Must Watch: Set Fire To The Rain
Some of us get married thinking it will change who we are. Some of us date girls or boys in high school to make our parents proud, or we don't want them finding out we're gay. Gay people often find themselves in this situation, and the fact that we're so afraid to come out - we hurt a lot of people in the process. Straight and Gays alike should see this video, especially if you like music and dance.
I know that everyone is tired of hearing about Adele and Whitney, but this is not about them.
Ryan shared this video with me this morning and asked if I had ever posted it on one of my blogs. I hadn't, so I'm doing it now. In the music video you have an Adele impersonator, 3 dancers, and a story of a man struggling with his sexuality, while a girl who thought she had everything, is now facing a struggle of her own. It truly sets fire to the rain.

YouTube: The music video portrays a man struggling with his sexuality, while the girl in love with him fights to hold on as everything she thought she knew comes crashing down before her. The song speaks of a foolish love that's so hard to let go. This theme is not uncommon, most of us have been subjected to this type of unrequited love in some way, shape, or form. Whether gay or straight, single or taken, if you have not experienced this kind of pain, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 41 - Stuart, The Salsa Dancing Dog
As most of you know, Ryan and I have 4 chihuahuas. Duchess has ADD, Puffs is extremely overweight, Lady is scared shitless, and Nacho, well... being that he's the only boy, overly sensitive, and loves his little blanky, I'm gonna say gay.
But no one can do it quite like Stuart here. Watch as he dances the salsa, and better than any of us ever could. Hell, they should do a Dancing With The Stars for dogs. He'd get all tens!
Of course, with all the lovers, come the haters. So the owner of the dog had this to say on his YouTube site.

Ok, for all of you conspiracy theorists and such, I have to address a number of inanely negative comments and observations. 1) Stuart is on a leash, not a string. He uses this for balance and to keep from running out into the street. 2)HE LEARNED TO DO THIS ON HIS OWN. 3)He is never forced to do anything because he runs the show in his house. Just stop with the abuse comments. You are completely uninformed. If you want to see animal abuse, maybe you should search a video of the cockfights on the Island so you can tell the difference.

Sunday Funday: Dancing Video of the Day - Part II
Since we had Sunday Funday last week, why not have another one this week? :-)
This week's international music hails from Bulgaria. And it comes courtesy of a guy dancing his little heart away.

The Joys of Being a Parent: Father & Daughter Dance
I always tell Ryan that whenever we get married, there are several songs and performances I want us to do during the ceremony and/or reception. And seeing this, just made my day even brighter.
A father and daughter share a dance medley together and it's absolutely fantastic. This is definitely one of the joys of being a parent.

The Joys of Being a Parent: How To Crush Your Son's Dreams

Watch as this kid attempts to do his best at breakdancing, until mommy comes in and crushes his dreams. LOL.
"Alex... stop you're not going to be the great breakdancer you think you are, stop, it's not gonna work!"
Life's hard lessons... Mom, just let him be. Then again, mom is probably trying to keep him from hurting himself so they're not stuck with a huge doctor bill later. LOL.

What a Hot Mess: Dancing With The Stars Releases It's List of "Has Beens" and "Never Were" Contestants
Seriously? What the hell is going on with ABC? Did they drink a bottle of Jack Daniels, and play a few rounds of strip poker to come up with this hot mess? No. Really? Did they sit around and talk about what slut or ho was going to take the crown this season?
OMG, and then you ask why Ryan and I stopped watching this god-forsaken show! Once Julianne Hough left, it became a fucking joke! Or better yet, an outrageous nightmare!
First you have Carson Kressley - the most flamboyant, loud-mouthed gay on all the planet and Chaz Bono - the first "I'm a lesbian," then "a chick with a dick," and now, a she who made herself a he. Too fucked up? Well.... cough, cough... you haven't heard nothing yet...
Next... you have Nancy Grace, the self-appointed former lawyer who can put a laughing-hyena to shame. If I wanted to watch a screaming lunatic dance for her life (oh wait, that's So You Think You Can Dance..oh well), I would watch Lion King while on crack. The bitch still dreams and screams of revenge for Casey Anthony.
Okay, okay... I do like Ricki Lake, we all know she's taking that stupid mirrored-disco-ball trophy home. I mean c'mon... Hairspray, Helloooooo???
I also like Chynna Phillips from the group Wilson Phillips but really... did they have to add David Arquette? What a hot fucking mess! And why do we need another Kardashian - Rob, really? I've had enough of that annoying family!
Finally, JR Martinez, he's an Iraq war veteran, enough said. Well... he did become a soap star, and that's the only messy thing about him that I could think of.
I don't really know too much about the other "never were" contestants in this lineup, but here you go... Ron Artest, Kristin Calamaris, Hope Solo, and Elisabeta Canalis.
God bless all of you who are watching this hot mess, because it's definitely a list of "has-beens" and people who "never were."

Flashback to the 1990's - Tarzan Boy by Lee R
When I heard this song on my way to work this morning, it reminded me of those days when I was out partying and drinking my life away. Talk about having a flashback.
The song, "Tarzan Boy" was actually released in 1985 by Baltimora, a group from Italy, and has been re-recorded over the years by several artists.
The version I listened to was re-recorded by Lee R back in 1999, and played in all the dance clubs I went to. It was definitely a catchy tune, and dancing to it was a lot of fun. I think it was the, "oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh" that got everyone pumped-up and ready to party the night away.
The original artist, Jimmy McShane (Baltimora's front man) died of AIDS 9 years after the song was released, and was able to catch it being used in a Listerine commercial and also on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III soundtrack. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to enjoy the success of the version you're about to hear, but I'm sure he would've loved it just as much as those who partied to it in 1999 and 2000.

The Joys of Being a Parent: Thrilling Dance by Thriller Kid at a Baseball Game
In recent weeks, I have been posting video segments on the "The Joys of Being a Parent," and today is no exception. I bet this kid's parents were either surprised their kid could dance like this, or they're extremely proud he's so talented. Regardless, this is what being a parent is all about.
The video you're about to see was recently shot on a Jumbo-Tron at a recent Seattle Mariners game. The boy is dancing to Michael Jackson's, "Thriller."

Where is Mia Michaels from SYTYCD?
Whatever happened to Mia Michaels? Was she fired? Was she let go?
Actually, these are the many questions people have been asking me recently. At least the fans, and my friends who love So You Think You Can Dance.
According to E online, before you start thinking there was some huge drama backstage or in the dressing room, Mia left at her own accord. Looking upon the years ahead, she will be starring in her own Bravo reality show, writing a book, and is currently developing a Broadway show. As people in this industry know, we all have dreams we wish to fulfill, and I'm sure others will agree.
If you know Mia, or get to know her, she's a very talented and active artist; Sitting down was not her forte, and everyone knew that. Hell, I read about it in the morning papers, and online blog sites. Before the interview was finished, she did manage to say this, "I heard they're bringing Mary Murphy back and I'm really happy for her," Michaels says. "I've sat in that chair, but I feel like that was Mary's chair."
And it's true, it did feel odd without Mary Murphy there; I constantly brought it up, and so did the rest of the world. Who knows? Maybe she'll choreograph a dance routine this season, and we'll get to see her creative talent once again.
If not... we wish you luck, Mia. Good Luck, and God Bless you and your endeavours - you'll truly be missed.

"Last year when I was sitting on the [judges] panel, I knew it wasn't the right fit because I felt too glossy sitting on the panel," she exclusively tells us. "People were so focused on what I wore and my hair. I wanted to get dirty and back to the work. I am an artist and I'm a visionary. I need to paint my world now and not be constantly linked to So You think You Can Dance."
Not that she doesn't appreciate what SYTYCD has done for her. "It's been a great platform," Michaels says. "It was a wonderful platform. I'm staring at [my] two Emmys right now. It was an amazing, amazing thing for me but I feel like I have to fly. I have to now focus on Mia's world."Personally, I didn't think she fit at the judge's table - I'll be the first to admit it.

NOH8 Music Video of "Born This Way"
I can honestly say this video was fun to watch. Several dancers got together and created a routine that is truly amazing. While the video starts off kind of slow due to their warm-up and practicing, it eventually picks up and you get to see the complete performance. Choreographer Chris Downey created the video and it was directed by both he and Danny Cerny.
In the "Celebration of Individuality," I urge you to watch the video.
The thing I liked most about the video is that I could not tell who was gay, lesbian, straight or transgendered and that is the thing - it doesn't matter who we are, nor should we be judged or subjected to treatment as second class citizens, because of our sexuality, race, gender or how we measure up to notions of beauty.
For more information on how can you help the NOH8 campaign please go to: http://www.noh8campaign.com.
