It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. Make You Feel My Love by Sean Rumsey

I first heard Sean Rumsey's cover of Adele's "Make You Feel My Love" over a year ago, and I still can't put it down.  I absolutely love his rendition of the song.

I learned today he was actually a contestant on The Voice currently airing in the UK.  According to the Mirror "he is on the verge of being signed by a "host of record labels"".

Must Watch - Must Listen: Tarzan Rain

You may remember or you may not, but in one of my flashbacks (that I haven't done in a while), I featured a song titled Tarzan and Boy by Baltimora.  It was actually a club song from the late 80's, early 90's - a one hit wonder to say the least.  Well today I came across an odd mashup..

Adele vs. Tarzan.  I know, I know, my thoughts exactly.  But it does sound pretty good.  The Reborn Identity mashed up Set Fire to the Rain with the 80s New Wave dance hit.  Take a look, and listen.

Heartbreak Mountain

I never really liked the movie Brokeback Mountain, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger.  I guess being a gay man I should have, but it just didn't do anything for me.  Hell, I have more straight friends than gay ones who loved the movie more than Ryan or myself.  I don't know, maybe I need to watch it again or something.

In either case, the reason for this post is.... I came across a fan-made video of the movie with Adele's song, "Someone Like You" used as the backdrop.  And I'd have to say I was drawn to it, hence the reason for my blog title, Heartbreak Mountain.  You have to watch it to understand what I'm talking about.

YouTube Description:  This is a challenge I set to myself, making a video unrelated to my previous ones and this song by Adele seemed like perfect for the story of Jack and Ennis from Brokeback Mountain.

Brokeback Mountain won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was honored with Best Picture and Best Director accolades from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Golden Globe Awards, Producers Guild of America, Critics Choice Awards, and Independent Spirit Awards among many other organizations and festivals.

In the end, no matter who you love, the feelings are the same.

My special thanks to my dear friend Yellowbee for support! :)

Made in memory of Heath Ledger for his enormous performance as well as Jake Gyllenhaal. ~

Must Watch: Set Fire To The Rain

Some of us get married thinking it will change who we are.  Some of us date girls or boys in high school to make our parents proud, or we don't want them finding out we're gay. Gay people often find themselves in this situation, and the fact that we're so afraid to come out - we hurt a lot of people in the process.  Straight and Gays alike should see this video, especially if you like music and dance.

I know that everyone is tired of hearing about Adele and Whitney, but this is not about them.
Ryan shared this video with me this morning and asked if I had ever posted it on one of my blogs.  I hadn't, so I'm doing it now.  In the music video you have an Adele impersonator, 3 dancers, and a story of a man struggling with his sexuality, while a girl who thought she had everything, is now facing a struggle of her own.  It truly sets fire to the rain.
YouTube: The music video portrays a man struggling with his sexuality, while the girl in love with him fights to hold on as everything she thought she knew comes crashing down before her. The song speaks of a foolish love that's so hard to let go. This theme is not uncommon, most of us have been subjected to this type of unrequited love in some way, shape, or form. Whether gay or straight, single or taken, if you have not experienced this kind of pain, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

A Real Princess Will Show You How It's Done...

While Adele was winning her 6 Grammys in the U.S., Meryl Streep was accepting her BAFTA award for Best Actress for The Iron Lady over in Britain.  But that wasn't the news of the evening - it was the loss of her shoe on her way to accept the award that caused all the buzz.  Luckily for her she had Prince Charming, Colin Firth, there to help slip the shoe back on.  Check out these cute pics.

Laugh of the Day: How It Really Happened With Adele

Okay, I don't care if you don't read anything on my blog, or read anything I write for that matter - the one thing you have to do is watch this video. This will be the funniest video, picture, or post you've seen all day.

I can't take it anymore!  My ass is still rolling on the floor laughing from watching this funny-ass-hell skit.  I'm sorry, excuse my French, but this has got to be be the funniest thing I've seen in years!  Thank you Phillip Adl, for sharing.
Adele's one night stand turned into the record-breaking diva who won 6 Grammys and walked away with a fortune, because of some loser.

Whitney Houston Is Looking To You

Earlier this evening, Ryan and I took a nap, and when we woke up our Facebook was flooded with the news that Whitney Houston had died.  We both looked at each other and said, "WTF!  How can this possibly happen?"

I grew up at the height of Whitney's career.  The 1980's were hers and no matter who got in her way, ie. Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Taylor Dayne, Jodi Watley, Vanessa Williams - she pushed them aside with the sole power of her voice.  I honestly believe that if she had not married that loser Bobby Brown, she would still be with us tonight.  Her career went downhill after that.

So many people today were inspired by this woman, we can only imagine how much she meant to the one who will be taking every Grammy on earth tomorrow, Adele.  I mean, every artist can, and will say that Whitney touched their lives in some way or another.  Hell, she touched mine more than she could possibly know.  I used to sit and listen to her when my relationships went sour, I used to listen to her when I wanted something uplifting to make my day.  She was the epitome of musical genius in my eyes, and to millions more around the world.  You will truly be missed Whitney, you will truly be missed - 'I Will Always Love You'

The last time I wrote a I blog on Whitney Houston was on September 11, 2009 on my old MySpace blog, and as a tribute to her, I will re-post it as I had back then.

The following week after posting this blog, Whitney's newest album, "I Look To You" hit #1 on Billboard's U.S. Chart.

Adele Finds Someone Like YOU!

Yay!!! Go for it girl!  The 23 year old powerhouse has landed in the Florida Everglades with her new bearded beau, Simon Konecki!  According to "The Sun", he made her giggle as they took a walk on the beach.

Adele, whose previous relationship was a disaster and ended in her biggest album to date, told the sun, "if they make me laugh, I'm in the bed."  Interesting.  Things that make you go hmmm....
I hope for his sake he doesn't break our girl's heart!  There will be an outcry, and he will no longer be able to walk on beaches or hug women.

Set Fire To The Rain

How logical is Adele's song,"Set Fire To The Rain?" You all know how much I love her, but this comic is funny as hell.

Blade 7184's 2011 Top 20 +1

It literally took me all day to put this together. But I've listed the Top 20 songs of 2011 I felt were the most popular, most emotional, most danced to, most listened to, and overall, most loved.

The "Plus One" is due to the fact, that I had to single out the artist whom I felt brought the world to it's knees. The power in her voice not only made people cry, but it made them see things in their own relationships with God or their partners they never thought was possible.  Across the seas and across our land, she moved us in a way we could feel the hair on our arms rise as she bellowed each and every lyric.  Adele, you pwned this year's Top 20.  You are my blog's most distinguished Plus One!

20. Set Fire To The Rain by Adele
19. Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera

Blade's Box of Jams: Track #10 - You and I

Currently listening to...
Lady Gaga & Sugarland

If you missed the Grammy Nominations Ceremony on CBS, you missed the performance by Lady Gaga and Sugarland singing Gaga's hit track, "You and I," and I'd have to say it was damn good!  I have added it to my collection, Blade's Box of Jams.

For those who didn't watch the show, on February 12, 2012, Gaga will be up against Rihanna, Bruno Mars, The Foo Fighters, and Adele for Album of the Year.  As for my prediction, Adele will take them all home.  She is up for 6 Grammy nominations and it's expected she will win them all.  If there is anyone up against Gaga for the prestigious categories of record, album, and song of the year, it's Adele.  She's undeniably an amazing artist.

Now, let's listen to Blade's Box of Jams: Track #10 - You and I, featuring Lady Gaga and Sugarland!

What a Hot Mess: Christina Aguilera Shocking Photos

When I saw these pics yesterday, I almost died. What a Hot Mess! What's happened to you my poor Christina?

Christina Aguilera performed at the The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff Wales last Saturday in an all-star musical tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.  All the buzz was on how Christina allowed herself to balloon to a plus size woman.  Nothing against plus-size women, because I love me some Adele any day, she's beautiful.  But Christina, the outfit?  Really?

It's okay girl, we've all been there, you'll be back!  Look at Britney Spears, Kirstie Alley, and countless others.

Cover Wars 6

I can't believe it's been a month since my last Cover Wars post, but after listening to Adele's CD on my way to work this morning, I had to feature a Cover War using another one of her songs.  You may recall my very first issue featured Adele's "Rolling In The Deep."

Once again, it was a very difficult decision to make, so I went with only the guys for this battle.  The girls were fantastic, but I can only do so much. Maybe I will feature them at a later time, but for now, the war is on...

These are the top 6 guys I felt did an awesome job of covering Adele's, "Someone Like You."  Sean Rumsey, Abraham Lim, Eli Lieb, Benjamin, Chris Kennedy from The Shures, and Nick Gardner

The contest ends next Thursday, August 11, and the winner will receive a Cover Wars Gold Record that I will personally email them.  It's not an actual vinyl record, but a recognition award just for being on my blog, so your vote is really important.

Blade's Box of Jams: Track #2 - Set Fire To The Rain

I'm turning on my headphones, and currently listening to...

Ryan and I are catching up on our shows from last week, and one of my favorite performances of the night was SYTYCD's Jordan and Jess dancing to Adele's, "Set Fire To The Rain."  While most of the judges, including Lady Gaga were critical of their performance, I was very sad to see them go.  Especially when I felt there were others who were not worthy enough to go through.

Quoted - Adele on Amy Winehouse

May She Rest in Peace
"Not many people have it in them to do something they love, simply because they love it. with no fuss and no compromise. but she knew what she was capable of and didn’t even need to try. if she wanted to do something she would and if she didn’t she’d say fuck off. it came easy to her and that’s why we all loved her so much. we believed every word she wrote, and it would sink in deep when she sang them. Amy paved the way for artists like me and made people excited about british music again whilst being fearlessly hilarious and blase about the whole thing. i don’t think she ever realised just how brilliant she was and how important she is, but that just makes her even more charming. although im incredibly sad about Amy passing im also reminded of how immensely proud of her i am as well. and grateful to be inspired by her. Amy flies in paradise xx"

OMG Hilarious! - Adele vs. Angry Birds

As most of you know by now, my admiration for Adele has grown over the last several weeks.  I took a second look at her after my friends, Renee and Michael convinced me she was a force to be reckoned with.  And this she is, my readers.

Released in March of this year, Adele's current number one hit, "Rolling in the Deep," has sold over 2 million digital copies in the US alone - and it's only 2 weeks into the month of May.  And she continues breaking records around the world.

Well, I thought I would bring a little humor to my Saturday Morning readers, and post The Key of Awesome's outrageously hilarious parody to her music video, Rolling in the Deep.  If you haven't seen the original music video, watch it here first, then come back, and watch this one.

If you may recall, The Key of Awesome also did a parody to Lady Gaga's, "Born this Way," last month and it was downright funny. Also, if you're a fan of the popular smartphone game, "Angry Birds," you'll get a kick out of this too. There's a few references to the movie, Black Swan as well! Omg Hilarious!

Cover Wars - Issue No. 1

UPDATE: Drew Chambers wins first cover war!

As part of my new series, "Cover Wars," I would like to initiate the series with one of my favorite songs of the year, "Rolling in The Deep" by Adele.  It's from her new album, "21".

The premise behind "Cover Wars" is to get your opinion on who you think is the "best of the best" when performing a cover to a particular artist.

Today I chose, Drew Chambers and Kris Cunningham feat. Natalia Brown to compete in the first round of my new series.

Who do you think has won this war?

Adele's "Someone Like You" for the Gays

More often than naught you get a song that fits perfectly for a heterosexual couple - either going through a failed relationship or a happy one.

But boy is it hard to find a cover to a song that leans towards a gay audience, and Adele's song, "Someone Like You" does just that.  I was listening to several covers of her song last night, and Eli Lieb's version of her song simply blew me away; I had Ryan listen to it, and it drew us both to tears.  It drew us ever more closer to one another - which only goes to prove that I can never be without him in my life.  Take a listen, as Eli changes the word "girl" to "boy."

It's amazing how such a simple word like "him" and "her" or "boy" and "girl" can make a huge difference in someone's life.  I feel more artists should look into this, because you don't have many who perform songs that play to both genders.  It's either a woman singing about a man whom she loves or hates, or a man singing about a woman in a similar situation.  It's never about man singing about another man, those are few and in-between.

Chris Kennedy to the left and below is from the UK and part of a three-person group called "The Shures."  The group formed when a girl from the U.S., a boy from the UK, and another boy from Australia met over two years ago on a music networking site and fell in love with each other’s voices.  Group member Ashley Burns from West Virginia brought up the idea of creating an online album to her two friends and from there, the online band concept was born.  They entered an online competition but when they needed to enter a name, they noticed they were nameless. Third band member, Gabriel Cabrera from Australia came up with “The Shures” and they all decided to run with it.  Chris also changed the gender of the song from "girl" to "boy" in the video below.
