamp for the background image of an A5 sized card. I then stamped the sentiment and die cut out the numbers. I used several coats of clear embossing powder to create a lovely finish on the numbers. I'd also layered the numbers on a stack of gold cardstock. Happy WCMD!!

Winnie and Walter WCMD 2018 - Number Cruncher with Keren

Hero Arts July Kit

I was so excited when my parcel arrived from Hero Arts last week and couldn't wait to ink up the images. I love lavender and was very eager to stamp up this image first. After stamping and masking up the images, I added a masked border to two sides of the card and lightly sponged with the Distress Oxide ink that was included in the July kit. The rest of the images were coloured with my Zig Clean Colour markers. Love all the fun containers and bunches of flowers in the kit. I'll be stamping some more real soon!! Thanks for dropping by!

Florals challenge

Did someone say 'Florals'? Most of my favourite stamps have some variety of flowers. I decided to combine a Winnie and Walter stampset with sentiment from Hero Arts for the current A Blog named Hero Florals challenge. I inked up an acrylic block with some Distress Inks, spritzed with some water and invert it over a watercolour card. I tried several times before I perfected the technique. I had drips from the block, not enough water, ink oozing out the side (I tried wiping it and created a mess on the white space)... I was happy to finally see this card finished. Thanks for dropping by!

Materials:
Stamps- Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Happy, Winnie and Walter In Bloom - Addie's Garden
Inks- Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord and Mermaid Lagoon
Dies - Hero Arts

Blue Hydrangeas

After seeing a few blue cards posted recently, I was inspired to do one as well. This card was made with Distress Inks on water colour card. I wanted to colour in the negative space as there is a fair bit of detailing on the stamp which I wanted to leave untouched. I've also inlaid a die cut from Winnie and Walter. I'm adding this card to the current A Blog Named Hero Florals challenge with Winnie & Walter. Thanks for dropping by!

Materials:
Stamps - Hero Arts and Winnie & Walter
Inks - Distress Inks Chipped Sapphire and Broken China, Hero Arts Navy
Dies - Winnie and Walter and MFT Stitched Rectangles

85th Birthday Card

I have a masculine 85th birthday card to share. This was made for my FIL using stamps from Winnie and Walter. The background was stamped with a combination of four colours and then I added some splatters with silver paint. The 'Happy 85' was die cut from glitter foam (makes it so easy!) and the 'Birthday' was stamped. I also added some sponging to the edges of the card. I'm adding this to the current Winnie and Walter WCMD Challenge - Background Buiding with Shay. It has been a crazy week and I'm way behind in my card making!! I still have a couple of wedding cards to make before I go overseas in two weeks!!

Materials used:
Stamps - Winnie and Walter The Party and Big Bold & Party, Papersmooches Digits
Dies - Winnie and Walter and MFT Dienamics Large Numbers
Inks - Versafine, Hero Arts Green Hills, Navy, Soft Granite and Pool, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Broken China
Paints - Kuretake Gansai Tambi

She's 16!

I can't believe that our youngest niece is turning 16 tomorrow! She lives in Sydney and I made this card on Mother's Day, in between running a few errands! I wanted to use a stencil so that I can enter it into this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge. Can you see the stencil in this card! I used the Flash creative screening from Winnie and Walter for the background using two distress inks to colour. I then overstamped with images from The Party stampset. The '16' was diecut with MFT Dienamcs Big numbers dies and glitter foam which I picked up from Lincraft recently. Of course the card would not be complete without a bit of Wink of Stella on the balloons and a sprinkling of sequins. Thanks for dropping by!

Sympathy Card

This week we lost two people both related to work colleagues. Both of them died on the same night at my hospital. One was a ex colleague who left over 10 years ago but still keeps in touch - she lost a very short battle with cancer. The other is a nephew of a staff member who was involved in a fight on the weekend and died under very tragic circumstances. I made two cards exactly the same on the one night. I stamped with my MISTI using Distress Inks and rotated the design. After masking, I re-stamped again with different shades of Distress Inks (Seedless Preserve, Mowed Lawn, Chipped Sapphire and Stormy Sky). I then coloured in with water and added a bit more colour. After drying, I then coloured in the background with Tumbled Glass. I sprinkled droplets of Seedless Preserve and Chipped Sapphire and added the sentiment from Hero Arts. I didn't want to add any sequins but added some dots with some dimensional paint in silver. I mounted the card to Hero Arts layering paper before adhering to the card base. This post is for A Blog Named Hero's Fan page on Facebook. Thanks for dropping in!

Antique Rose for Mother's Day

I've been wanting to try this watercolour technique for quite a while now. I stamped my Hero Arts Antique Rose stamp with Distress Ink Antique Linen onto water colour paper and coloured in with distress inks. I made two cards at the same time just in case one did not turn out. The sentiment die cut is from Winnie and Walter. Well I think that both were OK and I decided to use both of them.  I was inspired by this week's Muse Challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

W&W 2nd Birthday Bash Challenge - 4

W&W 2nd Birthday Challenges - 2

I've got another card to share for the Winnie and Walter 2nd Birthday Bash for the background challenge with Gayatri and the Inlaid challenge with Mayuri.  I've used the balloons from The Party Stampset to create the background. The word 'Happy' was then die cut and inlaid with a plain card. I'm also adding this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes. Thanks for dropping by!

More Christmas Cards!

I think I have enough Christmas cards made by now! Current count is 51! Here are some great ideas for doing a quick card after being inspired by Jennifer McGuire. I made some last week and did some more with the same design but using brighter colours this time.  The small stamps are from Hero Arts, sentiments from Hero Arts and Winnie and Walter and the glitter tape from American Crafts. I love the glitter tape and have been using them for a lot of my Christmas cards this year!! I'm adding this to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes.
